Chapter 378 The Man in the Wind
"Married?" Audrey was floored. "Noah, you're so young, and you're already hitched?"
The whole office buzzed with disbelief. No one saw this coming.
"Seriously? Mr. Anderson tied the knot already?"
"Who's the lucky girl who snagged Noah?"
"I'm jealous of her!"
The room was alive with chatter.
Audrey's face showed a flicker of disappointment as she bit her lip. "Noah, if you're not into me, just say it! You don't have to pretend you're married."
"I'm not exactly a knockout, and my family's just average here in Silverlight City. I don't measure up to you, so there's no need to make up a story about being married. You could've just turned me down."
Noah was caught off guard, not expecting Audrey to question his honesty.
Looking heartbroken, Audrey went back to her desk and dabbed her eyes with a tissue.
Noah shook his head, feeling a bit helpless. He hadn't misled Audrey and had been upfront about his marriage, so he didn't feel guilty.
Later, after class, Noah left Silverline Square with Clementine.
Back at the Hilton, he took Clementine out for an outdoor livestream.
Luna had set up a visit to a local food street, so the three of them headed over.
The food street was bustling, filled with the mouthwatering aroma of street food. Vendors shouted out to the crowd.
Noah joined Luna for the livestream, hoping to clear his head after yesterday's drama with North.
Luna and Clementine, each with a selfie stick, walked down the street, streaming live. Noah strolled between them, drawing plenty of attention.
"Wow, two gorgeous ladies!"
"One's got this angelic vibe, and the other's so bubbly and cute."
"Stunning!"
"That guy in the middle is one lucky dude, hanging out with two beauties!"
People couldn't help but notice Luna and Clementine. Each had her own unique allure.
But when they saw Noah, envy was written all over their faces.
Noah brushed off the stares, unfazed.
Luna and Clementine, with earpieces in, chatted with their audience on Facebook Live.
Both were top streamers with millions of followers, and their joint stream pulled in even more viewers.
Fans even stopped them for autographs as they walked.
As they strolled, they thanked fans for their gifts.
A golden treasure map popped up on Clementine's screen.
"Thanks, The man in the wind, for the treasure map!" Clementine said.
The treasure map was worth ten grand. Even though she wasn't thrilled with The man in the wind, Clementine had to show her appreciation.
Since she started streaming on Facebook Live, The man in the wind had been dropping at least a hundred grand on her daily.
With so many viewers watching, she had to be polite, even if she wasn't happy about it.
[Clementine, is that the Rays Street food market in Silverlight City?] The man in the wind commented.
"Yeah," Clementine replied, feeling a bit on edge.
[What a coincidence, I'm at Rays Street too! Maybe we'll bump into each other!] The man in the wind commented again. [Remember what I told you before? If you let me keep you, I'll pay you ten million dollars a year!]
Clementine frowned at the comment and chose not to reply.
[Why aren't you answering? I've showered you with gifts, and you just ignore me?] The man in the wind pressed on. [You're stunning, and I'm sure plenty of people want to back you. You can't seriously be turning down ten million dollars, right?[
[If that's not enough, I can make it twenty million. Money's not an issue for me!]
[If you don't respond, I'll come find you!]
[I'm at the food street too, and I see you!]
His comments kept flooding in.
Clementine's expression shifted, her heart pounding. She was genuinely worried The man in the wind might approach her in person.
"What's up?" Noah asked, noticing her change in demeanor.
"Mr. Anderson, remember the guy I told you about, The man in the wind? He's here at the food street too, and he says he can see me," Clementine said, biting her lip, clearly uneasy.
"The man in the wind?" Noah recalled Clementine mentioning someone offering her a fortune to support her.
"Clementine!" A young man called out as he approached them.
He was decked out in a Supreme jacket, red on top and white on the bottom, looking very trendy. His blond hair was styled in waves, and a thin string was tied across his forehead, giving him a sunny, boyish look. This type of guy was popular with young girls.
But his eyes held arrogance, a look that seemed to dismiss everyone around him.
Seeing those eyes, Noah was reminded of someone—Hawk.
But while Hawk exuded confidence, this guy was just arrogant.
"Who are you?" Clementine asked, curious as the young man called her name.
"I'm The man in the wind," the young man grinned.
Clementine's eyes flickered. She had expected The man in the wind, who offered her a million dollars, to be some nouveau riche, but he turned out to be a young man, and quite handsome at that.
"Turn off your stream. You don't need to stream anymore; I'll take care of you," the young man said directly. "Twenty million dollars a year, and if that's not enough, we can negotiate. You just need to be available when I want to see you, and of course, sex."
His words were as direct as his arrogance.
"Sorry, streaming is my job. Please don't mention the support thing again," Clementine replied coldly.
She hadn't expected this seemingly sunny and handsome young man to have such a dirty mind.
"So you're rejecting me?" The young man frowned. "I've been gifting you over a hundred thousand dollars daily, showing my financial power. I hope you'll reconsider my offer."
His words sounded more like a command than a suggestion.
"No need to reconsider. I can refund all those gifts," Clementine said icily.
Rejected again, the young man's face turned cold. He had never been turned down before.
"Let me introduce myself. I'm Rhett Harris, a local from Silverlight City," Rhett said with a proud look in his eyes. "Clementine, with your insight, you should know what the Harris name represents in Silverlight City, right?"
