Chapter 445 Can't You Cooperate with Me?
Jair's proposal vows weren't particularly novel, but when he looked at Claudia, those words came from his heart.
Claudia's eyes reddened, and she covered her mouth to keep from crying.
The people in the studio and their friends were all cheering and clapping.
Claudia had seen others experience romantic proposals like this, and now it was her turn.
Josephine, watching the video, was deeply moved. She had always treated Claudia like a sister, and now seeing her about to get married, she felt a surge of emotions.
She hoped the world would treat this kind and lovely Claudia well.
Finally, in front of everyone, Claudia accepted Jair's proposal.
Jair placed the prepared ring on her finger, and in his joy, he lifted Claudia and spun her around a few times.
Josephine thought, in the past, when watching TV, the male lead would also lift the female lead and spin her around when he was happy. But back then, she didn't feel much. Now, she felt very happy, with a big smile on his face.
It was a joyful weekend, and Jair invited everyone to dinner to celebrate.
At the dinner table, Steven quietly asked Laura, "How do you feel?"
Laura, afraid Claudia would hear, whispered, "Only Claudia likes these things, it's childish."
Steven had originally planned to propose in a similar way. Of course, it wouldn't be exactly like Jair's, but the general process would be similar. But Laura said it was childish.
He asked, "Then what do you like?"
Laura said, "I've already agreed with Josephine to have a joint wedding, why do you insist on proposing? It's unnecessary."
"I insist," Steven said. "What others have, you should have too."
"I don't care."
"But I care."
"You!" Laura glared at him, "You're so troublesome."
Steven held her hand under the table, "Can you just go along with me?"
Laura said, "My appearance fee is very high."
"I'll give you my bank card, spend as much as you want," Steven said. "Is that enough?"
Laura said, "You already gave it to me before, do you have more?"
Steven shook his head, "No more."
"Then what will you use to pay me?"
"Considering our many years of friendship."
Laura pushed him away, "Sorry, I only recognize money, not people."
Steven looked at her for a while and said, "If that's the case, then I'll have to borrow money."
"Borrowed money doesn't need to be repaid?"
Steven leaned closer, "Or, I could sell myself?"
"Who would buy someone like you?"
"Even if someone else wanted to buy, I wouldn't sell. I'd only sell to you, name your price."
Laura said, "Alright, seeing how pitiful you are, I'll give you this amount."
She held up five fingers.
Steven's eyes lit up, "Five million dollars?"
Laura smiled at him, then turned and took her bag, counted out five bills, and placed them on the table, "This."
"Five hundred dollars?" Steven couldn't believe his eyes, "I'm only worth five hundred dollars?"
Jeffery, unable to hear their conversation, asked curiously, "Laura, why are you giving Steven money?"
Laura smiled, "Giving him pocket money."
Jeffery was even more puzzled, "Pocket money? Steven is so grown up, he still needs pocket money?"
Liam, sitting nearby, said, "Jeffery, let me tell you, men, when they're young, ask their parents for pocket money. After they get married, they ask their wives for pocket money."
Jeffery looked at Stuart, "Dad, do you ask Mom for pocket money too?"
Stuart laughed, "I'm even worse off, I don't get any pocket money. When your mom gets back, I think we need to have a serious talk about this."
Jeffery looked at him sympathetically, "You're really pitiful. How about I give you some of my money?"
Liam said, "Jeffery, your dad isn't that pitiful."
Jeffery looked at him, "Liam, will you be like this in the future too?"
Liam said, "Maybe. So right now, I think being single is pretty good, at least I don't have to worry about not having pocket money."
"That's not right," Jeffery said. "When people grow up, they need to date and get married, it's a natural law, you have to follow it."
Everyone was amused by his words. Jeffery was just over four years old, seriously telling adults to date, it was indeed quite funny.
After lunch, Stuart prepared to take Jeffery back to Celestia Springs.
Previously, they had reached a consensus on the three couples having a joint wedding.
The wedding was planned for October, the season of harvest.
But all three women liked October, and the men had no objections.
Moreover, Josephine was currently not in the country, and by the time she returned and they started preparing for the wedding, it would be almost October.
Jair had set a good example, now it was up to Steven and Stuart.
Laura wasn't interested in these things, which gave Steven a headache.
He called Josephine for help.
Josephine said, "She doesn't like these things, so don't do them. When two people getting married, it doesn't necessarily need those ceremonies."
Steven said, "It's not that I insist on those ceremonies, I just think, when we look back in the future, it will be a beautiful memory."
"That's true, I'll try to persuade her."
Laura received a call from Josephine, and upon learning that Josephine's purpose was to persuade her, she said, "You're so busy, don't worry about these things, okay?"
Josephine said, "I don't want to worry either, but over the years, Steven has had a hard time. Even if you want to punish him, it's enough."
Laura said, "He's so old, how can he still be like a naive young boy? Besides, isn't it a man's dream for his girlfriend not to want ceremonies or romance?"
"Maybe Steven is different from other men," Josephine said. "Anyway, he wants to give you the best."
Laura lazily said, "Got it, I'll think about it."
Steven was overjoyed to hear she would consider it. But after a few days, Laura still showed no sign of relenting.
Steven asked her, "What if I go ahead with it..."
Laura said, "Then don't blame me for rejecting you in front of everyone!"
Steven's head drooped, like a large dog abandoned by its owner.
Laura asked, "Do you really want this kind of ceremony that much? Don't you think it's silly?"
Steven said, "I want it. When we look back in the future, we won't regret it."
"You really are..." Laura paused for a moment before saying, "How do you want to propose to me? Tell me, let's see if I can be satisfied."
Steven immediately said, "Flowers and a diamond ring are a must! And fireworks! I want to take you to the beach and set off lots of beautiful fireworks at night."
"Fireworks are banned, don't you know that basic fact?"
Steven said aggrievedly, "Can't you just go along with me a little?"
