Chapter 176 Master of the House, Something's Wrong!
"Noah, can you stop acting pretentious?!" Kyle was clutching his stomach, almost laughing his guts out. "The Benson family has been a century-old dynasty since the last century. How are you good enough to make the Benson Family disappear in an instant?"
"This guy really has no idea what his limits are!" Skylar, who was watching from the side, shook his head involuntarily. "The Benson family's power is massive. Even the director of Starlight City, John, probably doesn’t have the confidence to make the Benson family disappear in an instant. Where does this little trash get the courage to say such things? Does he think he can do it just because he has Mason behind him?
"But Mason is just a figure in the underworld. Their industry cannot compare to the Benson family, so naturally he can’t do that! The kid is just babbling!"
Noah ignored Kyle and Skylar's disdainful glances and took another sip of water.
"Noah, since you want to wait ten minutes, I'll let you sit here for ten minutes! I'm curious to see how your bragging will be exposed!" Kyle spoke again, his face full of mockery. "I hope that when the time comes, you will disappear immediately from my sight. Just the thought of seeing you makes me sick and disgusted!"
Tick tock...
Ten minutes passed by quickly.
"Noah, ten minutes have passed, and it seems like nothing has happened!"
Kyle checked the time and grinned. "Look at this sky, still so blue, and here I am, I’m still Kyle, and you’re still a little loser, there’s been no change at all!"
"You learned how to brag at such a young age, and you do it right in front of me. You’re really good at pretending to be someone you’re not!"
Kyle burst into laughter. "Get out of the Benson Family! If you dare to provoke me again next time, not even Mason will be able to save you."
Noah shook his head slightly, "Your perspective is too narrow, Kyle. You can only see what's in front of you. You can't see that Oceanbridge City has changed."
As soon he said that...
Clatter clatter clatter!
Suddenly, footsteps could be heard.
"Master, something's not right!"
A middle-aged man wearing glasses rushed out from the next room, looking anxious and nervous.
"What's going on, why are you in such a hurry? Don't you have eyes to see that Brooklyn and I were discussing business? Why are you running out like this? Brooklyn will be insulted!" Kyle stared harshly at the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man's last name was Wang. He was the financial controller of the Benson family and responsible for managing and calculating the income and expenses of the various industries of the Benson family. He held a high position in the Benson family.
"Something bad has happened, Master!" Claire's face turned pale. "If it wasn't urgent, I wouldn't have disturbed you!"
"What happened? Tell me quickly!" Kyle suddenly felt a vague unease in his heart.
"All of the Benson family's deposits in Eagleland Bank, Swiss Bank, and Starshine Bank have just been frozen!" Claire's voice trembled. He had just received the news and was so scared he had almost fainted.
"A total of 57 billion in assets have been frozen!”
“What?! 57 billion?!" Kyle was dumbfounded. 57 billion was all the liquid capital of the Benson family stored in the banks.
"How is that possible? Who would dare freeze the Benson family's bank funds? Have you found out the reason?" Kyle interrogated coldly.
"No, I called and asked the banks, but they didn't tell me the reason!" Claire shook his head.
"It's impossible, how is this possible? The Benson family hasn't offended anyone important, why are have our funds been frozen?" Kyle's face was full of astonishment.
Following this, he turned his gaze towards Noah, a sudden thought flashing across his mind, and then he shook his head disbelievingly. Impossible, absolutely impossible! Noah, with Mason behind him, did not have the capacity to freeze the Benson family's funds!
Meanwhile, Noah sat there with a composed demeanor.
"Something's wrong, Sir!" another voice called out.
A woman in her thirties, dressed in a black professional outfit, hurried over.
"What's the matter now?" Kyle asked, a trace of impatience in his tone, as he was currently frustrated over who had frozen the Benson family's bank funds.
"Master Aaron and Harper just submitted their resignations to me, expressing their desire to leave the Benson family's company," Savannah reported.
"What? Why would those two resign?" Kyle's expression changed dramatically. Those individuals were his right and left hand—shrewd and capable. The status the Benson family enjoyed today owed much to those two. Their contributions outweighed even Kyle's own.
After the Benson family had become the preeminent family of the Eastern Sea, Kyle had been generous with them.
He gave each of them a 10% share of the Benson family's total income annually.
He valued those two subordinates highly.
Even though the bank funds had been frozen, Kyle was not worried. With those two by his side, it wouldn't take a decade to rebuild what was lost.
But Kyle was puzzled; why would they resign when he had never mistreated them?
"I need to call them and find out!"
Kyle retrieved his mobile phone. "I don’t know why the bank funds were frozen, but I must uncover why my right-hand men are resigning!"
Kyle dialed Aaron's number.
"Hello, Aaron," he said as the call connected.
"Kyle, I have resigned and will no longer manage the Benson family's assets, so let's leave it at that. From now on, I won't address you as the master of the house," said a cool voice from the other end of the line.
Kyle's heart tightened, and he asked, "Aaron, why have you resigned? Do you feel the Benson family isn’t treating you right ? If you think that, you can discuss it with me. If you want a 20% share yearly, it can be arranged! The Benson family cannot afford to lose you!"
"Sorry, Kyle, but I've already chosen my next move, which is why I resigned," Aaron replied indifferently.
"Your next move?"
Kyle said, "Which family can offer you better treatment than the Benson family throughout the entire East Sea? Everything can be negotiated as long as you come back!"
"Don't say anything more, Kyle. I'm going to an interview with the next company. The treatment they’re offering me is ten or even a hundred times better than what the Benson family can offer. I can't go back to the Benson family," Aaron said before hanging up the phone.
Kyle stood there, dumbfounded and shocked. Aaron, his most valued subordinate, who had fought and worked together with him for thirty-four years, had actually left him?
Who exactly was Aaron's new employer who had made him quit so decisively?
Confused, Kyle dialed Harper's number.
"Hello, Harper, it's Kyle."
"I know it's you."
A deep voice came from the other end of the phone. "Kyle, I'm straightforward. Since I resigned from the Benson family, I can't go back. Calling me won't change anything."
Kyle's expression became complicated and bitter. "Harper, we've known each other for thirty years! Besides our work relationship, our personal connection has always been good..."
"Let's not bring up the past, Kyle," Harper interrupted Kyle. "Since I've resigned, I have no connection with the Benson family."
Kyle's face changed and he asked, "Alright, you no longer have a connection with the Benson family. But considering our thirty-year friendship, can you at least tell me which company or family managed to poach you?"
This was the thing Kyle most wanted to know.
He didn't want to see his core top executives being poached without any explanation.
After a brief silence on the phone, Harper finally said, "I'm sorry, Kyle, I can't tell you. But I can tell you that the person who poached me is someone the Benson family absolutely can't afford to mess with. The Benson Family is nothing more than a small ant to him."
And then, click, click, click!
Harper hung up the phone!
