Chapter 314 Noah's Aftermath
"Noah's my husband! Can't I just see him for a minute?" Lisa's face was streaked with tears, her voice choked with emotion.
"For Noah's safety, no." Ethan shook his head firmly.
"Safety, my foot. Acting like Noah's some big shot when he's just a loser," Sarah scoffed from her seat.
When Sarah heard Noah was injured and in critical condition, she rushed over, hoping he'd die in the hospital. But hearing Ethan's words, it seemed Noah had pulled through, and Sarah was instantly displeased.
"Such serious injuries, was it a car accident? He's bleeding out!" Sarah continued, "Noah probably ran a red light and got hit by a car. Serves him right! Why didn't he just die on the street?"
"Sarah, Noah's in this condition, can't you stop talking nonsense? If you can't stand Noah, you didn't have to come to the hospital!" Lisa's face turned cold, her body trembling with anger. "Why are you here gloating?"
Sarah rolled her eyes. "We're family, after all. If I didn't come, people would gossip and say we lack compassion."
Sarah and Larry had moved out after selling their house at Summit Retreat Oasis. She had been stewing in anger these past few days. Now that Noah was injured and hospitalized, she had to come and gloat.
"You—" Lisa gritted her teeth in fury.
"I just hope Noah dies in there. Lisa, you don't know, but while you've been at the hospital, Larry and Dad have been drinking and celebrating at home every day, hoping Noah dies soon! They've even started planning Noah's funeral," Sarah laughed. "It'd be good if Noah died, Lisa. You could remarry sooner. Though, being a second wife, who knows if anyone would want you!"
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a sudden rush of wind. Ethan strode over to Sarah, grabbed her hair, and slammed her head against the hospital wall.
A wave of pain hit Sarah, making her head feel dizzy and unbearably sore. "It hurts! Why did you hit me?" Sarah glared at Ethan. "I was talking about Noah, not you! Why did you hit me?"
Blood trickled down Sarah's forehead. Ethan had used a lot of force.
"Don't you dare insult Noah!" Ethan's eyes were bloodshot, staring at Sarah with a cold, murderous look. "One more word, and I'll kill you!"
Sarah's pupils shrank, her body trembling in fear under Ethan's terrifying gaze. She had no doubt that if she said anything more about Noah, this man would kill her.
"Do you hear me?" Ethan demanded coldly.
"I... I hear you. I won't say anything," Sarah stammered, her teeth chattering, sweat pouring down her back.
Suddenly, a cough came from the hospital room.
"Noah!" Ethan's eyes lit up, and he quickly walked towards the room.
"Noah, you're awake!" Seeing Noah open his eyes, Ethan rushed forward, asking worriedly, "How do you feel now?"
"Noah!" Lisa ran in, her face still wet with tears. Seeing Lisa, Ethan immediately stood up and blocked her path, his expression serious.
"Ethan, Lisa's my wife. It's okay," Noah said with a helpless smile.
"Sorry, I was too sensitive," Ethan said sheepishly, stepping aside.
"Noah, how do you feel now?" Lisa asked, holding Noah's hand.
"I'm okay, just my stomach still hurts a bit," Noah smiled. With Lisa by his side, Noah felt a warmth in his heart.
Meanwhile, at Noah's villa in Oceanbridge City, Summit Retreat Oasis, Larry and Daniel sat across from each other in the living room. On the table were a bottle of red wine, steak, grilled fish, and ribs.
Both men had drunk quite a bit, their cheeks flushed.
"Dad, let's have another drink!" Larry poured Daniel a glass of wine.
Daniel didn't hesitate, downing the glass and taking a bite of food, smiling broadly. "Noah's hospitalization and critical condition notice is good news. I should drink more to celebrate!"
"Yes, it's definitely good news!" Larry agreed, feeling elated. "The notice said Noah was bleeding out and in critical condition. I bet it was a car accident."
"We shouldn't discuss that. What we should discuss is what happens to this family if Noah dies," Daniel said seriously.
"I've already thought about that," Larry chuckled. "Whether Noah lives or dies, Dad, you'll always be in charge of this family. If Noah dies, I think Lisa's villa is pretty big with lots of rooms. Dad, how about Sarah and I move in?"
"Since selling the Summit Retreat Oasis house, we've been renting, and the environment and facilities are terrible compared to Summit Retreat Oasis. It's like night and day!"
"Larry, don't worry!" Daniel smiled. "You're my most dutiful son-in-law. If Noah dies, you can move in! And I'll find Lisa a new husband. We'll pretend Noah never existed!"
"Great! Dad, with your word, I'm relieved!" Larry's eyes lit up.
"Even though Noah was a loser, he was still part of the Wilson family. After he dies, we'll give him a grand funeral, pick a good cemetery, and invite all the relatives," Daniel said. "A well-done funeral will give the Wilson family face in front of the relatives."
"Exactly!" Larry nodded. "When Noah dies, the relatives will come to pay their respects, and we can collect donations. That'll be Noah's contribution to our family!"
"Excuse me, is this Noah's home?" Suddenly, a voice with a hint of a smile came from behind them.
A middle-aged man wearing glasses had walked in unnoticed. He wore a white shirt with a mandarin collar, his hands clasped in front of him, giving off a refined and approachable vibe. Behind him stood two tall, burly men, expressionless like mountains.
"This is Noah's home, but soon it'll be mine," Daniel grinned at the man. "What do you want with Noah?"
"And who might you be?" The middle-aged man looked at Daniel and Larry.
"Daniel."
"Larry."
They introduced themselves.
"So, Noah's father-in-law and brother-in-law," the man smiled. "I'm Zaid, from the Harris family in the eastern Eagleland."
