Chapter 309 Six Elders

"These scars? Got them fighting Luke," Mason said in his deep voice, pointing to the marks on his arm.

"Seriously? I had no clue!"

"Man, Ethan really stepped up. He got hurt trying to catch Luke!"

"I think Ethan should take over Mason's spot!"

"With all he's done, Ethan deserves to take over!"

The crowd buzzed with chatter, their eyes now filled with respect for Ethan.

"Mason sure knows how to work the crowd," Bodhi muttered. "He's really setting Ethan up to win everyone over."

Sitting in the back on a wooden chair, Otis listened to the chatter, his brows furrowed, jealousy and anger burning in his eyes.

"Mr. Murphy, it's almost time," he whispered to Yves, glancing at his watch.

"I know, just a little longer," Yves replied with a confident smile.

Meanwhile, outside the Luca Mansion, a convoy of black Buick SUVs suddenly arrived, more than twenty in total.

"What's going on?" one of the guards at the gate, wearing sunglasses, muttered.

The SUV doors opened, and men in black suits, their faces covered with black cloths, stepped out, exuding a menacing aura. They quickly approached the mansion's entrance.

"Stop right there! This is private property, no entry," one of the guards began, but a cold object pressed against his forehead.

"From now on, you'd better not say another word," one of the masked men warned.

The other guard sneered, "This is The Luca Mansion. You can't just..."

A dull thud sounded, and the guard's body went limp, his eyes wide open as he collapsed to the ground.

Seeing this, the other guard turned pale with fear.

"Remember, no noise!" the masked man ordered, waving his hand. "You all know the layout and the positions of the Respect Noah Pavilion guards, right?"

"Yes!"

"Yes!"

The group of masked men nodded in unison.

"Good, let's go in."

Inside the courtyard, Ethan had already put his shirt back on.

"In addition to what I just mentioned, I've also handed over some businesses to Ethan to manage," Mason continued. "He's done an excellent job with them, and I'm very satisfied. You all must have noticed too."

"Those businesses have been thriving."

"Not only that, Ethan did a great job taking down Luke and Lucas's forces!"

"In short, Ethan, you have my respect!"

The crowd murmured in agreement.

Seeing the atmosphere was just right, Mason raised his voice, "In terms of ability and contributions, Ethan is top-notch. Plus, he's young and driven. Under his leadership, we'll only get better!"

"Anyone got a problem with this?" Mason scanned the crowd from the stage.

"No way!"

"I'm all for Ethan!"

"Ethan!"

"Ethan!"

"Ethan!"

The crowd's cheers were deafening, their spirits high.

"I agree too! Ethan's the best choice!" Billy shouted, his excitement palpable.

Mason nodded in satisfaction and raised his hand, silencing the crowd immediately.

"Ethan needs not only your support but also the approval of the elders," Mason said, turning to the nine wooden chairs behind him. "Among those seated here, seven are my comrades, who have been through thick and thin with me. Mr. Murphy is here as a guest, but the other six are my closest friends."

Mason's voice was filled with emotion. "Some of them have even saved my life. Without them, there would be no Mason today. They are the elders, and their contributions are invaluable."

"Now, do you agree?" Mason asked the six elders.

The crowd fell silent, all eyes on the six elders. They knew that for Ethan to truly succeed, he needed the elders' approval.

"The elders should agree, right?" Billy whispered, holding his breath, his heart racing. Bodhi and Daisy were equally tense.

Noah's ears twitched as he heard a faint, dull sound. His heightened senses picked it up immediately.

Another two sounds followed.

"That sound..." Noah's eyes narrowed, a sense of unease creeping over him. "It might just be normal noise. Maybe I'm overthinking it."

He glanced at the third-floor balcony, where rows of Respect Noah Pavilion guards stood motionless. But there seemed to be fewer of them, and a few new faces.

"Maybe I'm just being paranoid. With so many Respect Noah Pavilion guards here, the chance of anything happening is slim," Noah thought, shaking his head and refocusing on the stage.

"Do you agree?" Mason asked the six elders again.

The elders, all in their forties and fifties, exchanged glances.

"I agree," the elder on the far left said.

"I agree too!"

"Ethan is great!"

"Mason, I trust your judgment!"

"I like Ethan, too."

Within seconds, five of the six elders had agreed to Ethan's succession.

With a five-to-one majority, Ethan's path was clear.

"Ethan!"

"Ethan!"

"Ethan!"

The crowd's cheers were thunderous.

"Ethan, Ethan!" Billy shouted, overjoyed.

Mason's gaze fell on the man in the middle—Otis. He was curious why Otis hadn't agreed.

Otis met Mason's gaze, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Noah's heart skipped a beat, his hair standing on end as the dull sound echoed again.

"Something's wrong!"
