Chapter 42 No Morals!
Robin didn't expect that Josephine didn't give Jair any face either.
Jair wasn't upset; he just said, "Then you go ahead."
In front of Jair, Robin didn't say anything more.
He drove Jair to the restaurant and called Stuart on the way.
When they arrived at the restaurant, they found that Stuart had arrived before them.
Stuart wasn't alone; he was with a lovely girl.
She was smiling and talking to Stuart.
Jair furrowed his brow, Stuart stood up, and they high-fived.
The three of them sat down, and before Jair could ask, Doris spoke first.
"Stuart, who is this? Is he a soldier? He looks so cool!"
As she spoke, she linked her arm with Stuart's, and Stuart didn't pull away.
Jair's brow furrowed even more.
Stuart said, "He's my good friend. We grew up together when we were kids, and now..."
Before Stuart could finish, Jair stood up and said, "Stuart, come out."
Jair was older than Stuart, and many people in his family were involved in politics and the military. He had a good relationship with the Haustia family.
Jair walked out, Stuart patted Doris's hand, and followed.
Doris looked at Robin and said, "Does he have a problem with me?"
Robin poured a cup of coffee and said, "No, that's just his personality. Back when we were in school, he had a nickname, the director of the moral education department; you know what that means, right?"
Doris asked, "Is he close to you guys?"
"Of course," Robin said, "We're close."
Doris seemed to be thinking about something.
Stuart was called outside by Jair, who asked him, "What's going on?"
"Who is that girl?" Jair asked directly, "Do you divorce Josephine?"
Stuart didn't know what he was talking about.
Stuart frowned, "We don't get a divorce."
Jair looked at him, "Then what are you doing? Keeping a mistress? Having an affair? Stuart, how could you do such a thing?"
"It's not what you think," Stuart didn't know how to explain, so he said, "You also know, my marriage with Josephine is just a business alliance."
"So what? You're married; she's your wife. It's one thing if you had rumors before, but this time, you really have a lover. You've really disappointed me!"
"It's not what you think," Stuart said, "I'm just taking care of her; we have no other relationship."
"Who would believe that?" Jair's gaze was stern, "Stuart, how could you do such a thing as a man?"
Stuart handed him a cigarette, "It's really not what you think. Don't worry, I won't divorce."
Jair took the cigarette, "If you've done something to hurt Josephine, you should divorce her and not delay her."
When they returned to the private room, Doris didn't dare to touch Stuart again, nor did she dare to call his name.
Jair didn't give her another look. Doris seemed very obedient, but with the hand she had under the table, her nails were already pinched in her palm.
After a while, Jair went out to answer the phone, and Robin found an excuse to go out as well.
Doris looked at Stuart with a sad look, "Stuart, does Jair not like me?"
"You don't have to worry about him." Stuart spoke softly, "That's just how he is; he's not a bad person at heart."
"But I'm so scared." Doris sniffed, "I always feel like he's going to hit me."
"Don't worry, he doesn't hit women, let alone a lovely girl like you." Stuart smiled, "In the morning, a flying insect could make you cry; why are you so afraid?"
He received a phone call in the morning, and Doris was crying loudly.
It turned out that there was a bug in her house that scared her.
Doris punched him softly, "I was just scared, you know."
Stuart suddenly remembered that one time he went to find Josephine, and she was actually dissecting a white mouse.
Her movements were skillful with her cold gaze.
Stuart came back to his senses and saw Doris's timid look, so he patted her hand and said, "It's okay, I'm here."
Outside the private room, at the end of the corridor, Jair hung up the phone and saw Robin.
Robin walked over and asked him, "Is there anything wrong with the military?"
Robin shook his head, not answering, and asked, "What's happening between Stuart and Doris? Stuart makes a mistake, and you're not trying to advise him at all?"
Robin smiled and said, "It seems you never really see what she looks like."
"So what if she's pretty?" Jair said. "There are many beautiful girls in the world. Once a man is married, he should be faithful. That's the basic bottom line!"
Robin shook his head. "It's not about looks. I think Doris is far less attractive than Josephine. What I mean is..."
He leaned in and whispered something.
Jair's frown deepened. "What is he thinking? This is absurd!"
Robin said, "You know he's actually very stubborn."
"He's married, yet he always has so many wild thoughts! If he is under my command, I would give him a good beating!"
Robin hurriedly said, "You also know that this kind of business marriage is different from a normal marital relationship."
Jair said, "I don't know! All I know is that marriage is a sacred thing. Since he married her, he should be responsible for her for a lifetime!"
Jair's worldview was vastly different from Robin's, and Robin couldn't say much more.
Jair spent most of his time in the military. When he was young, he used to play with Stuart, Robin, and others because their fathers were close.
Jair got into the military academy at the age of eighteen and didn't have much contact with them afterward.
Their current good relationship was all thanks to their childhood bond.
When he returned to the private room and took a closer look at Doris, she did seem somewhat familiar.
After dinner, as they bid farewell at the restaurant's entrance, Jair suddenly spoke, "I'll take Ms. Kelly home."
Doris was startled.
It was Stuart who brought her here and obviously she didn’t need Jair to take her home
Why would Jair offer to take her home? Did he want to do anything to her?
Stuart and Robin, of course, wouldn't think Jair had any ulterior motives because that was impossible.
The two vaguely guessed what Jair's intentions were.
Stuart nodded. "Alright, I have something else to do."
Doris looked at Stuart pitifully. "I..."
Stuart looked at her. "It's okay. You go with him."
Doris kept looking back and got into Jair's car.
As soon as she sat down, Jair spoke, "Stuart is married. Being with him is destroying his family, and that's immoral."
Doris was scolded as soon as she got in the car, her eyes instantly turning red as she looked at him with tears. "Is it wrong to like someone?"
"If Stuart is poor, would you still like him? You like him because he's rich and powerful, right? That's vanity and a character flaw."
Doris was on the verge of tears. "I'm not that kind of person!"
Jair delivered the final blow. "If you leave Stuart, I'll believe you."
Doris's felt very shattered inside.
