Chapter 436 A Joint Wedding'?

"Is it Grandpa?"

"No," Stuart interrupted her. "I want to know if you've ever thought about changing your last name. I don't care what your last name is, but I'm worried about Nicole and the others. They might not say anything, but deep down, they probably hope you would."

"I don't know," Josephine said. "To me, a name is just a label; it doesn't have any special meaning. The only attachment I have to the name Kalmien is the warmth my grandparents gave me."

She was raised by Todd's parents, and even though they knew she wasn't their biological child, they treated her better than their own.

So later, even though Todd and his wife did many things that hurt her, she didn't want to hold it against them because of her grandparents.

"Next time we go back to Hustalia, I'll go with you to visit their graves."

"Okay," Josephine shook her head. "Let's not talk about this now. I'll think about the name change later. Today, the main thing is to discuss Jair's proposal with Laura."

Stuart agreed that this was important. He could listen in while the two girls discussed it and get a sense of Josephine's preferences. That way, when he proposed, he wouldn't be clueless.

"Why don't you meet up with Laura?" Stuart suggested. "Pick a place, and I'll go with you."

"Sure!" Josephine immediately called Laura, who had no objections and started getting ready to go out after hanging up.

Steven asked, "Did Josephine say Jair is proposing?"

"Yeah," Laura said as she changed clothes. "We need to discuss what Jair should prepare."

"Jair is moving fast," Steven said, pulling Laura back. "What's the rush? You haven't even had breakfast."

"It's already late; who cares about breakfast?" Laura glared at him. "Besides, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have slept in and missed breakfast."

Steven coaxed her a bit and then asked, "Seeing Jair propose to Claudia, don't you have any thoughts?"

Laura replied, "What thoughts should I have?"

"Laura," Steven said, holding her, "shouldn't we get married too?"

"What's the rush?" Laura said. "Haven't you seen online that they recommend getting married and having kids after forty?"

Steven frowned. "Why? Which expert said that?"

"The experts say that by forty, your personality is stable, your finances are good, and you can provide better conditions for your kids. Plus, by the time you're forty, your parents will be eighty and probably passed away, so there won't be any family conflicts."

Steven was silent. What kind of logic was that? Of course, since Laura said it, he didn't dare to argue.

He said, "But I'm almost forty. Can't you just pity me a little?"

Laura said, "Don't be so pitiful. I think you look pretty young."

"Laura, seriously, do you really not want to marry me?"

Steven's question was quite serious.

After he asked, Laura fell silent. The room was quiet for a moment.

Steven didn't say anything more. He just got up, fetched Laura's clothes, and helped her dress.

Laura lifted her arms and hooked them around his neck.

Steven said, "Stop messing around and get dressed properly, or you won't be able to go later."

Laura was aware that Steven was sensitive to such playful behavior, so she reassured him by saying, "I'm just hugging you. Don't overthink it."

"I'm not comforted at all," Steven said. "I don't want to argue with you, but Laura, you really have made me wait too long."

Laura said, "Don't you understand why I've made you wait so long?"

"Yes, I know I made mistakes before, but I've admitted them, and I promise I won't make them again. Can't you forgive me?"

"Tell me, how is our current life any different from being married? I follow you everywhere. Isn't that enough?"

Steven said, "I'll only feel secure if we're married."

"What are you worried about?" Laura said. "No one is trying to take me from you."

"It's not the same."

"Alright," Laura said. "Let's solve Jair's proposal first. We'll talk about us later."

"You don't care about your own issues but are so eager to help others."

"Are you coming or not?" Laura asked him. "If you are, stop talking and get dressed."

Steven and Stuart shared the same thought: when Laura and Josephine discuss, they inevitably talk about their preferences. Eavesdropping on their conversation could provide valuable insights for future proposals.

Steven felt he was worse off than Stuart. At least Stuart had already gained Josephine and her family's approval. If he proposed, Josephine would likely agree. But Laura was different.

He had proposed twice already, with rings and flowers, but Laura just wouldn't say yes.

When asked, she said she hadn't had enough fun and didn't want to be tied down by marriage.

She rejected him so directly, and Steven had no way to change her mind.

When Josephine and Laura met, they immediately started discussing what kind of wedding Claudia would like.

The three of them had grown up together and knew each other well.

Plus, Claudia's current job sometimes involved designing wedding dresses for others. Sometimes, when talking about other people's weddings, Claudia would also share her dreams.

In short, they knew Claudia's preferences very well. Soon, they had several proposal plans for Jair.

Stuart and Steven, listening nearby, realized this wasn't working. The two women kept talking about Claudia and didn't mention themselves at all.

So, they didn't get any useful information. Steven glanced at Stuart and then smiled at Josephine. "Josephine, you and Stuart are getting married soon, right? What kind of wedding do you like?"

Josephine didn't expect the topic to shift to her.

She quickly said, "I haven't thought about it."

Laura got interested too. "Think about it now. Just tell Stuart what you want, don't be shy."

"If that's the case, you should be the one getting married," Josephine said. "Jeffery is already five; I'm not in a hurry."

Stuart got anxious when he heard that. Not in a hurry? She might not be, but he was!

Seeing Stuart's expression, Laura couldn't help but laugh. "Consider Mr. Haustia's feelings when you speak, okay?"

Josephine said, "Don't change the subject. We're talking about you. Why bring up Stuart? I think it would be great if you and Claudia had a joint wedding. It would be memorable."

Steven's eyes lit up as he listened and looked expectantly at Laura.

Laura said, "If that's the case, why don't the three of us have a joint wedding? Wouldn't that be even better?"

Now, Stuart's eyes lit up too.
