Chapter 502 Go and See Him

Gerald didn't get sick often. Although he was busy, he basically got up to run every morning.

Moreover, he liked boxing when he was young. Now, even though he didn't have much time, he still went to the boxing gym to spar with the coach whenever he had the chance.

So, he was always been in good health, which was why he looked like he was in his thirties even though he was in his forties.

A man who maintained a good physique and mental state would always appear younger.

After all, men started to look old and greasy when they began to gain weight.

A potbelly and a straight posture were always a stark contrast.

Gerald had a fever, reaching 102 degrees Fahrenheit, so Ulysses didn't go out.

Given his current condition, they didn't dare let Josephine come over, especially since she was pregnant. It was better to be cautious.

Today was supposed to be the day Josephine returned to the Clarence Mansion, but with Gerald like this, Nicole insisted she stay away.

By ten o'clock, Gerald's fever still hadn't subsided, so Nicole and Ulysses urged him to go to the hospital.

Nicole stayed home waiting for news while Ulysses accompanied Gerald to the hospital.

Stuart, upon hearing the news, also went to the hospital to wait for them.

At the hospital, the doctor listened to Gerald's chest and suggested an X-ray, noting some inflammation in his lungs.

After the examination, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Once the IV was set up, Gerald urged Stuart to leave. "You should go back. The hospital isn't a good place to be. Don't risk bringing anything back to Josephine."

Stuart replied, "It's fine. I'll find a place to shower and change clothes before going back, and I'll use some disinfectant."

"Yes, be cautious. Josephine is newly pregnant, and we can't take any risks."

Stuart added, "Gerald, you should rest. The doctor said you got sick because you were overworked and caught a chill."

Ulysses chimed in, "Dad, did you stay up late last night? It's the New Year, and you didn't take the chance to rest."

Others might not know, but Gerald was well aware.

Overwork was one thing, but the cold shower last night was the main culprit.

He hadn't expected such a strong reaction and was a bit unprepared for it.

After all, he had thought he had lost interest in women.

But suddenly, he felt something, which was quite surprising.

At his age, he didn't expect to be so easily affected, especially since he had turned down many women over the years.

Those who tried to get close to him never had a good outcome.

So, in recent years, people had stopped trying, knowing they couldn't break through that way.

Gerald always thought he had self-control.

But last night, he did have a reaction.

He and Kathy hadn't even had the slightest intimate contact!

He figured it must be because he had been too busy lately, not even having time for self-relief.

That was why he had such a strong reaction.

He hadn't expected that a cold shower would land him in the hospital.

Ulysses called Nicole to update her on the situation.

With pneumonia, Gerald would need to stay in the hospital for at least five days, so he informed his workplace.

If it were any other illness, he might not be so cautious, but pneumonia can be complicated, and the doctor advised him to take it seriously.

Plus, with a pregnant woman at home, Gerald didn't want to prevent Josephine from coming back because of him.

So, he decided to stay in the hospital to fully recover.

Stuart made arrangements and then went home.

With a pregnant woman at home, he couldn't be at ease.

But Gerald couldn't be left alone with just Ulysses to take care of him.

After all, in everyone's eyes, Ulysses was still a child.

Nicole had already instructed the housekeeper to start cooking and send meals to the hospital.

Stuart also sent a housekeeper to help out at the hospital.

Josephine was now the priority, not allowed to visit her parents' home or the hospital.

She looked at Gerald's test results and was relieved that it wasn't too serious. Once the fever subsided and he took a few days of antibiotics, he should be fine.

But like the rest of the family, she felt that Ulysses was still a child and wouldn't know how to take care of someone.

At this moment, she wished Gerald had a woman by his side to take care of him.

Although the housekeeper was attentive, it was still somewhat inconvenient.

Josephine secretly messaged Kathy: [Kathy, Gerald is sick!]

Kathy immediately replied: [What? What's wrong? Is it serious?]

Josephine: [Pneumonia! High fever that won't go down!]

Kathy was very worried and immediately called.

Josephine answered.

Kathy's voice was urgent. "How did he get pneumonia? Is he too tired? Is he hospitalized?"

Hearing her concern, Josephine felt reassured.

No matter what, Kathy still cared about Gerald.

She said, "He's already hospitalized. There were a lot of things going on during the New Year, and he was also working overtime before that."

Kathy said, "He's just too busy with work."

Josephine said, "Actually, Kathy, I've told you before, even if you and Gerald end up together, he won't have much time and energy for the family. Can you accept that?"

Kathy smiled, "Mr. Clarence and I are impossible. Liking him is just a spiritual support for me. I haven't thought that far ahead."

"How can you not think about it?" Josephine couldn't help but say, "Gerald kept the scarf you gave him very well!"

"Really?" Kathy was surprised, "You're not lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you?" Josephine said, "Anyway, don't lose hope. I think Gerald has some feelings for you."

"It might just be out of respect. It doesn't necessarily mean he has feelings for me."

"Oh, don't be shy!" Josephine said, "I'm pregnant now and can't go to the hospital. Kathy, do you want to visit Gerald?"

"I want to, but..." Kathy had her concerns. "Wouldn't it be too abrupt for me to go?"

"He's sick, and you're visiting. What's abrupt about that? But make sure to wear a mask so you don't get infected."

"I'm fine," Kathy said, "But you really shouldn't go to the hospital, okay?"

"I know."

Josephine had told her about the pregnancy a few days ago.

Kathy was very happy at the time.

They had also talked about children.

Kathy said she didn't have a strong desire to have children. If her future partner wanted kids, she would have them. If not, she was fine with not having any.

Josephine thought Kathy and Gerald were a perfect match.

In terms of looks, personality, family, and career, Kathy was very suitable.

Josephine said, "I'll send you the hospital's location. You can visit Gerald."

Kathy softly said, "Okay."
