Chapter 89 The Prince Charming
Noah glanced at Max and said, "I heard you work in the real estate industry."
"Yes," Max nodded.
"In that case, you should know about Garrett's death," Noah said nonchalantly.
Max's eyes flickered as if he remembered something. He decided to be honest and said, "Yes, I know about that. After Garrett's death, the market he controlled immediately became vacant. Many developers, especially those interested in one-third of the project in the impoverished area, became eager to fill the gap.
"Another real estate tycoon in Oceanbridge City, Charles, invited me to work with him to take over that one-third of the project. I agreed on the condition that Joshua bring his girlfriend, Evelyn, to my bed," Max explained.
Noah looked at Max, realizing that he had misunderstood the question. He thought Max was explaining the reason why he had gotten Evelyn into bed.
Noah had no interest in what Max did to Evelyn. If it weren't for his wife, Lisa, he wouldn't have come here at all.
However, since he was already here, a thought suddenly crossed Noah's mind.
"I killed Garrett," Noah said calmly, tapping his fingernails.
Boom!
These words were like thunder, shaking Max to his core.
"You killed Garrett?" Max's voice trembled.
"Yes," Noah nodded. "I tied a big rock to him and threw him into the river."
Boom!
Max staggered and almost lost his balance.
Who was Garrett?
He was a big shot, the true leader of the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City.
His life was legendary. He had started as a dock laborer and eventually founded Splendid Real Estate Company, occupying half of the real estate market in Oceanbridge City and reaching the pinnacle of success.
Even Max, an expert in the real estate industry, had to look up to him.
And yet, this young man in front of him claimed to have killed him?
In that moment, Max felt a sense of absurdity.
Wait a minute!
Max's eyelid twitched, suddenly feeling a great danger approaching.
Why did Noah tell him that he killed Garrett?
That was a secret matter. Would a murderer go around proclaiming their actions?
Max's heart raced and his scalp tingled. He forced a smile and said, "Noah, what did you just say? I didn't hear anything!"
"I said it. Are you saying you didn't hear it?" Noah grinned, revealing his white teeth.
Max's pupils contracted at that smile. He quickly raised his voice and said, "Noah, I know you're not an ordinary person. Please spare me!" Noah telling him this secret would naturally bring him trouble that could cost him his life!
He might kill him to silence him, to prevent anything from getting out!
The safest way to keep a secret was to make sure everyone kept their mouths shut.
"You have two choices." Noah didn't waste any time.
"One, join me and you can replace Garrett."
"Two, just like Garrett, I'll throw you in the river to feed the fishes."
Max was stunned and confused. Was Noah trying to recruit him?
"But Noah, Garrett is a real estate tycoon, with a hold on half of Oceanbridge City's real estate. After his death, many people will be coveting his position. It's not as simple as you saying that I can do it!" Max looked skeptical.
"What do you mean? Are you saying you’re not going to join me? Do you want to feed the fished in the river?" Noah replied.
"No, no, no!" Max quickly waved his hands. "I'm not an idiot. I'm afraid of death, so of course I choose the first option. I just have some doubts about your abilities."
"Since you chose the first option, that's fine. It's getting late, and my wife is waiting for me. I'm going home."
Noah glanced at the time and walked toward the door, his voice fading as it reached Max's ears.
"Tomorrow morning, go to Noah Capital and ask for Samuel. Mention my name. One-third of the project in the slums Garrett left behind will be yours."
"Huh?" Max stood frozen in place, finding it hard to believe.
That one-third project would be his at just one sentence from Noah?
He was too arrogant!
You see, in order to obtain one-third of that project, Max had not only partnered with Joshua, but also conspired with several other real estate giants. But even then, he wasn't sure if they would secure that one-third project.
That one-third project would become solely Max's at just one sentence from Noah?
"Forget it, desperate times call for desperate measures. I'll go to Noah Capital tomorrow and find out what’s going on!"
Max was doubtful, but in the end, he gritted his teeth and made a decision.
...
"Take care, sir!" The security guard saluted and smiled as Noah's car left the residential area.
Ten minutes later, Noah arrived home.
"Honey!" Lisa immediately came up to him in worry and asked, "Are you okay?"
"What could happen to me?" Noah smiled.
"That's good. You've been gone for so long, I was worried sick!" Lisa let out a sigh of relief before asking, "By the way, how is Evelyn?"
"She's fine too. Darling, you can sleep peacefully now," Noah responded.
"That's good."
Ring ring!
At that moment, Lisa's phone rang.
Evelyn was relieved to hear Noah's voice on the other end of the line. Lisa, filled with excitement, picked up the phone and asked, "Hey Evelyn, are you safe?"
"Yes, I'm safe and sound. I made it home without any harm, and I haven't lost myself. And guess what, Lisa? I may have met the owner of the Rolls-Royce! Not only that, he saved me from Max's clutches!" Evelyn's voice was filled with excitement.
