Chapter 491 Doing Prenatal Education
Hearing that, Josephine couldn't stop laughing.
She said, "That's just like Jair. You know, when Claudia had morning sickness, Jair said that if they had a son, he would definitely spank him!"
Laura said, "Exactly. But when I asked Steven what he would do if we had a daughter, he said he wouldn't spank her. Can you believe how double-standard he is?"
"You can't trust what they say," Josephine said. "Jeffery is a boy, and Stuart never spanked him."
"That's different," Laura said. "What right does he have to spank Jeffery? You raised Jeffery all by yourself. All he did was contribute a sperm back then..."
Josephine covered her mouth. "Alright, don't let others hear you."
"So what if they hear?" Laura pulled her hand away. "I'm just telling the truth."
"This has always been a sore spot for Stuart," Josephine said. "Back then, I got pregnant and didn't tell him. He didn't even know he was going to be a father. If he had seen Jeffery being born, I believe he would have been a good father."
"That was his fault back then, and now you're blaming yourself? I think he's really got you wrapped around his finger."
"What else can I do?" Josephine said. "I can't help being so useless."
Laura said, "It's not that. It's just that Stuart is so charming and now so devoted and affectionate. No wonder you fell for him."
Josephine smiled but said nothing.
The relationship between her and Stuart, from the beginning until now, couldn't be judged simply by who was right or wrong.
No matter how the process was, the result now was good.
And that was enough.
The happiest thing for a person in this world was to follow their heart.
Being with Stuart now, Josephine felt very content.
Rejecting Stuart before, she wasn't happy herself.
Although there were regrets in the past, shouldn't life always look forward?
Let the past be the past.
When it came to the topic of children, it seemed like they could talk for days and nights.
Claudia and Laura's babies hadn't been born yet, but when they talked about it, they were already unstoppable.
On the way back, Josephine said to Stuart, "Jair and Steven both want sons so they can spank them when they're born."
Stuart said, "Of course, who would want to spank a daughter?"
Josephine said, "If you say that, I don't even want to have a baby."
"Why?"
"I'm afraid you'll spoil the child."
"I won't," Stuart said. "I'll just spoil the child normally, not excessively."
"That's more like it."
What reassured Josephine was that Claudia was now doing fine, and her regular check-ups were all good.
Laura's symptoms had almost disappeared too. Except for occasionally feeling unwell in the morning, she no longer had trouble eating or sleeping.
Stuart held her hand. "So, should we speed up the process too?"
Knowing what he meant, Josephine laughed. "How can you speed up this kind of thing? It should happen naturally."
"We haven't been using contraception for a while, and you haven't gotten pregnant yet. It must be because I'm not trying hard enough."
Josephine pushed him. "Let me educate you. For a normal couple, if they don't use contraception and don't get pregnant within two years, then there might be a problem. How long has it been for us? Not even six months."
"Six months is long enough," Stuart sighed. "Could it be that I have a problem?"
Josephine couldn't help but laugh. "What problem could you have? If there's any problem, it's that you have too much energy."
"Having too much energy is a problem?"
"According to the principles of optimal childbearing, your kind of energy is abnormal."
Stuart laughed. "I'm abnormal? Then tell me, what is normal?"
Josephine said, "Can you follow what I say?"
"No."
Josephine rolled her eyes at him and didn't want to talk to him anymore.
Stuart hugged her. "Forget it, let's just let it happen naturally. I have a feeling this child will come."
Josephine didn't quite agree.
But now both of them were pretty relaxed about it.
If they got pregnant, great. If not, there was nothing they could do.
They weren't forcing it.
By the end of January, it was already December.
The weather was getting colder, sometimes dropping to the teens in Fahrenheit.
Claudia's due date was in June, and Laura's was in August.
Claudia was already showing a lot, but she hadn't gained much weight in the past couple of months, which she was very pleased with.
But Jair was always worried, saying she was too thin and needed to eat more.
Laura had finally gained some weight, but Steven was still not satisfied.
But he didn't dare say anything.
After all, he knew how much Laura cared about her figure.
If having a baby made her gain twenty pounds, she would go crazy.
So now, Laura's belly was slightly protruding, but her waist was still slim.
Seeing Steven being so accommodating and not daring to say anything, Josephine had to educate her herself. "If you don't eat more, the baby will be malnourished."
Laura felt wronged. "I'm not eating less. I eat until I'm full every time!"
"Really?"
"Of course!" Laura was a bit angry. "I'm already pregnant, I've prepared for everything, and I wouldn't joke about the baby's health."
Josephine observed a few times later and found that Laura's appetite was indeed about the same as before.
Some pregnant women didn't have exaggerated appetites.
Most of the time, it was the pregnant women forcing themselves to eat more, fearing the baby wouldn't get enough nutrition.
But in this day and age, cases of overnutrition in babies were much more common.
Where would there be malnutrition?
On December 7th, the day before, a few of them gathered together.
The three men were busy in the kitchen, while the women sat in the living room chatting.
Laura sat on the carpet, leaning on the sofa, and looked at Josephine. "There's something I've been thinking about, and I should tell you."
Josephine was curious. "What is it?"
"Do you know how Angela is doing?"
Josephine said, "She probably isn't doing well."
Laura said, "Not just not well. The Lopez Family's business has been failing for a long time. Recently, I heard they all moved back to their hometown in the countryside. As for Angela..."
"What about her?" Claudia asked. "Why are you hesitating?"
"She's in jail."
Claudia was shocked. "In jail?"
"Surprised, right?" Laura said. "Not only is she in jail, but her life in there is also miserable."
Josephine said, "I know."
"You knew?" Laura smiled. "Now that I think about it, Stuart did this to support you."
Claudia said, "She deserves it. Bad people should get bad karma!"
Josephine said, "Let's not talk about her. Why bring her up on such a happy day?"
"Talking about her misery makes us happy," Laura said. "It's good for the baby's prenatal education."
Josephine gave her a light slap. "You're so improper."
