Chapter 519 Where is the Gentlemanly Demeanor?

Given Elara's status, it was actually easier for her to get close to Gerald than it was for Kathy.

Tonight, Gerald had a social engagement.

It was a charity event organized by the government to thank the participating entrepreneurs after the successful completion of a project.

Gerald had to give a speech.

He originally planned to leave right after his speech if there was nothing else, and then went home.

However, it would probably be after eight o'clock by the time it ended, which would be a bit late to meet Kathy.

But since he had nothing planned for tomorrow, he thought they could have dinner together in the evening.

After his speech, he was preparing to leave under the guidance of the staff.

Unexpectedly, Elara suddenly stopped him.

The staff gave Gerald a look.

Gerald nodded, and the staff tactfully left.

Gerald also had a few words to say to Elara.

He asked, "Ms. West, what can I do for you?"

"Gerald, there's no need to be so formal between us," Elara said. "Our families have a good relationship, and we grew up together..."

Gerald interrupted her, "If you have nothing to say, I'm in a hurry to leave."

"Did you really get a girlfriend?" Elara asked directly. "Does your family know?"

She was deliberately asking this.

Since Josephine knew about Kathy, the Clarence family must know as well.

But she wanted to get an answer personally.

Gerald said, "Yes, they know. After all, it's a relationship with the intention of marriage."

Upon hearing this, Elara's eyes immediately reddened.

She had always liked Gerald. Although she had a bad temper, her feelings were genuine.

When she was younger, she liked Gerald, but before she could do anything about it, Gerald got married.

Fortunately, a few years later, Gerald's wife passed away.

Elara thought she had a chance and immediately got a divorce, but to her surprise, her confession was rejected.

Moreover, Gerald's attitude towards her was genuinely cold.

Later, Elara let things develop naturally, thinking that since there was no one else around, Gerald, they might end up together in the future.

Who knew Kathy would appear?

She said, "What do you like about her? You two are not suitable for each other at all!"

Gerald frowned at her, "Do I need a reason to like my girlfriend? It's strange. Of course, I like her, that's why I'm with her."

Gerald had never said he liked Kathy, but when proving this relationship to others, he naturally used the word "like."

After saying it, he was a bit stunned himself.

Elara, however, was filled with jealousy, "Have you known each other for a long time? What do you like about her? What makes her worthy of your affection?"

Gerald didn't have time to sort out his emotions and said, "How long we've known each other and what I like about her are questions I don't have an obligation to answer for you, right?"

"Why do you like her? Am I not better than her?" Elara's eyes reddened. "Clearly, we are more suitable! We've known each other for so many years, and our families get along well. If you want to date and have a girlfriend, why not consider me first?"

Gerald looked at her inexplicably, " Whether we are suitable or not, the first thing I consider when being with someone is the feeling. How could it be possible with you? Why should I consider you?"

"You!" Elara burst into tears, "I've liked you for so many years! Why are you treating me like this?"

Gerald said, "Just because you like me, I should like you? What kind of bandit logic is that?"

"When I confessed to you back then, you didn't find a girlfriend for so many years. Why are you looking for one now?"

Gerald felt that the person in front of him was simply unreasonable and making a scene.

He said, "I didn't find a girlfriend for so many years because I didn't meet the right one. Now that I have, and I like her, of course, I want to be with her. Ms. West, I don't care what you think; I just want to tell you that my business has nothing to do with you. What you want to do is your business and has nothing to do with me."

Having said this, he didn't want to say anything more.

Seeing Elara's unstable emotions, Gerald didn't want to stay with her for another second.

He finished speaking and was about to leave.

Elara suddenly hugged him from behind.

This was a VIP passage, and there was no one around now, but who knew if someone might come by.

Gerald directly pushed her away.

Elara, grabbed by the wrist, cried out in surprise and hit the wall.

Her wrist hurt, and her shoulder hurt from the impact.

She clutched her shoulder and looked at Gerald in disbelief, "You actually hit me?"

Gerald looked at her coldly, "What? You think I wouldn't hit a woman?"

"You're a man! How can you hit a woman?"

Gerald said, "Just because I'm a man, I deserve to be harassed by you? If you had any self-respect, you wouldn't do such things, right? Elara, don't make me look down on you!"

Elara felt utterly humiliated.

She said, "Gerald! You! You're too much!"

Gerald looked at her in surprise, "Am I too much? You're the one being unreasonable and slandering me. You forcibly hugged me, and I pushed you away. That's called being too much?"

Elara was at a loss for words, and besides, it was indeed her fault.

She could only cry and say, "I just like you. Is it wrong to like someone?"

Gerald coldly said, "There's nothing wrong with liking someone, but the difference between humans and animals is that humans have propriety, justice, integrity, and honor. If you like someone, the least you can do is respect them. From what I see, your affection is nothing more than that."

After saying this, he turned and left.

He took out a wet wipe from his pocket and wiped his hands, feeling disgusted from touching Elara's wrist.

Elara shouted behind him, "You'll regret this! You will definitely regret this!"

Gerald turned back to look at her, "Stay away from me and the people around me, or don't blame me for being unkind to the West family."

After saying this, he left without looking back.

Elara had never been so humiliated.

She immediately called home, "Dad! Gerald bullied me!"

When Nicole received the call, Gerald hadn't arrived home yet.

When he got home, he saw Nicole sitting on the sofa with a stern face, unlike before when she would greet him warmly as soon as he walked in.

"Mom, I'm back." He looked around and asked, "Didn't Josephine come over today?"

"She did, but she left." Nicole looked at him coldly, "Come here, I have something to ask you."

Gerald said, "I'll go upstairs and change my clothes first..."

"Come here first!"

Gerald had no choice but to sit down and ask, "Mom, what's wrong?"

"What's wrong? You've got some nerve! How did I raise you? Where's your gentlemanly demeanor? How can you, as a man, lay hands on a girl?"

Gerald was stunned for a moment, then realized, "Are you talking about Elara? She called you?"
