Chapter 379 Seriously?
Clementine's eyes flickered. Rhett was so full of himself, asking a question like that. It was obvious he was from the Harris family in Silverlight City.
"So what if you're a Harris? I don't want to be some kept woman. Think the Harris family can just force me?" Clementine shot back, her voice icy.
"Actually, yeah, we can," Rhett replied, his voice dripping with arrogance. "As long as you're in Silverlight City, the Harris family can do whatever we want with you."
His eyes gleamed with the confidence of someone who knew the power his family wielded.
"We've got people everywhere—the cops, the transit system, even the state government. Making you disappear would be a piece of cake, and no one would ever know. With just one word, I could keep you locked up in my mansion forever."
"Every day, I could do whatever I want with you," Rhett laughed. "So, Clementine, don't push your luck. It's your honor that I'm interested in you, understand?"
Clementine's face went pale with fear. She was just a streamer, using her classical dance to entertain and make a living. She had no connections, no background to match the Harris family. Compared to them, she was nothing.
"So, here's the deal: take twenty million bucks and agree to my offer, or I'll use my connections to make you disappear and spend the next ten years in my mansion," Rhett said. "Once I'm done with you, I'll let you go when you're old and used up."
As soon as he finished, a sharp slap echoed through the air.
Rhett gasped, his left cheek burning with pain. "Who the hell are you? How dare you hit me?"
Rhett's eyes landed on a young man standing next to Clementine.
"Disappear? Seriously? You think you can pull that off?" Noah sneered at Rhett.
"Serious?" Rhett's eyes widened. "You little nobody, I'm telling you, the Harris family has that power!"
"Power? Show me how you plan to make Clementine disappear!" Noah chuckled.
"You questioning the Harris family's power?" Rhett's eyes blazed with anger, feeling deeply insulted. "Maybe someone like you, at the bottom of the barrel, hasn't even heard of the Harris family! Fine, I'll show you just how terrifying and undeniable the Harris family's methods are!"
With that, Rhett pulled out his phone and made a call. "Bring some people over."
"What's up, Mr. Harris? Got a problem?" a voice came through.
"Cut the crap and just get over here. I'm at your snack street," Rhett said impatiently.
"Alright, alright, Mr. Harris, I'll be there in a minute!" the voice replied.
Hanging up, Rhett sneered at Noah. "You know what the Harris family's power means? Every corner of Silverlight City is under our thumb."
"Like this snack street, the owner here works for us. But never mind, explaining this to someone like you is pointless. I'll just show you a glimpse of the Harris family's power."
Noah rolled his eyes, smiling silently.
In less than a minute, a chubby man came running over.
"Mr. Harris! Mr. Harris!" the man called out, practically tripping over himself to get there. "Sorry for the delay, Mr. Harris. Who's the idiot that dared to mess with you? Don't worry, I'll handle it!"
This was the owner of Rays Street, where every shop was under his name. He owed the Harris family big time since they financed his purchase of the street. He used to have shares in their factories, but after Nathaniel reclaimed them, he was left collecting rent from the snack street.
Trailing behind him were six security guards, causing quite a stir and catching the eyes of everyone around.
"What's happening?"
"Are they about to throw down?"
"Rough him up and get him outta here!" Rhett said, pointing at Noah like it was no big deal.
"Who dares to cross you? They're asking for it!" The man followed Rhett's finger and froze. "Noah!"
He recognized the young man immediately. Just a few days ago, they'd shared a meal at the Silverlight City Hotel. This guy was the assistant to the elusive billionaire Bodhi.
Bodhi was a major player, having invested nine billion dollars and now owning 45% of the Harris family's factories. If he laid a finger on Noah and Bodhi retaliated, he'd be in deep trouble.
"Mr. Harris, we can't touch this guy!" the man said, nervously rubbing his hands and forcing a smile at Rhett.
"Can't touch him?" Rhett was stunned. "Is there anyone in Silverlight City I can't touch?"
"Mr. Harris, to be honest, this guy's got Bodhi backing him..." The man leaned in and whispered Noah's connections to Rhett.
Rhett gave Noah a long, hard look. "So that's why you're so cocky. You've got someone in your corner."
"Big deal. Bodhi might be loaded, but that cash ain't yours!" Rhett continued. "To Bodhi, you're just a pawn. Even if I rough you up, Bodhi won't come after the Harris family for you!"
"Hit him!" Rhett ordered.
The man's face fell. "Mr. Harris, are you sure? This guy's got Bodhi behind him! He's a big deal in Silverlight City now!"
"I said hit him! If Bodhi comes knocking, I'll deal with it!" Rhett said coldly. "People like him think they can throw their weight around just because they're connected to Bodhi! They don't even respect the Harris family. Today, I'll show him what the Harris family is made of!"
"Alright, if you say so, let's do it!" The man gritted his teeth and gave the signal.
The six security guards immediately closed in on Noah.
"Beat him to a pulp. Don't worry, the Harris family isn't scared of Bodhi!" Rhett shouted. "Break a leg, and I'll throw in ten grand!"
Spurred on, the guards' eyes lit up, and they charged at Noah.
"Mr. Anderson!" "Noah, get out of there!" Clementine and Luna yelled.
Noah just smiled. These guards were nothing to him. He lifted his right foot and kicked forward.
Thuds echoed as the guards couldn't even get close to Noah. In the blink of an eye, they were all on the ground, groaning in pain.
"This guy's a martial artist!" the man exclaimed, eyes wide.
Meanwhile, Noah's amused gaze settled on Rhett.
