Chapter 45 Savings
"Alright, Lucas!" Aiden bowed his head, but deep down he hated Liam. This was an unjust disaster for him. The industry he controlled was going to be taken away all because his subordinates had offended someone.
He glanced at Noah again. The young man in front of him seemed a little weak, but had a mysterious aura. 'How did this young man become Mason's savior?' Aiden wondered.
"Noah, are you satisfied with how we handled this?" Lucas asked.
Noah nodded. "That's good," Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and pointed to a box by the wall. "There’s twenty million in that box, Noah. I'll have Liam transfer the one million to your account."
"No need, transfer it to Ethan instead," Noah spoke up. One million wasn't much for Noah. This wasn't an act of charity, but it was because he thought Ethan had a good character and might be useful in the future. Ethan and Heather wouldn't have to live in the dirty and chaotic slums anymore if they had one million dollars. The money would be enough for them to buy a small apartment in the remote suburbs of Oceanbridge City.
"Alright!" Lucas nodded and ordered Liam to transfer the money. In no time, Ethan received a notification for the transfer of one million dollars on his phone. Ethan’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Just a few days ago, he was desperately gambling for five thousand dollars for medicine, and now suddenly, he had one million. It made Ethan feel like he was dreaming. After a few more words, Aiden ordered his men to carry Liam away, and Lucas respectfully left as well. "Thank you so much, Noah!" Heather grabbed Noah's hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
"If it weren't for you, I really don't know how I would have gotten through this difficult situation. Ethan might have been captured and then..." Heather's voice choked.
"Liam has done nothing but cause trouble, so it's only fitting that he gets what he deserves," Noah said nonchalantly.
"Thank you, Noah" Ethan said earnestly.
"It was nothing. You take care of your grandmother in the hospital, I have something to attend to," Noah said, pulling two suitcases behind him.
He was planning to deposit the twenty million dollars in the bank. In addition to his No Preset Spending Limit Card, he also had a savings card that Larry had specially arranged for him.
Now that the restrictions lifted, he could use this card as well, so he decided to put the money in there.
Oceanbridge City, Ocean Bank.
Noah walked in dragging two suitcases behind him, attracting quite a few stares.
The bank was crowded with people doing their business, taking a number and waiting in line. Noah had to wait for a full half hour before it was his turn.
"Hello, I would like to deposit some money." Noah handed over his card.
"You want to deposit some money?" The teller was taken aback as she looked at Noah. He was dressed plainly, with suitcases on both sides of him, which seemed out of place. A hint of disdain appeared in her eyes.
"Sir, if you want to deposit some money, I suggest you just go to the ATM," the teller said expressionlessly.
Noah frowned. This was the first time he had encountered treatment like this when he was trying to deposit money in a bank.
"The ATM deposit is too slow," Noah said.
"Too slow?!" The teller was taken aback again. "Sir, the ATM can deposit ten thousand dollar each time. It would only take you one or two minutes to complete the transaction. Even if you were depositing a hundred thousand dollar, it would only take about ten minutes."
She didn't believe that Noah could deposit a hundred thousand dollar at once.
"Next please!" the teller said, pressing the button after saying that.
Noah frowned tightly. "Is this how you handle your business? Get your manager over here."
When the branch manager heard the commotion, she quickly walked over with a smile.
"May I ask what the problem is, Sir? The teller just started today, and if you're not satisfied, you can file a complaint against her," the branch manager said.
"I want to deposit some money," Noah said. "But she told me to go to the ATM to handle the deposit transaction."
"Um..." The branch manager was taken aback and carefully examined Noah up and down before saying, "I would also recommend that you use the ATM to deposit your money. We have a lot of customers today. Besides, if you're depositing just a few thousand, it would only take you a few minutes at the ATM."
"I’m not just going to deposit a few thousand."
"How much do you want to deposit?" the branch manager asked in return.
Noah opened the two suitcases. They were filled to bursting with bundles of banknotes.
"This... is so much money!" The branch manager and teller were both dumbfounded. The total amount must be several million! The other customers at the bank were also looking over, their expressions changing dramatically as they discussed it among themselves.
"Oh my, that’s so much money!"
" I’ve never seen so much cash in all my life!"
"That suitcase is about to burst!"
"We've encountered a tycoon!"
"Quiet down, everyone, please do not make a fuss and focus on your own transactions!" The security guard shouted, holding tightly onto his baton. It would be dangerous if someone got greedy at this moment,.
"Can I deposit this money?" Noah looked at the branch manager.
The branch manager was speechless, stuttering, "Y-y-yes, but according to the Eagleland Anti-Money Laundering Act and Financial Institution Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, you need to provide proof of a legal source of funds for such a large deposit."
As she finished speaking, three or four bank security guards approached them, surrounding Noah and watching him cautiously. If Noah couldn't provide proof, they would call the police.
Noah shook his head helplessly. He hadn’t expected this to be so troublesome. He should have just gone straight to the VIP reception room.
"What's going on?" A man in a suit was attracted by the commotion and walked over.
"This gentleman wants to make a large deposit." The branch manager pointed to the two boxes of banknotes on the floor.
"That’s a lot of cash!" The manager was stunned and immediately said, "Sir, according to the law, you need to provide the legal source of this money, and you also need to cooperate with the regulatory authorities to prevent illegal fundraising and money laundering activities.”
Noah didn’t say anything and took out his card, waving it in front of the manager.
“What is this...?" The manager's whole body trembled as soon as he saw the card.
"Sir, may I take a look at your card?" The manager asked.
"Sure." Noah handed the card over.
After confirming that the card was genuine, the manager immediately became respectful.
"Sir, please follow me to the VIP reception room. I will immediately arrange for professional personnel to count the amount of money. We’ll complete your deposit in the time it takes to finish a cup of tea."
"Alright." Noah was not surprised and entered the reception room.
After drinking two cups of coffee, Noah signed the deposit slip and completed the deposit.
"Have a good day, Sir!" The bank tellers bowed to Noah and watched him leave.
Once Noah was far away, the branch manager couldn't help but ask, "Was there any problem with that gentleman's source of funds?"
The manager didn't answer her question but instead asked, "Who handled the transaction for that gentleman?"
"It was the new hire,Diane."
"Starting tomorrow, she doesn't need to come to work anymore. How can she be a teller if she doesn't recognize our high-end clients’ special card?" The manager said coldly. "That card is only owned by people who deposit billions at our bank."
