Chapter 381 Speak with Caution

"Evelyn, you just don't get it," the guy next to her laughed. "A billion bucks might be pocket change for the Harris family, but Nathaniel's a sharp businessman. Taking out a billion-dollar loan from the bank helps spread out future risks."

"And that billion can be used for all sorts of stuff, like investing in other sectors or even building a factory. So why blow it all on eco-friendly gear when he can put that cash to work somewhere else?"

Evelyn's eyes lit up as she caught on. It was a win-win. The bank would rake in interest on the billion-dollar loan, and Nathaniel would have more cash flow to invest in other areas, maybe even real estate.

"No wonder Nathaniel's running the Harris family's business. Smart move," Evelyn said, impressed.

"Exactly. Let's hustle and gather all the info on the Harris family's factories in this industrial park and submit it. Once the billion-dollar loan gets the green light, we can snag some commission," the guy added.

A billion-dollar loan naturally requires good credit or collateral. The Harris family was one of the top three families in the eastern part of Eagleland, so their credit was rock solid. The two of them were just there to handle the loan process.

"Alright!" they said, heading toward the industrial park.

---

"Mr. Anderson, this West Industrial Park is the biggest in Silverlight City, with a total of 136 factories," Terry said as they walked, glancing at the factories in the distance. "Every year, it brings in billions in tax revenue for the Silverlight City government. Over a million workers live here."

"And out of those 136 factories, 72 are owned by or have shares from the Harris family. Most of them are chemical fiber, electroplating, and paper mills, which are pretty high in pollution," Terry, the editor-in-chief of the Silverlight City Daily, explained.

"And how are the workers' living conditions here?" Noah asked.

"That, I don't know," Terry scratched his head. "Nathaniel runs a tight ship. Outsiders like us aren't allowed in without permission."

Noah nodded and kept walking toward the industrial park.

Evelyn's ears perked up at the sound of footsteps. Curious, she turned around and saw three people approaching. In the middle was a young man, flanked by two middle-aged men.

"Noah!" Evelyn's face changed, her eyes widened, and her mouth dropped open in shock. She hadn't expected to run into Noah here.

Noah was just as surprised. He hadn't expected to see Evelyn either. Lisa had mentioned that Evelyn was in Silverlight City, but he hadn't thought they'd cross paths like this.

"Noah, what are you doing here?" Evelyn stopped, looking at Noah with surprise and curiosity.

"Just some business," Noah replied coolly. He wasn't exactly fond of Evelyn, so he wasn't eager to chat.

"Business? You, who just lazes around at home, have business?" Evelyn scoffed. "This is an industrial park. Are you here to get a factory job? Didn't expect you to show some ambition!"

Her face was full of mockery. "Weren't you a delivery guy back in Oceanbridge City? Now you're working in a factory? Noah, let me tell you, any job needs persistence. Slacking off won't get you anywhere!"

"Unlike you, I've got skills. I can land a good job anywhere, like now, working at a bank."

"Are you done?" Noah shot Evelyn a sidelong glance. "If you are, step aside and stop blocking my way."

"What's the rush? Late for your factory shift?" Evelyn continued to block Noah. "Noah, Lisa is heading a major project worth billions in the slums. If those developers and partners knew her husband worked in a factory, wouldn't they laugh?"

"Oh, I just remembered something," Evelyn's eyes gleamed. "There's a billionaire in Silverlight City with the same name as you, Noah. He has billions in our Skyray Bank. Funny how people can share a name but have such different fates."

"Someone like you will always be at the bottom of society!" Evelyn sneered, clearly pleased to see Noah working in a factory.

"Evelyn, watch your words!" the man next to her suddenly said.

"Watch my words? Why?" Evelyn was puzzled.

"That Noah's companion is a big shot here in Silverlight City!" The manager's gaze turned serious as he looked at Bodhi.

"A big shot? Manager, you must be mistaken. Birds of a feather flock together. Noah's at the bottom, so his friends must be too," Evelyn rolled her eyes.

"How could I be mistaken? Didn't you see the news the other day?" The manager said sternly. "That Bodhi bought 45% of the Harris family factories for ninety billion dollars! And this Noah was sitting right next to him in the news photo!"

"Really?" Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief.

"So this Noah has hitched himself to a billionaire?" Evelyn looked at Noah, a hint of jealousy in her eyes. 'Bodhi, with a single move, spent ninety billion dollars. He must be a billionaire. Noah sitting next to him in the news photo means Bodhi values him highly!'

Evelyn was envious and jealous. She hadn't expected Noah to have a chance to turn his life around. If Bodhi could casually spend ninety billion, his assets might be in the trillions. Every bank would want him as a client.

The manager quickly stepped forward, smiling obsequiously at Bodhi. "Mr. Cooper, let me introduce myself. I'm the credit manager at Skyray Bank's Silverlight City branch. We'd be delighted to have you as a client. We offer great rates and services that will surely satisfy you!"

As he spoke, the manager respectfully handed over his business card.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind," Bodhi said, taking the card. "What brings you to the industrial park in broad daylight?"

"The Harris family is taking out a billion-dollar loan from our bank to buy eco-friendly equipment. We're just here to take some photos and complete the process," the manager replied with a smile.

"A billion dollars?" Noah's eyes flickered as he asked, "Wasn't the Harris family supposed to invest over a hundred billion in those equipments? Why is it just a billion now?"

"Noah, our manager is speaking with Mr. Cooper. Is it your place to interrupt?" Evelyn frowned, her tone icy.
