Chapter 366 I Have Always Stood at the Top
Larry was caught off guard. "Sarah, let's not talk about that loser while I'm driving. It ruins my mood."
"But babe, check this out." Sarah held her phone up to Larry's face.
Larry glanced at it. "A billionaire spends nine billion dollars to buy 45% of the Harris Group's factory shares—So what? Is there something wrong with this news?"
"Look at the picture. The guy sitting next to Bodhi," Sarah's voice shook with emotion.
Larry looked at the news photo and saw a familiar young face.
"Noah!" Larry's face changed dramatically. He couldn't believe his eyes.
The young man in the picture was indeed Noah!
"How is this possible? How could that loser Noah be at such an important event?"
Larry was in disbelief, but the photo didn't lie. It was Noah!
Larry couldn't possibly mistake that loser.
"Bodhi is a top-tier billionaire who can throw around nine billion dollars like it's nothing. How could Noah, a nobody, have the qualifications to sit next to him?"
Larry's mind was in turmoil, his breathing quickened, and he felt his worldview shatter in an instant.
He quickly slowed down and pulled over, afraid that his emotions might cause him to lose control of the car and crash.
He exhaled deeply, feeling like the picture had drained all the strength from his body.
"If that loser Noah really has connections with such a top-tier billionaire, then even a little favor from Bodhi could make him incredibly successful."
Larry's expression turned bitter. "And then, the gap between us will widen instantly. He used to be someone I could step on, but now, he might end up above me."
"Yeah! If this gets out, our family's reputation will be ruined!" Sarah bit her lip, her face darkening. "I'm really curious. Noah has no skills, no abilities, and he's always putting on airs. What could a top-tier billionaire like Bodhi see in him to keep him around?"
"At this point, we can only take it one step at a time," Larry sighed. "No matter what, everyone knows Noah is a loser. I bet he used some sweet talk to deceive Bodhi into trusting him, which is why he got to attend this contract signing ceremony."
"But time will reveal everything. It won't be long before Bodhi realizes that Noah is just a smooth talker with no real talent or skills."
"By then, Bodhi will naturally kick him out!"
"You're right, honey," Sarah nodded. "In today's world, you can't get by on just words. You need real skills. Clearly, Noah doesn't have any."
"When that happens, he'll be discarded! The higher he stands now, the harder he'll fall!"
"Exactly. I can't wait to see that!" Larry smiled. "Falling from such a height is incredibly painful. After all, I'm experiencing it right now."
"But that loser Noah is currently standing higher than me. When he falls, it'll be ten times, a hundred times more painful."
At the highway toll booth, a car slowly pulled out and stopped by the roadside.
"Noah!" The car door opened, and Luna jumped out, having already spotted Noah standing there.
"Noah, it's been forever! I missed you so much!" Luna rushed forward and gave Noah a big hug.
"Glad you're here. Let's get in the car." Noah patted Luna's back and opened the car door for her.
As for Larry and Sarah, Noah didn't even glance at them.
"Noah, got a new car?" Sarah looked at Noah's vehicle and sneered. "A minivan, huh? I thought since you latched onto a top-tier billionaire like Bodhi, he'd give you a luxury car, like a BMW 5 Series or a Mercedes E-Class. But it's just a minivan."
"Sarah, this isn't a minivan." Larry looked at Noah's car with a serious expression, even a bit jealous. "This is a GMC Business Star, worth over a million dollars! It's almost on par with a BMW 7 Series."
"Over a million dollars!" Sarah was stunned. "Noah, I didn't expect a loser like you to have a comeback and drive a car worth that much!"
She felt a mix of envy and jealousy.
"But so what?" Larry was indifferent. "The higher you stand, the harder you fall! Noah, you should know your own abilities. You can't do anything. You're just a loser! You might have sweet-talked your way into Bodhi's favor, but eventually, Bodhi will realize you're useless."
"When that happens, he'll kick you out!"
"You were originally at the bottom of society. Climbing so high only to fall again will be incredibly painful! You'll experience it soon enough!"
"Exactly! The higher you stand, the harder you fall. Noah, don't think you can be arrogant just because you have a connection with Bodhi. Your downfall is inevitable!" Sarah said smugly.
"The higher you stand, the harder you fall?" Noah scoffed, glancing at Larry and Sarah. "Sorry, but I've always been at the top."
With that, he turned and walked towards the car.
The GMC slowly drove away.
"Always been at the top? This Noah, if anything, has gotten better at bragging!" Sarah sneered. "He should remember what he used to be like, just a loser who did nothing but laze around at home. And now he claims he's always been at the top? Shameless!"
"Sarah, let's go. We have to meet those developers. No need to get angry over Noah," Larry said. "Noah is just a small-time success right now. He'll have his downfall soon enough!"
With that, the two got into their car.
Hilton Hotel.
Noah and Luna walked in slowly.
"Noah, I didn't expect you to be so rich, staying at the Hilton. Even the most basic room here costs several hundred dollars a night!" Luna looked around the luxurious lobby, clicking her tongue in amazement.
"I'm staying in the presidential suite, booked for a month," Noah said casually.
"The presidential suite for a month?" Luna's jaw dropped. "Noah, you must be kidding! That would cost tens of thousands of dollars just for the room!"
"Why would I lie about something like this?" Noah smiled. He didn't mention that with the four-person suite for East and the others, the monthly cost was over a million dollars.
Luna reminded Noah of Lisa, who lived in Oceanbridge City.
