Chapter 48 Do You Want Him to Divorce
Robin disliked Liam as much as Stuart did.
"Is the hospital yours? It has nothing to do with you," Robin said, only to realize that the hospital belonged to the Clement family.
He was so focused on arguing with Liam that he forgot about this.
Sure enough, Liam said, "The hospital is mine. So, what are you doing here?"
Because of Liam, Robin couldn't talk to Josephine alone, so he left angrily once again.
Liam and Josephine discussed surgical cases and had dinner at a restaurant near the hospital.
After discussing the patient's condition, Liam asked, "Why does Robin come to see you? I saw him when you were in surgery last time."
"I don't know," Josephine said, "I don't think he could have anything important."
"I don't like him and Stuart," Liam said angrily, "You saved them. How can they be so ungrateful?"
"Let's not talk about it," Josephine frowned. "It's been a long time."
"No matter how long it's been, you saved them," Liam said. "Although the military doesn't allow this to be publicized, I'm angry when I think about their attitude towards you."
"Even if it weren't them, I would have saved them," Josephine said, "And I don't want to force Stuart to like me with this. How could I do that? If he were aware of my rescue, would he become fond of me? It’s not that simple."
Liam wanted to say something else, but Josephine reminded him, "Let's talk about something else."
Liam could only nod.
When they finished their meal and asked for the bill, Liam suddenly looked back.
Josephine asked, "What's wrong?"
Liam felt like someone was watching them, but when he looked around, he didn't see anyone suspicious.
He shook his head.
Not long after, Doris received photos from a private detective.
Stuart was on a business trip, and this time, he didn't take her with him.
She continued to have someone follow Josephine and take photos to send to her. She selected a few images to send to Robin.
As usual, her phone rang just after she sent the photos. She thought it was Robin, but it was an unfamiliar number.
She answered the call and said, "Hello."
A man on the other end of the line. "Are you Doris?"
"Yes. Who are you?"
"You don't need to know who I am. I want to know if you want Stuart to divorce."
Doris's heart skipped a beat.
She wanted Stuart to divorce as soon as possible, but she had to appear to be considerate and sensible and couldn't be arrogant and unreasonable, so she couldn't make demands on Stuart.
And she didn't know who this man was and why he suddenly asked her this question.
She asked cautiously, "Who are you? What do you want?"
The man smiled, "Don't worry, I mean no harm. I can only tell you that as long as you want Stuart to divorce, we are allies."
Doris thought, 'Does he want Stuart to divorce too?'
She remained vigilant. "I don't know what you're talking about..."
"I can help you," the man interrupted Doris, "I will come up with a detailed plan to deepen the relationship between you and Stuart. No matter what I do, Stuart will not suspect you. You don't need to doubt my sincerity; I said we are allies."
Doris was not a fool and immediately asked, "What benefit do you get from Stuart's divorce?"
The man said, "If Stuart divorces, Josephine will be single. What benefits do you think that I can get?"
Doris understood.
This man liked Josephine!
She thought for a moment and asked, "What do you want to do for me?"
The man said, "There's a charity gala tomorrow. Find a way to get Stuart to take you."
At this time, Claudia also talks to Josephine about this. "Someone gives me two invitations. I have to go.
Since your foot is better, accompany me there."
Josephine didn't have surgery tomorrow and agreed to Claudia's request.
Claudia needed to attend such events now, but Josephine that it's not safe for her to go alone.
After Josephine agreed, Claudia’s mind immediately focused on the formal attire for both of them.
In such occasions, formal attire was required.
Josephine just went along with her. When the time came, dressing up nicely could also serve as some advertisement for Claudia.
However, Josephine didn't expect Stuart to be at the charity event as well.
When she and Claudia arrived, the event had already started, but some important figures were still missing.
Even though Josephine wasn't Stuart's wife, the Kalmien family was well-known in the Hustalia.
So, she introduced Claudia to some wealthy ladies, and Claudia gained something from the interaction.
As soon as they found a place to sit and rest, they heard a familiar voice.
"Ms. Kalmien, Ms. Howard."
They looked up and saw three women standing nearby. The one in the middle was wearing a lot of jewelry and looked arrogant.
She was Caitlin Lawson, whose family was in the jewelry business. She was spoiled and had a history of conflict with Claudia.
After the Howard family went bankrupt, she mocked Claudia several times. Her friends had also bullied Claudia on multiple occasions.
Josephine was about to speak, but Claudia decided to suppress her anger. She didn't want Josephine to offend the Lawson family because of her.
She pulled Josephine and said, "Let's go over there."
Josephine didn't want to cause trouble for Claudia, so she glared at Caitlin and stood up to leave.
"Stop!" Caitlin blocked their way. "Are you allowed to leave? Josephine, is your dress made by Claudia?"
Josephine's dress was pure black, with diamonds only on the shoulders, making her look noble and skin smooth.
Josephine didn't want to argue with Caitlin. She said, "Caitlin, if you want a dress, you can ask Claudia to design one for you. Don't you have the money for it?"
Caitlin's expression turned sour. Before she could speak, Josephine continued, "You'd better think about whether you can stand up to the Kalmien family. And if the Kalmien family alone isn't enough to make you yield, what about the Haustia family then?"
Caitlin thought for a long time and suddenly said, "I know Stuart doesn't care about you."
"So what? I'm his wife," Josephine said. "He will protect me instead of you."
Although Josephine had already planned to divorce, the Haustia family still had a lot of influence.
And her confidence came from Cliff, not Stuart.
So, she dared to say such things.
As soon as she finished speaking, the woman next to Caitlin said,
"Then let’s see whether Mr. Haustia will protect you."
Caitlin asked, "Is he here?"
The woman said, "He just arrived. I saw him come with Doris."
What happened in the upper society always spread quickly.
Josephine looked up and saw the man she hadn't seen in over half a month.
