Chapter 576 Pretending to Be Vain

Isadora's roommate was shocked. "You also carry fake goods?"

Isadora said, "So what? There are some things I can't buy either."

She didn't check whether the purse was real or not.

But she instinctively felt that Ulysses couldn't afford this purse.

However, she didn't care.

As long as it was from Ulysses, she liked it.

Whether it was real or fake, the sentiment was real, and that was enough.

Nicole even asked Ulysses specifically: [How does your girlfriend like the purse?]

Ulysses replied: [She loves it. Thanks, Grandma!]

Nicole said: [As long as she likes it, buy her another one next time!]

Ulysses didn't ask how much the purse cost.

It wasn't important.

When they had been together for just over two weeks, they ran into the guy who had confessed to Isadora in the classroom before.

When he saw them, he didn't feel embarrassed at all. Instead, he walked over and greeted them.

"You two are together now." He looked at Isadora and then at Ulysses. "Congratulations."

Isadora said, "Thanks. You're nice, but we're not a good match."

Ulysses thought Isadora was great in every way, except that she was too open-minded about relationships.

Whether it was the guy who confessed on the playground or this one, she was always straightforward and at ease.

There was no awkwardness at all.

But because she was so open, she was comfortable.

So Ulysses said, "Thanks, and I hope you find a suitable girlfriend soon."

The guy smiled, shook his head, and walked away.

Ulysses and Isadora didn't think much of this incident.

But after that, Ulysses always felt that no matter where he went, people were watching him.

But when he looked back, those gazes seemed to disappear.

It was very strange.

Before, many people at school would look at him.

Because he was indeed handsome.

But the looks these days were clearly different from before.

Until he saw his dorm mates also looking at him that way, Ulysses felt something was wrong.

He asked, "What's up with you guys? Are you hiding something from me?"

Lyle gave him a troubled look. "Ulysses..."

Ulysses was puzzled. "What's wrong with you guys? What's going on? Just say it, why are you hesitating?"

Another roommate, Ronin Sterling, spoke up, "I'll say it! Ulysses, they all say you're going to marry into Isadora's family!"

Ulysses was stunned, thinking he had misheard: "What?"

Lyle added, "It means you move into the girl's family, and if you have kids, they take her last name."

Ulysses was dumbfounded. "What do you mean?

"Isadora's my girlfriend. We've been together for less than twenty days, how are we talking about marriage already? And even if we were, why would I marry into her family?"

"No." Lyle was puzzled. "You don't know?"

Ronin also said, "That can't be right, or are you hiding it from us?"

Ulysses was so amused he got angry. "What would I hide from you? I'm just dating, why are there so many rumors about me?"

"So, you haven't talked about that?"

Ulysses was exasperated. "No."

"That's strange," Lyle analyzed. "So, you don't know that Isadora's boyfriends have to marry into her family?"

Ulysses was taken aback: "Her boyfriends have to marry into her family? What kind of rule is that?"

Lyle said, "The guy who confessed to her in the classroom, he confessed several more times after that."

Ronin continued, "He said that Isadora asked him if he could accept marrying into her family. If not, he shouldn't pursue her."

Ulysses was silent for at least five seconds before saying, "You guys are overthinking it. I think this might be her way of rejecting people."

Lyle thought about it. "That makes sense. If Isadora wanted you to marry into her family, she would have told you in advance!"

Ronin said. "But, Isadora's family is so well-off. If it were me, I'd be willing! Nowadays, some people mock the poor but not those in the sex industry. Being poor is what's pitiful."

The roommates started discussing again.

Ulysses smiled, shook his head, and went to bed.

In the following days, Ulysses didn't care about the looks from people around him anymore.

He didn't care much to begin with; he was just curious why people were looking at him that way.

Now that he knew the reason, he didn't think about it anymore.

His relationship with Isadora also got better and better.

Especially after their second kiss, following the one on the playground.

Their relationship became even sweeter.

It was then that Ulysses realized how happy kissing could be.

Recently, Isadora had been carrying the purse Ulysses gave her all the time.

One day in the classroom, Charlotte was gossiping with some girls again.

Isadora spoke up, "Are you guys done? Before talking about others, can you look at yourselves first?"

Charlotte couldn't hold back. "Isadora, what does what we say have to do with you? What? Are you the justice warrior?"

"Whether I'm a justice warrior or not doesn't matter. I recorded what you just said. Do you want the whole school to hear it?"

Charlotte was furious. "How could you do that?"

"I just want to tell you, no one is perfect. Stop gossiping about others and think about yourselves."

Charlotte snorted. "Yes, none of us is perfect. You're so capable, then don't carry a fake purse!"

"I want to, so what?" Isadora said, "It's not that I can't afford it. I can carry a ten-dollar canvas bag if I want. Are you brave enough to do that?"

Charlotte wasn't.

She was very materialistic and judged and respected people based on their appearance, not their inner qualities.

So, she thought ithat f she carried a ten-dollar canvas bag, people would look down on her.

But she never expected that Isadora would carry a fake purse one day.

She told her boyfriend she wanted that purse, and he said she was crazy.

That purse cost tens of thousands of dollars. Even if she had the money, she couldn't buy it.

It was a limited edition.

There were only a few in the country.

Charlotte didn't have one, and seeing Isadora didn't have one either, she felt a strange sense of balance.

But she thought Isadora definitely didn't want everyone to know about this. It was embarrassing.

So she said it out loud to embarrass Isadora.

Charlotte said, "Anyway, I wouldn't be like you, pretending to be rich with a fake purse!"

As soon as she finished speaking, someone said, "Who said this purse is fake?"

Everyone looked over.

Ulysses had arrived.

He came to pick up Isadora after class and happened to catch them arguing.

Isadora happily walked over and took his arm. "You're here!"
