Chapter 468 I'm Going to Be a Dad

As a result, something went wrong before the wedding.

That day, the six of them were having dinner together.

The wedding was set to be held at Celestia Springs, so Jair and the others basically hadn't returned to Hustalia.

The six of them often gathered to discuss the wedding.

That day, they were having dinner together when the waiter knocked on the door and brought in a plate of fish.

Claudia usually loved fish, so Laura directly moved the fish in front of her.

They were all friends, so no one cared about etiquette.

Jair was talking to Steven, but it didn't stop him from picking up a fork and selecting the tenderest piece of fish for Claudia.

He placed it on the plate in front of Claudia.

Claudia was almost full; she never ate much. And for some reason, when the fish was brought in, she suddenly didn't feel like eating it.

But Laura had specially moved the fish in front of her, and Jair had picked some for her. Even if it was just a bite, she had to try it.

However, as soon as she picked up the fork and brought the fish to her mouth, a strong aroma of sauce hit her nose.

Claudia suddenly felt a wave of nausea in her stomach.

She instinctively covered her mouth with her hand. The nausea persisted, and she put down the fork and ran to the restroom.

The remaining five people looked at each other in confusion.

Jair reacted the fastest and immediately got up to follow her.

After a few seconds of silence, Laura said, "Could Claudia be pregnant?"

Stuart and Steven both exclaimed.

Especially Steven, who showed a clear look of envy.

He looked at Laura.

Laura said, "Why are you looking at me? I won't throw up."

Steven lowered his head and typed a few words on his phone.

Laura's phone rang, and she looked down.

Steven: [Maybe I'm not trying hard enough.]

Laura didn't even want to respond to him!

Josephine said, "It might not be that; it could just be a stomach issue."

After a while, Jair and Claudia returned.

Jair said, "Claudia's stomach is upset. I'll take her to the hospital."

Josephine said, "Go ahead, I'll come too."

Claudia said, "Why are you coming? You guys continue eating. I said I didn't want to go, but he insisted."

"Go get checked." Josephine looked at her. "We all suspect you might be pregnant."

Claudia was stunned. She hadn't even considered that possibility.

Jair was overjoyed, "Pregnant?"

Since their last conversation about it, they hadn't used any protection. Maybe she really was pregnant. But then he quickly realized something.

"Wait," Jair said, "she's on her period right now."

Claudia was also confused. "Yeah, it started yesterday."

Josephine said, "You should still go to the hospital. Early pregnancy can also cause bleeding, and many people mistake it for their period."

Jair immediately got nervous. "Then let's go to the hospital!"

All six of them went. But when they got to the hospital, Josephine told Stuart and Steven to wait in the car. The rest of them went inside.

They explained the situation to the doctor, who immediately ordered some tests.

While Claudia was getting checked, Jair was pacing outside, looking anxious.

Laura told him, "Stop pacing, you're making me dizzy!"

Jair stopped and rubbed his temples.

Josephine tried to distract him by asking, "Has Claudia been acting differently lately?"

Jair said, "No, she's been eating and sleeping... Speaking of sleeping, she seems to be sleeping more. Last night, she fell asleep while I was on a phone call."

Laura clapped her hands and said, "Then she's probably pregnant! That's how it always is on TV!"

She then turned to Josephine, "Josephine, you have experience. Is that how it is?"

Josephine said, "Everyone's different. But I did sleep a lot when I was pregnant."

"Then that's it!" Laura said. "Congratulations! You're going to be a dad!"

Josephine quickly said, "Don't get ahead of yourself. Wait for the results." She was mainly worried that Jair would be disappointed.

Claudia being pregnant would be great, but if she wasn't, it would be a letdown.

Laura realized this too and said, "Even if she's not, there's no rush. You two haven't been together that long. Steven and I have been together much longer and still haven't had a baby."

Down in the parking lot, Steven suddenly sneezed.

Stuart moved away from him. "Your health isn't great, huh."

Steven said, "Nonsense! I'm perfectly healthy, just had an itchy nose."

Laura continued, "So, if Claudia isn't pregnant, don't worry."

Jair nodded, his eyes fixed on the examination room door.

Laura linked arms with Josephine and asked, "Do all men want kids this much?"

Josephine said, "I don't know about others, but Steven probably does."

"Don't bring me into this," Laura said. "It's easy for them; they just want it, but they don't have to give birth."

Josephine said, "Pregnancy isn't as scary as you think. Plus, the younger you are, the quicker you recover after having a baby. If you wait until you're forty, it won't be as easy, and you might end up gaining weight."

Laura said, "Then I just won't have kids."

Josephine patted her. "Don't say that, you'll make Steven sad."

"It would be great if men could have babies," Laura sighed. "I'm afraid of the pain, the hassle, and I've heard pregnancy can make you ugly, swollen, and crampy..."

Before she could finish, the examination room door opened. Jair immediately went up to Claudia.

Josephine and Laura followed.

"Claudia," Jair supported her, "how did it go? Is everything okay?"

Claudia was holding a report.

Laura took it and handed it to Josephine, "You take a look."

Josephine glanced at it and smiled, "Congratulations, you're going to be parents!"

"Really?" Laura was also excited, looking at the report. "Six weeks? That's over forty days!"

Claudia nodded. "Yes, the ultrasound doctor said I should get some medication to support the pregnancy."

"Really... really pregnant?" Jair was so excited he could barely speak. "Why do you need medication?"

"It's okay," Josephine said. "Sometimes early pregnancy can cause bleeding due to hormone levels. Medication can help."

Jair carefully helped her to see the doctor. Sure enough, the doctor said the same thing and prescribed some medication.

When they came back down, Stuart and Steven were looking at them.

Seeing their happy faces, Steven said, "Is she really pregnant?"

Stuart glanced at him and commented, "You need to step up your game."

Steven said, "Thanks, like I don't want to?"

As they approached, Jair announced with a smile, "I'm going to be a dad!"
