Chapter 150 Family Business
The next morning, Noah was lying on the balcony in a comfortable chair, basking in the warm sun, when his phone suddenly rang.
"Hello, Noah," said a slightly old voice from the other end of the line.
"Xavier, is there something you need?" Noah asked. The call was from Xavier.
"Yesterday, the family head instructed me to tell you that there will be some restrictions on your contact with the family for a while. You're not young anymore, and it's time for you to start preparing to take over the family business," Xavier said.
Noah shook his head helplessly. "Xavier, you know my personality. I just enjoy living a simple and ordinary life, basking in the sun every day. I'm not very interested in family affairs."
"Oh, Noah, I know your personality," Xavier sighed lightly. "But Noah, you need to understand that since you were born into the Lin family, you were destined to be an elite for the rest of your life. You are Noah Anderson, and you are bound to take control of the Lin family in the future. How can you keep living this leisurely life?"
"My father said that to you, and you’re repeating it to me." Noah rolled his eyes.
"Since you’ve found out about it, the family head also said that the more wealth you have, the greater your responsibility. This is something you can't avoid, Noah. Your life is destined to be extraordinary. A simple life is for ordinary people, not for you," Xavier said. "And your future will undoubtedly have an impact on the whole world."
"Alright, alright, enough said," Noah's ears were starting to go numb. "Just tell me, what's the matter?"
"You're still young now. The family head wants me to arrange some business for you in Oceanbridge City so that you can have some hands-on experience. After one or two years, once you’ve mastered all the details of the business, you can truly start taking over the family affairs," Xavier said.
Noah breathed a sigh of relief. If that was the case, he still had at least a year or two of a peaceful life.
"Do I have to handle those businesses myself?" Noah asked.
"Of course not. The family will send people to handle the specific matters. What you need to do is to oversee the overall situation. After all, you’re definitely a future leader, and you need to learn the vision, capability, courage, and determination that a leader should have- in short, a lot."
Xavier continued, "Currently, the family has already started acquiring and investing in various industries such as healthcare, catering, education, and transportation in Oceanbridge City. When the time comes, you will be responsible for all of them."
"So many industries!" Noah’s eyes widened. "Xavier, can I handle all those businesses?"
"Don't worry, I will assist you," Xavier said with a smile.
"Of course, if you care about any hospitals, schools, or road projects, we can acquire them for you to practice on," Xavier offered.
"These are already sufficient, there’s no need for further acquisitions." Noah shook his head, feeling that the old man was just showing off to him.
"Alright then, Noah, it's all up to you. Anything that can be solved with money is not a problem," Xavier chuckled.
"By the way, we just acquired a restaurant in Oceanbridge City called the Majestic Suite yesterday. The owner of the Majestic Suite is insisting on cooking for you and has even prepared a super VIP card for you," Xavier continued.
"I’m not interested." Noah shook his head.
"Alright, I'll let him know that you're not interested in his food," Xavier said.
"Also, we just reached an agreement with Oceanbridge City and have provided funding for impoverished families in the slums to send their children to elementary school. We are also planning to build a school in the slums. The person in charge of education deeply understands your boundless love and would like to meet you in person to express their gratitude for your kind gesture," Xavier informed him.
"Handle the meeting for me, tell them I'm too busy to meet them," Noah said.
"Alright, Noah," Xavier nodded and added, "In addition, we are setting up small medical clinics in various neighborhoods of Oceanbridge City to address the issues of residents having to go to large hospitals for appointments and paying expensive fees. Upon receiving this news, the person in charge of healthcare in Oceanbridge City burst into tears.
"Keep in mind, in a week's time, Oceanbridge City will undergo a new change of leadership. Our actions have greatly contributed to James' political achievements. He used to be in charge of healthcare and was on the edge of power in Oceanbridge City, but now, he has become a strong candidate for the next overall leader," Xavier explained.
"All of this, naturally, can be credited to you. I estimate that it won't take long before James contacts you on his own accord, he might even come to you personally express his gratitude," Xavier chuckled.
Noah shook his head helplessly, gaining a profound understanding of his family's power.
But the entire city of Oceanbridge would be disrupted in order to allow him to practice and become a leader so he could better control the Lin Family in the future.
"Alright, enough talking. If you can help me push aside these trivial matters, then do so. If you can't push something aside, then call me. I'm going to sunbathe," Noah said casually.
"Alright, Noah." Xavier didn't say much more.
Not long after hanging up the phone, Noah received another call.
"Hello, Noah," an ethereal voice said, pleasant to the ears. "It's me, Lily."
"What's up?" Noah asked.
"There’s something, of course. A guy asked me out for dinner tonight, and I couldn't refuse, so I said I would bring my boyfriend along," Lily said.
She naturally referred to Noah as her boyfriend.
"Where and when?" Noah asked.
"The Majestic Suite, at eight o'clock," Lily answered without hesitation.
"The Majestic Suite?" Noah's eyes flickered. Just earlier, Xavier had said that the owner of The Majestic Suite wanted to personally cook for him, but Noah had declined. He didn't expect he would be going there for dinner tonight.
"Alright, I'll be there on time at eight o'clock," Noah said.
"Okay, I'll hang up now."
After hanging up the phone, Noah first went to pick up Lisa in the afternoon and then rode his bike to the Majestic Suite.
...
7:30 pm, outside the Majestic Suite.
Two girls stood there. One was wearing a long coat, knee-high boots, had black hair hanging down behind her head, a cherry-like mouth, neat eyebrows, and an exquisitely beautiful appearance. Her whole body exuded a noble and elegant temperament.
It was Lily.
The other girl, on the other hand, was wearing super short denim shorts, revealing her fair thighs, and had a shiny Cartier necklace hanging from her neck. She had a pretty oval face.
It was the girl who had accused Noah of stealing and kicked him out of the supermarket that day!
This girl was Isaiah, Lily's best friend.
