Chapter 40 It's Not That I Don't Want to Sleep on the Couch
She didn't know how Cliff found out about her injury.
Josephine was surprised but quickly reassured him, not letting him worry, and said she would come over right away.
Liam didn't let Cliff pick her up; he took her there in person.
At the Haustia Manor, the butler came out to greet Josephine and personally pushed her wheelchair inside.
As soon as Josephine entered, Cliff was waiting at the door and asked, "How do you get hurt? Do you break any bones?"
Josephine hurriedly replied, "I accidentally sprained my foot, but it's not serious. Please don't worry."
Cliff held her hand, asking her with concern.
Finally, he said, "If something like this happens again, you are not allowed to keep it from me!"
Josephine curiously asked, "Grandpa Cliff, who told you about my injury?"
"If it isn't for Stuart's accidental slip, how long do you plan to keep it from me? You have to wait more than a month before the cast on your leg can be removed. Do you intend not to see me for over forty days?"
She didn't expect it was Stuart who mentioned it.
He had always been careful; how could he accidentally reveal it?
Josephine felt a moment of doubt, but Cliff's words shifted her attention.
In the afternoon, Cliff called Stuart and invited him for dinner.
"He's always so busy! He's busier than the prime minister! When will he be considerate of you? When can he have a child with you?"
Josephine didn't dare to say anything.
Stuart arrived quickly.
They had agreed before their marriage that even if there were no feelings between them, they would not let Cliff be sad or worried.
So, in front of Cliff, they always played the role of a loving couple.
At the dinner table, Stuart took care of Josephine from time to time, and Cliff's expression softened.
Usually, after dinner and a cup of coffee with Cliff, they should leave.
But Stuart said, "I have a project inspection nearby tomorrow, so I won't leave tonight."
Would Stuart stay here tonight?
If he stayed, Cliff would definitely not let Josephine go.
At the Haustia Manor.
Josephine didn't say anything, nor did she show any expression, but she was very angry in her heart.
Stuart misunderstood her because of a photo, and then did something so excessive to her and even fought with Liam.
Josephine hadn’t settle scores with him yet, and now she had to sleep with him in the Haustia Manor.
Sure enough, Cliff happily said, "That's great; Josie will stay tonight. Since you're not in a hurry to leave, Josie will play chess with me."
What could Josephine say?
Cliff went to bed early, and around nine o'clock, he won the game and happily let them go upstairs to rest.
The stairs of the Haustia Manor are wooden, and Josephine was about to hop up with one foot, but Stuart picked her up in front of Cliff.
Cliff watched happily from below.
Stuart looked down and saw Josephine, who had just been chatting and laughing with Cliff. She now had a serious expression and a stiff body, completely different from before, and Cliff couldn't see her.
Stuart carried her back to the room and gently placed her on the bed.
Josephine, leaning on the head of the bed, was about to leave. "I'll sleep on the couch."
Stuart stood by the bed, pressing her shoulder with one hand. "You sleep on the bed."
Josephine looked up at him. "If I refuse, will you force me?"
Last night, she also looked at him with a determined gaze and asked him to let her go.
Stuart was actually a little moved and quickly averted his gaze: "I was drunk yesterday."
"You were drunk?" Josephine didn't believe him. "If you were really drunk, let alone having sex, you wouldn't even be able to be erect. Who do you think you can fool with that?"
Stuart was a bit angry for some reason. "We are a couple, right? It's normal for me to want sex, isn't it?"
"I say I don't want to, but you insist. Forcing your wife to have sex within marriage is illegal; don't act like you don't know!"
Suddenly, Stuart said, "Today, Liam..."
Josephine was even more angry when she heard this. "You even hit my friend!"
Stuart couldn't help but say, "Can't you be reasonable? Even if I was wrong last night, it was Liam who started it today! I wouldn't have invited him to my company for a fight."
In fact, Josephine guessed that it was probably Liam who started it. Liam's temper was indeed too impulsive.
Seeing Josephine's silence, Stuart continued, "He tells me that the photo is indeed taken out of context, and I am wrong to blame you." Josephine was somewhat surprised to see him admit his mistake so easily.
"But you have to consider the Kalmien family's business and have less contact with Liam in the future!"
Josephine immediately changed her attitude and said, "That's impossible!"
Stuart was also angry. "I won't interfere with anything else, but when it comes to Liam, you have to stay away from him in the future, whether you agree or not!"
Josephine asked in confusion, "You know that Liam and I are just friends, so why do you have to force me to do this?"
Stuart said, "I hate him."
Josephine thought of their bad relationship since they were young, which had also caused a lot of attention when they were in high school. She married Stuart, and Liam almost broke off his friendship with her because of this.
It was reasonable for Stuart to hate Liam. "Then I also hate Doris," Josephine snorted.
Stuart said, "It's different. You don't have any grudges with her. Why do you hate her?"
Josephine smiled and didn't want to argue with him anymore, so she said, "Move."
Stuart looked at her again and said, "I'll sleep on the couch."
Josephine warned him, "Then you're not allowed on the bed!"
Stuart said coldly, "I don't want to be on the bed!"
As a result, when Stuart finished his shower, he found Josephine was already asleep.
It had been a long day. She hadn't slept well last night, and she had deliberately tried to please Cliff at the Haustia Manor, and she was indeed tired.
She moved, and her pajamas were open, revealing her flawless skin with some kiss marks.
Stuart was a little forced and kicked the small table next to the sofa. The water glass on the table slid down and spilled onto the couch.
Stuart snorted, looked at the sofa with some disdain, and then got into bed without any psychological burden.
Josephine, who was asleep, felt the familiar warmth beside her and turned into a comfortable embrace.
Stuart's hand was on her waist, gently rubbing it, and Josephine made a few comfortable sounds, her lips moving.
Stuart got closer to her and said in a cold voice, "It's not that I want to sleep with you; it's that the sofa is wet. And it's not that I want to hold you; it's that you want to hold me."
Josephine woke up in the middle of the night.
She had drunk a lot of coffee with Cliff last night, so she wanted to go to the bathroom.
As soon as she woke up, she was still a little confused and subconsciously moved.
Then she felt a big hand on her waist, patting her as if comforting a child.
