Chapter 129 Divorce! Goodbye!
The divorce process went so smoothly that Josephine felt a bit suspicious.
Early in the morning, Stuart's lawyer was already waiting. After reviewing the new divorce agreement, Josephine was surprised.
They had a prenup, so if neither had objections, the divorce was straightforward.
Stuart, with all his power, didn't even show up, but Josephine still got the divorce certificate.
She stared at the document, feeling a bit dazed.
Her phone rang, snapping her back to reality. Without checking, she answered.
Todd's voice was angry. "Do you think you were already independent enough to make decisions about marriage on your own? If this affects business, how will you answer to me?"
Even though Andrew had told him the divorce was between Josephine and Stuart and wouldn't affect business, Todd still blamed her.
Todd used to be related to Stuart; people fawned over him everywhere.
Now, even if current business wasn't affected, what about the future?
The Kalmien family had reached this level thanks to the Haustia family.
Among the wealthy, there were differences. The higher the class, the bigger the gap, and the harder it was to climb.
Especially at the top, where money alone wasn't enough.
Todd had worked hard to get here, and now Josephine's divorce with Stuart almost sent him back to square one.
He was so angry he wanted to hit Josephine, but he didn't dare disobey Andrew.
While he couldn't hit her, he definitely had to scold her to vent his anger.
Josephine said, "Dad, I don't owe you anything. Since I was little, you and Mom hardly cared about me. After I got married, you never cared if I was okay. Over these three years, you've made quite a bit of money, haven't you?"
"This isn't about money," Todd roared, "Before you get the divorce certificate, go apologize to Stuart. There's nothing that can't be resolved!"
"It's too late," Josephine said, "I just got the divorce certificate. If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."
Ignoring Todd's furious outburst, Josephine hung up.
She really had no feelings for her parents. Even though she had longed for parental affection as a child, they had repeatedly disappointed her as she grew up.
They always cared about their own interests. They never cared about her feelings.
Josephine smiled wryly and was about to head to the parking lot when her phone rang again.
She looked at it and saw it was Stuart calling.
Josephine answered, "What do you want?"
"Are you satisfied now?" Stuart stood by the window, looking at the sky. "Josephine, you probably didn't expect me to actually divorce you, did you?"
Josephine laughed. "Mr. Haustia, I really didn't expect you to be so straightforward. Thanks for that."
"You!" Stuart gritted his teeth. "If you say a few soft words and beg me, I might give you another chance!"
"Give me what chance? Another chance to be in a loveless marriage with you?" Josephine chuckled. "Sorry, I'm not interested!"
"Josephine!" Stuart wanted to strangle her. "Fine, don't regret it!"
"I won't regret it," Josephine said, looking into the distance.
The weather was great today, with blue skies and white clouds. Although the temperature wasn't high, it was a sunny day.
She smiled. "Mr. Haustia, goodbye."
She hung up, tossed her phone into her bag, and walked away.
Stuart stared at his phone in disbelief. "Josephine? Josephine!"
She actually dared to hang up on him?
That "goodbye" sounded like "never see you again" to Stuart.
All his calmness vanished. He gripped his phone tightly, resisting the urge to smash it.
After a few deep breaths, he called Robin. "Move the dinner with your cousin to tonight. Invite more people. I got divorced; let's celebrate."
Robin was stunned for a moment, then asked, "Really divorced? Got the divorce certificate?"
His voice was filled with joy. Stuart snapped, "You're actually so happy."
"I'm happy for you," Robin quickly said, "This is a good thing; of course, we should celebrate! Don't worry, my cousin will definitely come. I'll invite more people!"
After talking to Stuart, Robin's smile grew even bigger. He picked up another phone and dialed Josephine's number.
Josephine had blocked him, so he used a different number to call.
Josephine was driving and didn't answer.
Robin called several more times, but still, no one picked up.
However, since they were already divorced, he wasn't in a hurry.
Thinking about this, he felt even more pleased.
That evening, at the most luxurious club in Hustalia, a private room was bustling with activity.
Many people were invited by Robin and knew they were celebrating Stuart's divorce and return to singlehood.
However, whenever someone mentioned the divorce and offered congratulations, Stuart's face turned grim.
He didn't look happy at all. Instead, he looked like someone had stolen something from him or owed him money.
Robin spoke up, "Stuart, my cousin is here. I'll go get her."
Robin was smart. He had already noticed that Stuart didn't really want the divorce.
No matter why Stuart didn't want the divorce, as long as it was finalized, Robin naturally didn't want them to have any more chances to reconnect.
As long as someone could capture Stuart's heart, that was enough.
Outside the private room, he gave Donna Martin some final instructions. "Strike a balance. Don't be overly enthusiastic, but don't be too cold either. Just find the right balance."
Donna nodded slightly. "I understand."
Robin opened the door for her, and the noisy room instantly quieted down.
Robin looked at Stuart. "Stuart, Donna is here."
Stuart looked up. He was stunned.
Even though he had seen surveillance footage before, now that Donna was right in front of him, he realized how much she resembled his first love.
Doris only had a few facial similarities with his first love.
However, Donna, from her features, aura, and even her style of dress, was about 80% similar to his first love!
Seeing Stuart's reaction, Robin was secretly pleased. He deliberately arranged for Donna to sit next to Stuart.
Donna performed well, appearing a bit aloof; but when she spoke, she had a touch of cute charm.
She had a very likable personality.
Stuart's gaze frequently fell on her.
However, Robin knew one thing well; men were often unappreciative of what came easily.
The harder something was to get, the more they longed for it. Just like him.
So, halfway through the gathering, Donna said she had something to attend to at home and had to leave early.
This was also part of his plan.
Once Donna left, Stuart seemed a bit unsettled.
Robin felt that his plan was starting to work and was quite pleased with himself.
Suddenly, Stuart looked at another person nearby. "Who did you just mention? Claudia?"
