Chapter 102 Taurus
Zoe understood the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City because her second husband worked in that field.
Her husband had mentioned that the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City would undergo major changes in the near future.
Garrett's reign was over, he had been replaced by Max.
Max, one could say, was a prominent figure who was making waves in the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City.
He had taken over one-third of the project in the impoverished district and incorporated Garrett's workers, continuously expanding his influence.
It was rumored that Max had a powerful backer behind him, otherwise he wouldn't have risen so quickly!
In any case, Max now stood at the pinnacle of the real estate industry, commanding respect without needing to please anyone.
So why had he come here with a gift?
Could it be that he wanted to win over Noah or Lisa?
At this moment, Max swaggered into the room, not paying any attention to the people present.
He had earned the right to do so.
But when his gaze fell upon Noah, his expression immediately became respectful as he bowed his head and said, "I heard you moved into a new house, so I came specially to bring a gift!"
He was accompanied by two subordinates.
The two of them carried an object covered in red silk, giving it an air of secrecy.
"Noah, Lisa, hope you will accept this humble gift of mine!"
During this formal occasion, Max called Noah by his name, omitting any formalities.
Max waved his hand, and the two subordinates uncovered the red silk!
The silk rustled.
“What is this...?"
Everyone’s pupils contracted as they inhaled sharply when they saw the object inside.
It was a golden bull!
The golden bull was about half a meter in length and thirty centimeters in height. It was made entirely of gold and shimmered with a dazzling light under the lamplight, reflecting a mesmerizing glow.
"Is that golden bull gilded?"
Sarah licked her lips, her eyes flashing with greed.
"Gilded?"
Max furrowed his brows when he heard that and glared at Sarah.
"You little brat, don't speak nonsense! This golden bull of mine is made of pure gold! Would I give Noah a gilded gift? You must really underestimate me!"
Sarah was scared into silence.
"I may not be highly educated and don't know how to give gifts like art, antiques, or jade pendants, but my gifts are always gold! This will holds it value and show my respect!"
Max chuckled. "This little golden bull weighs fifty pounds. Wouldn't it be prestigious if you put it in the middle of the living room for guests to see?"
"Fifty pounds!"
"How much is that?"
"Let me see..."
Everyone stared at the golden bull, their eyes shining as they calculated its price in their hearts.
Zoe took out her phone and opened the calculator to figure it out.
"Now, the price of gold is roughly 300 dollar per gram. One kilogram is 300,000. Fifty pounds is equivalent to 25 kilograms, multiplied by 300,000 is..."
Crash!
Zoe dropped her phone in shock when she saw the number, her mouth agape.
"The golden bull... is worth around $7.5 million!"
"$7.5 million!"
"That's so expensive!"
$7.5 million was an astronomical figure for Jake, Mike, and their relatives in the village.
"Why? Why did Max give such a valuable gift to Noah?"
"Noah is a useless person, what makes him deserving of Max's treatment?"
Larry looked at Noah with confusion, shock, and disbelief in his eyes.
Lisa was also curious as she looked at Noah.
Lisa knew that since Max was the developer who had recently taken over one-third of the projects in the poverty-stricken area, must have had a powerful background. Otherwise, the higher-ups wouldn't have entrusted such an important project to him.
But why would Max come to give them a housewarming gift? Lisa had never told Max about it, so how had he found out?
And even if he wanted to give a gift, it didn't have to be such an expensive one!
A golden bull made of pure gold!
That was way too extravagant!
At this moment, Larry shifted his gaze toward Lisa.
He suddenly thought of something.
Max wasn’t here to give Noah a gift. He was here to give it to Lisa!
The reason was easy to guess.
Lisa was in charge of the entire poverty-stricken area. It was a project worth billions.
Max, on the other hand, was in charge of one-third of the project. Of course he had to please Lisa.
Once this project was successfully completed, Max would earn much more than just $7.5 million from it!
As for Max's remark that the golden bull was meant for "Noah," it was normal.
Men should take care of external affairs, while women should focus on internal affairs.
Max had said it was for Noah to show his respect and maintain good social etiquette.
A golden bull was not something a woman would use, so it would be too rough to emphasize that it was for Lisa. It would make Max look like a nouveau riche.
"Hmph, Noah is just trying to ride on Lisa's coattails!"
Larry snorted lightly.
Daniel, Zoe, and others also looked at Lisa and had the same thought.
"Put the golden bull down and find a seat so you can eat," Noah said casually.
"Sure thing, Noah!"
Max grinned and found a seat.
"Why is Noah pretending to take credit? The golden bull is actually for Lisa and has nothing to do with that useless Noah!" Sarah rolled her eyes.
"Without Lisa, Noah could never shine like this? He's fundamentally a useless person!"
"I suspect that Lisa's company gave her this villa!"
"Max was giving the golden bull to Lisa!"
The crowd whispered among themselves, their gazes toward Noah filled with disdain.
"Noah, someone else has arrived!" Ethan suddenly exclaimed.
"Is it another gift delivery?" The crowd was taken aback.
"It's probably another developer!" Sarah rolled her eyes. "As soon as they hear a rumor, they come crawling over to please Lisa, the head manager."
"Definitely!" Zoe nodded. "After all, my daughter is the head manager. When she moves, those developers under her would rush to bring gifts."
"Noah is just a useless person who’s riding on my daughter's position to gain popularity," Daniel added.
" I have a feeling that Max is the highest-ranked developer. Anyone else who’s coming to give a gift will be just mediocre," Zoe remarked.
"Exactly!"
The discussions continued.
"Haha, I guess I’m late to your housewarming!" Laughter resounded as a middle-aged man leisurely entered.
The man was dressed in gray suit and had a square face, and a moustache. He emitted an ominous aura, and in his hands were two iron stones that made creaking sounds.
"Who is he?" Daniel and the others looked at the middle-aged man with suspicion.
They did not recognize him at all and had never heard of him before.
"He's just a small developer who’s coming here to please Lisa," Sarah explained.
"Ah, since my daughter’s the head manager, it has resulted in all kinds of mediocre people coming to suck up to her!" Daniel sighed lightly.
"It's because my daughter is capable. The company even gave her a villa to live in, and so many people came to give her gifts!" Zoe felt proud, thinking that the relatives would be impressed.
Since Max had come to give a gift, one thing was certain – they weren’t renting the villa. The company must have assigned it to Lisa.
"Noah is just a useless person who’s just riding on Lisa's coattails! He even lied to us, saying that he bought a house." Zoe shook her head and then turned her attention to the middle-aged man.
"This Mason is probably just a small developer. He's nothing compared to Max. We should chase him away to prevent embarrassment."
