Chapter 464 You Are Different from Them

Stuart drove Josephine himself. However, Josephine didn't expect that they would run into Rex in the parking lot.

Stuart got out of the car, opened the door for the passenger seat, and took Josephine's hand to help her out.

As soon as they stood up, Stuart wrapped his arm around her waist and said, "Honey, how long are you planning to stay?"

His voice was clearly tinged with grievance.

Josephine smiled and looked up, her eyes curved, "How long do you want me to stay?"

"Ten minutes." Looking at Josephine's smiling face, Stuart felt he was being a bit unreasonable and changed it to, "No more than twenty minutes."

Josephine said, "Okay."

Stuart held her, and just as they were about to leave, they saw a luxury car stop in front of them, and the person who got out was Rex.

The reason for setting this time was that Rex thought he could arrive early, but who knew there would be a car accident on the way, delaying him for more than an hour.

He originally had time to freshen up and change clothes, but now he couldn't.

So now, he looked dusty and tired.

He was usually an outstanding person, even after just getting off a plane after more than ten hours, he wouldn't be outshone.

However, the other person was Stuart—radiant and energetic, tall and upright. In comparison, Rex simply couldn't measure up.

But he wasn't the type to admit defeat. Apart from being a few years older than Stuart, he didn't think he was inferior to Stuart in any way.

He walked over with big strides, ignoring Stuart, and directly addressed Josephine, "Josephine, long time no see."

Before Josephine could speak, Stuart said coldly, "Not seeing you for a lifetime wouldn't be a regret."

Josephine tugged at him, and he reluctantly looked away with a bit of grievance.

Josephine quickly said to Rex, "Mr. Armstrong, long time no see. Shall we go inside?"

Rex raised his chin, "I don't remember inviting him."

Stuart was about to lose his temper, but Josephine pulled him again.

She said, "I'll go in by myself, he just brought me here."

Stuart said, "I'm also picking you up, honey, you said you'd only let me wait for twenty minutes."

Josephine patted his arm.

Rex clenched his jaw, barely suppressing his anger.

He gestured, "Please."

The two of them entered the restaurant.

Stuart didn't get back in the car, he just stood by it.

He took out a cigarette and held it under his nose.

This was an old stash, he hadn't bought any in a long time, and he found this pack by accident yesterday.

He originally planned to throw it away, but feeling irritable over the past few days, he decided to take it out and smell it. He didn't smoke, so Josephine wouldn't find out.

If Josephine were by his side, he wouldn't need such external comfort. However, when Josephine was with Nicole, he sometimes felt restless. He couldn't help but want to do something bad, but he knew he couldn't actually do those things.

He used to be ruthless because he had no worries. But now, he had to think about Josephine, Jeffery, Andrew, and all the family and friends who loved him.

Actually, in the years Josephine was gone, he couldn't think about these things at all.

Back then, only Andrew could stir any emotions in him. He was alive but emotionally numb, to the point where Jair described him as a walking corpse. Now, he felt truly alive. He could cry, he could laugh, he could control himself.

Only now did he understand the true meaning of "liking is indulgence, but love is restraint."

Josephine and Rex entered the restaurant, and the first thing Rex asked was, "You only gave me twenty minutes?"

Josephine said, "Sorry."

"I flew for more than ten hours from abroad to have a meal with you, and you won't even let me finish my meal in twenty minutes?"

If Jair were here, he would probably say, "Twenty minutes isn't enough for you to eat? I think you need to go to the military base for some training."

Josephine thought to herself, 'Well, I didn't ask you to fly for more than ten hours from abroad.'

But with Josephine's personality, she couldn't say such harsh words. She could only say, "It's okay, you eat first, we'll talk after you finish."

Rex said, "Did I invite you just to eat?"

If Laura were here, she would definitely start arguing.

Even Josephine couldn't help but say, "Mr. Armstrong, I don't think there's anything to talk about between us. If that's the case, you enjoy your meal, I'll leave."

"Wait!" Rex said in frustration, "I heard you got married? Is it true?"

He hoped so much that it wasn't true.

"It's true." Josephine took out her phone and showed him a photo, "This is our marriage certificate."

Why did everyone come to question whether she was really married to Stuart?

Rex didn't even look, "Have you thought it through, marrying him? Is he really the right person for you for life?"

Josephine said, "Of course I've thought it through."

"If he can hurt you once, he can hurt you a second time. You've already suffered once, how can you not learn your lesson?"

Josephine was silent for a few seconds, then said, "Mr. Armstrong, strictly speaking, who I marry has nothing to do with you. I don't need to sit here and listen to your scolding."

Rex took a deep breath. He admitted, he was impatient, that was why he said those things. But was he wrong?

"I know very well what kind of person Stuart is and whether he is suitable for me," Josephine said. "Even if he hurts me again, it's my own choice, and if it really happens, it's my own fault."

"If marriage is an investment, why would you choose such a risky one?"

Facing Rex's question, Josephine said, "Mr. Armstrong is a businessman, you should know that the higher the risk, the higher the return. What, has Mr. Armstrong never taken such a risk?"

Rex was left speechless. After a while, he said, "I just think Stuart is not your best choice."

"Then are you, Mr. Armstrong?" Josephine said, "I heard that Mr. Armstrong never talks about feelings with people. So how can Mr. Armstrong guarantee that if we were together, I wouldn't be dismissed with money like your previous women?"

"Of course it's different!" Rex got anxious, "How can they compare to you? I was with them just for mutual needs. But with you, I really like you."

"But liking only has meaning when it's mutual. You like me, thank you, but I don't like you, so I can't respond to your feelings. Mr. Armstrong, I'm sorry, but I'm already married, so you can take back your feelings for me."

"Josephine," Rex lowered his eyes, "If liking could be taken back so easily, that would be great."

Josephine stood up, "Sorry, I have to go."
