Chapter 318 Clementine

Daisy's eyes sparkled with curiosity.

She might not be the most talkative, but she was sharp enough to figure out that Noah was heading to Silverlight City to get back at that assassin.

"I'll go with you!" Bodhi said after a moment of thought. "I got some unfinished business in Silverlight City too, so it's a good chance to handle it."

Noah glanced at Bodhi, not asking what the business was. He was already pleased that Bodhi agreed so decisively. Noah had his own reasons for wanting Bodhi to come along.

"Bodhi, Noah, I wanna go too!" Daisy chimed in eagerly. "Silverlight City is full of historical sites! I've always wanted to visit."

"Daisy, we're going there for serious business, not a vacation!" Bodhi shot her a stern look. "So, you can't come."

Daisy's face fell. "But I really want to go."

"Bodhi's leaving, and someone needs to manage the bar. I think it's best if you stay here," Noah said with a gentle smile. The trip to Silverlight City was bound to be dangerous, and bringing Daisy along could lead to unforeseen complications.

"Alright, I won't go then," Daisy said, even more disappointed. She knew the bar needed her if Bodhi was away.

"We'll leave at eight tomorrow morning. I'll come pick you up," Noah said to Bodhi.

"Got it." Bodhi nodded.

The next morning, at 7:30 AM, at Summit Retreat Oasis.

"Lisa, are you really going to Silverlight City?" Lisa stood at the villa's entrance, looking reluctant. She didn't know why Noah was going, but she understood it must be important.

"Yeah." Noah nodded, placing a bag in the car's trunk. It contained clothes and his medication. His abdominal wound hadn't fully healed, so he needed antibiotics and other medicines to prevent infection and speed up recovery.

"Lisa, if you run into any trouble while I'm gone, contact Ethan. If he can't help, then call me," Noah said, giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead.

Lisa nodded obediently. "By the way, Noah, Evelyn quit our company and went to Silverlight City a while ago. She knows the area well. If you need help, you can reach out to her."

"Got it," Noah smiled, not taking the advice too seriously. After a bit more conversation, he reluctantly said goodbye to Lisa.

Leaving Summit Retreat Oasis, Noah drove to the bar to pick up Bodhi.

At 9 AM, a GMC vehicle slowly entered the Oceanbridge City highway toll station and then merged onto the highway.

"It's cloudy today, looks like it might rain," Noah said from the passenger seat, looking out the window. The sky was overcast, with thick clouds gathering, making the air feel heavy and humid.

In front of Noah was a stack of documents. Timothy had compiled information about the Evergreen Market chain stores, including locations and sizes.

Besides dealing with the Murphy and Harris families, Noah also planned to open Evergreen Market branches throughout Silverlight City and the entire Imperial State. He had only a year to expand the chain, so it was crucial to get started quickly.

Bodhi, who was driving, glanced outside and smiled. "Yeah, the weather's all over the place this time of year. I checked the forecast; it's supposed to rain pretty hard."

Noah nodded and fell silent. Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Xavier.

"Mr. Anderson, I have some news for you," Xavier said respectfully.

"What is it?" Noah asked.

"Your logistics partnership with the Winchester family has been approved. The family elders are pleased, especially the head and Mrs. Anderson. They have more confidence in your abilities now," Xavier said. "Mrs. Anderson asked me to tell you that she plans to visit you in Eagleland soon."

"My mom wants to visit me?" Noah was taken aback, his breath quickening.

"Yes, but the timing is uncertain," Xavier replied.

"Okay, I understand," Noah said, not getting his hopes up. His parents had always been busy, rarely having time for him. Promises to visit often went unfulfilled, so he knew better than to expect too much.

After hanging up, Noah closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep while Bodhi continued driving.

Noah woke up after some time. "How much longer until we get there?" he asked, yawning and rubbing his forehead.

"About two more hours," Bodhi said, a cigarette dangling from his lips. "There's a rest area up ahead. Should we stop for a break?"

"Sure," Noah agreed. He wasn't tired, but Bodhi had been driving for a while, and the gloomy weather made visibility poor. A break was a good idea.

Five minutes later, they pulled into the rest area and got out of the car.

The rest area was bustling with people. Noah noticed the large sign and the various vendors selling snacks, steam rising from their stalls, and the sounds of people calling out their wares. The highway was busy, so the rest area was crowded, with private cars and long-distance buses filling the parking lot.

The sound of an engine drew Noah's attention. A Mercedes-Benz V260 van pulled up next to their car. The door opened, and a young woman stepped out, holding her skirt.

She looked to be in her early twenties, petite, wearing a white dress that reached the ground, giving her an air of elegance and innocence. She had a beautiful oval face, delicate lips, and large, expressive eyes, with a small mole adorning her forehead. She looked like like she had stepped out of a painting.

Behind her were two men in sunglasses, likely bodyguards, and a middle-aged woman in her forties or fifties, wearing glasses and looking a bit plump.

The young woman immediately drew the attention of many onlookers, especially the men, who stared at her with admiration.

"She's gorgeous!"

"Like an angel!"

"She looks familiar. Isn't she the influencer Clementine Bennett?"

"It really is Clementine!"

"Can't believe we ran into her here!"

People eagerly took out their phones to snap pictures.

Noah wasn't interested in influencers. He and Bodhi headed straight into the rest area.

After taking care of business, they exited the restroom.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning split the sky.
