Chapter 405 Nathaniel Resigns
"With these measures, plus Mayor Ward's help in controlling the media narrative, the situation should stabilize temporarily," Nathaniel concluded.
"Your strategy is sound," Isaac nodded. "But I believe these steps alone won't fully appease public anger. Even if we control the media and get workers back to their jobs, we'll have left a negative impression in the minds of Silverlight City residents. This could significantly impact our family's future."
"What do you suggest?" Nathaniel's eyes flashed with interest.
"If we're going to address this, we should be thorough. We've handled the media and worker strikes, but we still need to address public outrage," Isaac said thoughtfully. As patriarch, he considered matters from a higher vantage point.
"My proposal is to offer up a scapegoat to absorb public anger."
"I understand!" Nathaniel immediately caught on. "At the press conference, I'll take all responsibility and publicly resign from managing the family's business affairs!"
"Exactly," Isaac smiled slightly. "Of course, your resignation will be merely for show. You'll remain the actual head of our business operations."
"Agreed," Nathaniel nodded. "This way, we'll have addressed all three major issues: media coverage, worker strikes, and public anger! I'm curious to see what moves Bodhi and Noah can make now."
"Our strategy is set. Let's announce it immediately." Isaac's eyes gleamed with excitement, eager to see how his opponents would respond.
"If this matter is resolved so easily, it would be rather dull. Besides, as long as my father is with us, the Harris family cannot fall!"
At noon in Silverlight City Hospital, Bodhi suddenly called out while scrolling through his phone, "Noah, bad news!"
"What is it?" Noah set down his own phone. He'd been texting with Lisa, who was safely at the Hilton, though his villa had been vandalized—likely by the Harris family.
"The Harris family just held a press conference. Nathaniel apologized for the sweatshop situation, announced his resignation, and promised each factory worker a $100,000 subsidy!" Bodhi said urgently.
"I expect workers will return tomorrow morning," he continued, his expression serious. "These countermeasures have effectively quieted the whole affair!"
"Nathaniel also announced they've reclaimed all factory shares and showed the contract to reporters. More critically, negative news about the Harris family has disappeared from all East Eagleland media. Everything's been deleted—you can't even find mentions in searches!"
"Impressive." Noah's eyes flickered with grudging admiration. Nathaniel's public apology and resignation appeased anger. The $100,000 worker subsidy—equivalent to two years' salary—effectively resolved the strike. And the deletion of all negative news controlled the narrative at its source.
"They're one of East Eagleland's three great families with a century of history. If they could be toppled so easily, they wouldn't deserve the title," Noah mused, stroking his chin. "The complete removal of all news clearly indicates high-level government involvement. Otherwise, the media organizations wouldn't be so compliant."
"What do we do now?" Bodhi asked anxiously.
"Let me think," Noah replied. "Our immediate priority is ensuring everyone's safety. The Harris family targeting my villa suggests they might go after my family. I'm concerned about Lisa—I'll bring her here from the Hilton. I'll feel better with her nearby."
"As for our next move, I'll consult with Mr. Savage."
"Good plan." Bodhi nodded.
At the Hilton Hotel, Daniel sat on the sofa, coffee cup in hand, looking dismissively at Noah and Lisa. "What? Leave? You two can go if you want, but I'm staying. This presidential suite is luxurious—room service, excellent coffee, stunning views. I've never lived like this before."
"Dad, please come with us," Lisa pleaded. "Noah says it could be dangerous if we stay."
"Danger? What danger!" Daniel rolled his eyes. "We live in a society of laws with excellent security. I don't believe anyone could possibly abduct me! Besides, this is the Hilton's presidential suite with top-notch security—there can't be any danger!"
"Noah, have you gotten yourself in trouble with someone important?" Daniel fixed his gaze on Noah. "Let me tell you, if you've angered some big shot, don't expect me to solve your problems!"
"For my wife's sake, I'll ask you one last time—are you coming with us?" Noah had no patience for further discussion.
"I've already told you, I'm comfortable here and I'm not leaving," Daniel insisted.
"Fine." Noah said nothing more, leading Lisa out of the Hilton. Luna had been doing outdoor livestreams and had already moved to another hotel days ago.
Noah took Lisa directly to Tomas's Eyfel Hotel. With the Moore family backing the Eyfel, the Harris family would have to consider the Moore family's stance before taking any extreme actions. He settled Lisa in a room, then headed to Tomas's study to discuss their next steps.
Meanwhile at the Harris Manor, a stern-faced man entered and reported, "Mr. Harris, we've located Noah and Bodhi."
"Where are they?" Isaac asked. With the public relations crisis resolved, it was time to deal with the troublemakers.
"Bodhi is at Silverlight City Hospital. Noah's other residence is at the Hilton Hotel, where his wife and father-in-law are also staying," the man reported.
"The hospital is a public institution with government oversight. Apprehending someone there would be inconvenient," Isaac's eyes flashed as he quickly decided. "Send men to the Hilton immediately. Bring Noah's family here. Remember, Noah has people working for him, so bring firearms to avoid any surprises!"
"Yes, Mr. Harris!"
Back at the Hilton, the door to the presidential suite was kicked open with a crash.
"Who's there? How rude!" Daniel's eyes widened as he sat alone on the sofa.
