Chapter 497 A Special New Year's Gift
When Stuart came back after finishing his work, he knew Josephine had already gone home.
When he got home and took a look, he was stunned for a moment and then looked back at the door.
He didn't go to the wrong place.
But why was Nicole sitting in his living room?
It made him think he had arrived at the Clarence Mansion.
"Mom," He called out as he entered the door, "You're here."
Nicole smiled and said, "Yes, I'm here to stay for a few days."
Stuart was surprised but definitely welcoming. "That's great, Grandpa has mentioned several times that he wanted you to come and stay for a few days."
"You're back?" Josephine came down from upstairs, smiling as she spoke.
Stuart looked at her with affection, "Yeah. Where's Grandpa?"
"In the study," Josephine said, "practicing calligraphy with Jeffery."
Stuart went upstairs to change clothes, and Nicole said to Josephine, "Aren't you going to tell him the good news?"
"I was thinking of waiting until tomorrow..."
"Don't wait," Nicole said, "Go quickly."
As soon as she finished speaking, the phone placed aside rang.
She picked it up and looked at it. "It's Ulysses calling."
Josephine sat down next to her.
Nicole answered, "Ulysses?"
"Grandma, where did you all go?" Ulysses asked, "Why is there no one at home?"
Not even the servants were there.
Nicole asked, "You're back? Why did you come back today?"
Ulysses said, "There's an exam at school, so we have a holiday tomorrow, and I came back. Where are you all?"
Nicole laughed, "We're at Josephine's house."
Josephine took the phone, "Ulysses, why don't you come over too? I'll have Stuart pick you up."
"Sure, but no need to pick me up, it's so close, I can walk over."
"It's too cold," Josephine said, "Let him pick you up."
"No need," Ulysses said, "Aunt Josephine, I'll run over, it'll only take ten minutes."
Nicole said from the side, "It's cold, wear more clothes, and don't forget a scarf!"
Ulysses said, "Got it!"
After hanging up the phone, Nicole urged Josephine again, "Go upstairs quickly. The New Year is coming, and our family has a lot of happy events this year!"
Josephine had no choice but to go upstairs first.
But before she reached the second floor, Stuart came down.
She had to come back down with him.
Nicole glanced at her but didn't say anything.
The three of them sat down to chat, and Josephine mentioned that Ulysses was coming over.
About ten minutes later, there was indeed some noise outside the door.
Stuart said, "I'll go take a look."
Nicole pulled Josephine, "You stay put."
Josephine laughed, "Mom, I'm fine."
"Just be careful," Nicole said, "And remember to tell Stuart later, so his grandpa can be happy too."
"Got it."
Ulysses came in, greeted everyone, and took off his scarf and down jacket.
"At least you're obedient," Nicole said, "You're dressed warmly today."
Josephine glanced at him and asked, "Why does your scarf look familiar?"
Ulysses laughed, "I took it from my dad's room, he has a lot of them, and he doesn't wear them, so I wear his every year."
Nicole said, "You always take advantage of these little things."
Ulysses said, "If I buy it myself, it costs money!"
Stuart said from the side, "If you want to buy something, just tell me, I'll buy it for you."
He even thought of giving Ulysses a card to spend as he wished.
But Nicole and Gerald wouldn't allow it.
Ulysses said, "I would like that, but I'm afraid my dad would beat me."
Stuart said, "It's okay, consider it a New Year's gift. I'll talk to your dad. By the way, are you staying here tonight too?"
Ulysses exclaimed, "Grandma, are you staying tonight?"
Nicole said, "Yes, you should stay too."
Josephine said, "There are rooms anyway. Do you want to stay on the first floor or the second floor?"
Ulysses said, "I'll stay next to Grandma."
"Then I'll take you to see."
Nicole said, "No need, I'll take him to see."
She took Ulysses to the room, and Stuart looked at Josephine. "Why does Mom seem a bit strange?"
Josephine smiled and held his hand, "Let's go back to our room first."
"What's going on?" Stuart followed her steps, "Why did Mom agree to come and stay?"
"I'll tell you in a bit."
When they entered the room, Stuart asked, "Why so mysterious? What's going on? I feel like you and Mom are both acting a bit unusual."
"My mom wanted to come over to take care of me."
"Take care of you?" Stuart was even more puzzled, "Take care of you how? Cook for you? Is there something you want to eat that you need Mom to cook?"
"Do you think all I care about is eating?"
Stuart said, "But I can't think of anything else that you need Mom to take care of."
"There wasn't before, but now there is." She reached out and hugged Stuart's lean waist, pressing her face against his chest.
Stuart had an indescribable feeling.
A thought even flashed through his mind.
The thoughts in his head were flying too fast, and he couldn't catch them.
Then, he heard Josephine say, "Do you prefer daughters?"
Stuart was stunned for a moment before he responded with a hum.
Josephine said, "But what if it's a boy?"
Stuart didn't say anything.
Josephine continued, "It seems like the chances of having a boy or a girl are fifty-fifty. But let's make it clear, if it's a girl, you can't spoil her."
"Josephine," Stuart pushed her away and looked down at her, "What are you talking about? Don't joke with me."
Josephine blinked, "I'm not joking, didn't we agree to have another child? What, are you backing out?"
"How could I back out?" Stuart's Adam's apple moved as he spoke nervously, "So, Josephine, are you pregnant?"
That strange feeling, why Nicole came, and what Josephine just said.
All these signs pointed to one fact.
Josephine was pregnant.
Josephine held his hand and placed it on her lower abdomen. "A New Year's gift for you, do you like it?"
Stuart didn't dare to move, his palm resting on Josephine's flat, soft abdomen.
He couldn't feel anything.
But he seemed to feel the heartbeat and joy of new life.
He was completely stunned.
Seeing him not moving or reacting, Josephine laughed, "Hey? Stuart?"
Stuart came back to his senses, looked down at her, and his previously blank eyes instantly turned red.
He reached out and hugged Josephine tightly.
His face buried in Josephine's neck, he felt his heart surge with emotions.
How could he be so fortunate, to be forgiven after making mistakes?
Now, Josephine was willing to give him another child.
Stuart cried.
Josephine once again felt his tears on her skin.
"Why are you crying?" She said softly, "This is a good thing, you should be happy. Or, do you not like it..."
"I like it," Stuart choked, interrupting her, "How could I not like it. Josephine, thank you, really, thank you."
