Chapter 581 Why Not Follow Her Idea
Isadora's eyes were also red.
How could she not have feelings for Ulysses?
Initially, she wanted Ulysses to be her boyfriend partly because he was poor, but that was only part of the reason.
More importantly, she had to like him first.
Otherwise, why would she let someone she didn't like marry into her family? That would be crazy.
But facing Ulysses' questioning, she felt wronged too.
Didn't Ulysses sense whether she had feelings for him?
She said, "You're questioning me like this because you've already convicted me in your heart, right? Do you think I chose you as my boyfriend just because it was convenient, not because I liked you?"
Ulysses retorted, "Isn't that the case? Otherwise, why did your attitude change when you found out my family had money?"
"Ulysses!"
Ulysses didn't back down: "Am I wrong? Then tell me, do you have feelings for me or not?"
Isadora stood up and looked at him: "No! No! Are you satisfied now?"
After saying that, she ran out.
Ulysses instinctively went after her.
But as he tried to run out of the restaurant, someone stopped him.
He hadn't paid yet.
After hurriedly paying, he ran out, but Isadora was already gone.
After that, Ulysses couldn't reach Isadora.
He had been to Isadora's place before, but clearly, she wasn't there.
In the end, Ulysses had no choice but to go to Isadora's house to find her.
But he waited for a long time near Isadora's villa and didn't see her.
Instead, he saw Isadora's parents.
He didn't know them, but it was easy to guess their identities.
They looked somewhat like Isadora, were of the right age, and went into the villa without coming out again.
As it got late, Isadora still didn't show up.
Ulysses waited until almost midnight before going home.
The next morning, he went again.
After waiting for three days, he guessed that Isadora probably wasn't home.
Sure enough, on the third afternoon, he saw Isadora's parents leaving together.
Zander said, "Izzy has been gone for three days, and I really miss her."
Delphine smiled and said, "Who doesn't? I wonder what's up with Izzy. She just got back from her hometown and left again."
"Let's not talk about it. Let's hurry and bring her back."
They got in the car and left.
Ulysses first heard the name "Izzy" and almost thought he was in the wrong place.
But then he heard them mention going back hometown, and he was sure.
Izzy, could it be a nickname for Isadora?
It sounded nice.
Ulysses sighed again.
Isadora had gone back home, and he couldn't follow her.
He could only wait for her to come back.
No matter what, she couldn't just break up with him in such a muddled way, right?
They had to talk it out, right?
Otherwise, it would be too irresponsible.
Ulysses knew Isadora had gone back homwtown, and since it was a bit far from here, Zander and Delphine might not return until the next afternoon.
If they were delayed, it was also possible they wouldn't be back until the day after tomorrow.
So he went back to school.
It had been almost ten days since Nicole came to school and exposed that his family had money.
In these ten days, Ulysses' life hadn't changed much.
His dorm mates joked with him a bit, but after that, things went back to normal.
Those he was close to didn't care about it.
Those he wasn't close to, Ulysses didn't care about either.
When he returned to school, he didn't expect to run into Charlotte.
Of course, he didn't know that Charlotte had come to find him on purpose.
As soon as he left the classroom, he saw Charlotte.
He was in a bad mood and didn't want to talk to anyone.
Seeing the girl he once liked but now felt uncomfortable around, he glanced at her and then looked away, walking off.
But Charlotte called out to him, "Ulysses."
Although Ulysses no longer liked her, his upbringing didn't allow him to ignore her.
He asked, "What's up?"
Charlotte walked up to him and said, "Can you do me a favor?"
Ulysses stepped back and asked, "What favor?"
Charlotte bit her lip and said, "I broke up with my boyfriend..."
Before she could finish, Ulysses took two more steps back and raised his hand to stop her. "Don't say it! You breaking up with your boyfriend has nothing to do with me, right?"
Charlotte shook her head, looking at him with teary eyes. "No, I just wanted to ask you for a favor."
Ulysses said, "Sorry, I probably can't help. You should ask someone else."
After saying that, Ulysses turned and walked away quickly, as if something was chasing him.
Charlotte really chased after him and said, "Ulysses, don't overthink it. I just want to borrow some money from you!"
Ulysses was stunned.
Did he hear that right?
Charlotte wanted to borrow money from him?
He was still working part-time every day!
Didn't Charlotte call him poor before?
Oh, right, now everyone knew he had money.
He wasn't the poor guy who only knew how to work part-time anymore.
He stopped, turned around, and looked at Charlotte. "You want to borrow money from me? Why?"
Charlotte said, "I broke up with my boyfriend, and I want to cash out the things he bought me to pay him back."
Ulysses made a sound of acknowledgment.
Charlotte said this to make Ulysses think she wasn't materialistic.
But Ulysses didn't think that much.
He just said, "Why would you think of borrowing money from me? Yes, I have money, but we're not close enough for that, right?"
Charlotte explained, "Because only you have the financial means."
Ulysses scoffed. "So, after borrowing, how do you plan to pay it back? Do you have a plan?"
Charlotte was stunned.
Seeing her expression, Ulysses knew she hadn't thought about it.
He said, "What do you take me for? An ATM? We have no special relationship, so why should I lend you money?"
"Ulysses, we're classmates, and you used to like me. Now that I'm in trouble, why can't you help me?"
Ulysses almost laughed in anger. "Don't try to guilt-trip me. Why should I help you? It's my money, and I don't want to lend it. What can you do about it?"
After saying that, he glanced at Charlotte, left a "ridiculous" comment, and turned to leave.
Charlotte looked at him in disbelief, feeling she had never been so humiliated in her life.
Was Ulysses even a man?
Why didn't he do what she wanted?
