Chapter 238 Stop Talking Nonsense
The Bailey Family was way more cutthroat than Stuart ever thought.
Robin's stash of assets got frozen by the big banks right after the scandal broke, and they took legal steps to cut their losses.
His houses, cars, and all his stuff got auctioned off by the court to pay his debts.
In no time, Robin went from being one of the richest guys in Hustalia to flat broke.
Jair knew Robin would come running to him.
When Robin showed up, fuming and bitter, Jair just said, "Stuart might be a shark in business, but he'd never hurt his own brother. Ever think about what you did to push him?"
Robin snapped back, "Everyone thinks he's right! So I'm wrong? Is it wrong to love someone? I can't help it, what am I supposed to do?"
Jair shot back, "If you can't even control your feelings, how are you any better than a beast?"
Robin glared at Laura with pure hatred.
Steven came to clean up Robin's mess, not expecting to hear such crap from him.
Even though Robin was his nephew, Steven thought Laura was spot on.
Robin was worse than a beast.
Robin gritted his teeth and sneered at her. "You think you're some saint? A woman like you, dreaming of marrying into the Bailey Family? Keep dreaming!"
Laura crossed her arms and smirked. "Look closely, it's Steven begging me to join the Bailey Family. Too bad! With someone like you in it, I don't want in!"
"Bullshit!" Robin was livid. "You've been with so many men, Steven will see your true colors and dump you!"
He turned to Steven. "Steven, Laura's not pure..."
Before he could finish, Steven kicked him hard.
Robin went flying and landed far away.
He clutched his chest, staring at Steven in shock. "Steven, you'd kick me to death for a woman?"
Laura chimed in. "Steven, how could you hit a beast like Robin? Now you're dirty, don't touch me anymore!"
Steven quickly wrapped his arm around her waist. "Laura, I used my foot. I'll just ditch these shoes, don't hate me."
Robin listened in shock, staring at Steven.
'For a woman.
Another woman!
First, it was Josephine, now it's Laura!
Did any of these people care about my feelings?
I liked Josephine, it was her good luck!
But she had the nerve to turn Stuart against me!' Robin thought.
Robin's gaze grew colder as he looked at Steven, who completely ignored him, and a towering hatred began to envelop him.
That night, Laura went to find Josephine and ranted about Robin for ages!
Josephine advised her, "Don't waste your energy on irrelevant people, it's not worth it."
"I'm not mad, just venting. By the way, has Stuart been bothering you?"
Josephine said, "He thinks Jeffery might be his son and even asked me about Jeffery's birthday."
"That jerk!" Laura gritted her teeth. "If you hadn't been over three months pregnant when you found out, I wouldn't have let you have Stuart's kid! Luckily, Jeffery is well-behaved and adorable. Jeffery must never have any connection with him in the future!"
"I know," Josephine said, "I'll never let Jeffery have any connection with him."
"Good. By the way, I was so busy cursing that I forgot to tell you, Robin's got nothing left now. With his personality, you should have Otis keep an eye out. Who knows if he might go crazy and cause you trouble," Laura added.
Josephine replied, "With Otis around, no problem."
Laura nudged her arm. "Have you really not considered Otis? He's such a reliable guy."
Josephine glared at her. "Stop talking nonsense, Roy will be here in a few days."
"What's so great about Roy?" Laura scoffed, "He's not as charming as the men here."
"Yet you don't treat Steven any better," Josephine teased her, "You're always so harsh on him."
"That's his good fortune." Laura flipped her hair. "When you can think like me, you'll live a carefree life."
Josephine shook her head and said nothing.
Laura put her arm around Josephine's shoulder. "When my godson Jeffery arrives, you don't need to worry. I'll take him out for a few days first."
Josephine smiled. "Alright. I was planning to enroll him in kindergarten after the New Year, so we need to start looking for a suitable school."
Laura quickly said, "Leave that to me, too!"
Since giving birth to Jeffery, Josephine had indeed spent little time with him.
Now that Jeffery was coming back, as long as she could resolve the issue with Stuart, she could settle down here.
Over the past few years, she had made quite a bit of money from the projects she was involved in, so she wasn't financially strained.
Besides, she had no ambitions.
But that didn't mean she could just watch her parents hand over her grandparents' lifetime of hard work to Emily.
Just as she was thinking, Todd called.
Since Emily's birthday, Todd had been trying to make Emily an official member of the Kalmien Family and had even approached Andrew from the Haustia Family.
This time, he called Josephine and asked directly, "Do you still keep in touch with some of the shareholders in the company?"
Josephine's tone was calm. "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Come to the company."
"Tell me over the phone, I'm busy."
"What could you be busy with?" Todd said angrily, "You don't come to the company, so I let Emily get some experience, but the shareholders disagreed! Did you say something to them?"
"To let her be the general manager and get some experience?" Josephine laughed, asking, "She is your real daughter, isn't she?"
"So you do know!" Todd was even angrier. "So you told the shareholders to block her? What are you up to!"
"I've said it before, the things left by my grandparents, I would rather donate them than leave them to outsiders."
"I told you to remarry Stuart, but you didn't listen! I'm thinking of you because you're my daughter! But you? What have you done besides making us angry!" Todd yelled.
Josephine teased, "Who are you planning to marry Emily off to? Or rather, what benefits do you expect to gain from Emily? Make it clear, and maybe I'll consider giving Emily, this so-called sister, a position in the company."
Todd was stunned for a moment, then started cursing, "Is this how you talk to me? Josephine, from now on, I don't have a daughter like you!"
He hung up quickly.
Esther, who was listening nearby, asked, "Is she suspecting something?"
Todd shook his head. "Probably not. The urgent thing now is to quickly finalize Emily's marriage."
