Chapter 144 Josephine, You've Got Some Nerve.
Liam got Josephine's visa sorted quickly, and she was told to pick it up on Monday.
It was Friday, so they decided to celebrate.
Being single with no family ties, they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted.
Josephine had been visiting the hospital occasionally but mostly hung out with Laura, enjoying life.
That evening, while having dinner, they unexpectedly ran into Doris again.
It was no coincidence; Doris was clearly prepared and headed straight for Josephine.
Standing at their table, Doris said, "We need to talk. Can you step outside for a moment?"
Josephine had no good feelings towards Doris, who had knowingly crossed the line with Stuart, despite knowing he was married.
They were eating Mexican food, and the place was lively.
Doris looked at them and felt abandoned by the world.
She was struggling and didn't think Josephine should be so carefree.
"Who are you?" Laura spoke up. "Showing up while we're eating is so rude. You're ruining our meal."
Doris, now in despair, didn't care what others said.
She just stared at Josephine and said, "I have something to tell you about Stuart."
Josephine replied, "Sorry, anything about Stuart has nothing to do with me. Please leave and don't disturb us."
"Josephine!" Doris's anger began to rise. "Don't be so smug. Who do you think you are?"
Laura was about to curse, but Josephine held her back.
Then she looked at Doris and said, "Do you know what you look like right now?"
Doris instinctively asked, "What?"
Josephine said, "You deliberately show up in front of us, trying to cause trouble to attract attention, just like someone with a secret crush who doesn't realize they're out of their league."
Laura immediately clapped. "Good one!"
Doris's face turned blushed with anger. "Do you think you're great? You're just someone who got dumped too! You're not that important either."
Laura put her arm around Josephine's shoulder. "Of course she is. Josephine's face says it all. But you, you should look in a mirror and see where you get the courage to talk to Josephine!"
"You're afraid of Stuart's negative news getting out, aren't you?" Doris glared at Josephine. "If you're scared, come out and talk to me!"
Josephine patted her chest. "Oh, I'm so scared!"
Doris snorted. "That's right."
Josephine continued, "I'm afraid your scoop won't be juicy enough, not negative enough. So, go ahead, try to ruin Stuart's reputation overnight. You can do it!"
Watching Josephine cheer her on with a fist pump, Doris felt the world was a bit unreal.
As a woman, she could sense that Josephine had feelings for Stuart.
If Stuart divorced her, she would surely be devastated.
Unexpectedly, Josephine showed no signs of despair; instead, she was radiant and full of energy.
Doris gritted her teeth and said, "Stop pretending you don't care. You love him, I know."
Josephine's eyes turned cold. "Did Stuart tell you that?"
"He told me a lot!" Doris said with a hint of pride. "If you want to know, come out and talk to me!"
Laura glanced behind Doris. "Judging by her attitude, Stuart isn't coming today."
Before she could finish, the restaurant door opened, and a tall figure appeared.
Doris, unaware Stuart was coming, continued, "I know everything about you two! Stuart has wanted to divorce you for a long time."
Laura smiled. "Don't you know Stuart wants to remarry Josephine?"
Seeing Stuart's expression last time, Doris knew he cared deeply for Josephine. Driven mad by jealousy, she said, "What are you so smug about? He doesn't even like Josephine! He likes someone else."
"Shut up!" Stuart's cold voice sent chills down everyone's spine.
Doris turned around, eyes wide. "You, why are you here?"
Stuart looked at her expressionlessly, his gaze fierce. "You like talking so much. I'll have my lawyer talk to you. Now, get out of my sight!"
Doris bit her lip, saw the onlookers' faces, and ran out crying.
Stuart then looked at Josephine. "Don't believe a word she said."
Josephine's face darkened when she saw Stuart. She lowered her eyes, hiding her emotions.
Stuart felt anxious, wanting to say more, but with so many people around, he couldn't bring himself to apologize. He reached out to pull Josephine. "Come with me."
Josephine shook him off and picked up a glass of water, splashing it directly in his face.
Stuart was always impeccably dressed in a suit and tie. His shirt was buttoned up to the top, and his tie was perfectly knotted. Handsome and long in a high position, he exuded an aura of nobility and disdain.
But now, he had water-soaked hair, a few strands sticking to his forehead, and a decorative lemon slice stuck to his head. He looked particularly disheveled.
The surroundings fell silent. Even those who didn't know Stuart could tell he was someone important. No one expected Josephine to splash him suddenly. Liam and the others were surprised but pleased.
Others, seeing Stuart's cold and dark aura, worried he might slap Josephine.
Josephine, after splashing him, said coldly, "I'll say this one last time. Stuart, don't ever show up in front of me again. Get out!"
Stuart closed his eyes, then quickly opened them, wiping his face and calming his demeanor. If it were anyone else, he would have kicked them away. But this was Josephine.
So what if she splashed him with water? Josephine had slapped him before more than once.
Even thinking this, he took a deep breath and said, "Josephine, you've got some nerve."
