Chapter 360 Nathaniel's Methods

The shareholders in the room were silent, their faces betraying their inner turmoil. They didn't want to give up their shares, but they also couldn't afford the expensive environmental equipment needed to keep their factories running.

"Alright, what do you all think of my proposal? Don't just sit there in silence!" Nathaniel's voice cut through the tension as he looked directly at one of the shareholders sitting in the front. "Gray, why don't you start?"

He continued, squinting his eyes. "If I remember right, you own ten percent of the shares in the Silverlight City factory. So your part in this purchase would be... three hundred million dollars."

"Three hundred million dollars!" Gray exclaimed, his voice rising. "Mr. Harris, my net worth is only around ninety million dollars. How am I supposed to come up with that money?"

"Just like I said, you can give up your shares. You can't just sit back and watch the factory close because it doesn't meet environmental standards," Nathaniel said calmly. "Besides, you're already a grandfather. It's time to retire and enjoy life. Why stay in the cutthroat world of business?"

Gray's face turned a shade paler, but he finally nodded. "Mr. Harris, you're right. I agree to transfer my shares."

"Smart decision," Nathaniel said with a smile before turning to another shareholder. "Holden, you own three percent of the shares in the oil refinery. That means you need to come up with sixty million dollars. Can you manage that?"

"Mr. Harris, please, I'll transfer my shares," Holden said, his face showing clear distress. He didn't have that kind of money.

Nathaniel nodded, satisfied. Everything was going according to plan.

In less than half an hour, all the shareholders had agreed to transfer their shares. The Harris family would spend twenty billion dollars on the environmental equipment.

'Impressive!' Noah, who had been watching the entire scene unfold, couldn't help but admire Nathaniel's business acumen. If the shareholders couldn't afford the equipment, they had to give up their shares, and the Harris family would pay for it. The factories couldn't be allowed to close.

Suddenly, a chilling thought crossed Noah's mind. What if Nathaniel had colluded with the company producing the environmental equipment to inflate the prices, making it impossible for the smaller shareholders to afford it? The more he thought about it, the more impressed he was by Nathaniel's cunning.

"It seems everyone here understands the importance of knowing when to advance and when to retreat," Nathaniel said, raising his glass. "I'm glad to see you all willing to let go of your shares. Even though the Harris family will have to spend twenty billion dollars on these equipments, it's worth it to keep the factories running. I toast to you all!"

"Thank you, Mr. Harris!"

"Yes, without you, we wouldn't know what to do about the environmental equipment!"

"We'd have no choice but to watch the factories close!"

Several shareholders raised their glasses in gratitude and drank deeply.

"Let's not waste any time. Hawk, bring out the share transfer contracts for everyone. If there are no issues, let's get them signed," Nathaniel said, setting his glass down.

"Sure thing, Dad," Hawk replied, pulling a stack of contracts from his briefcase and distributing them to the shareholders.

"Please, sign the contracts," Nathaniel said with a smile once everyone had a copy.

The shareholders obediently signed. When it was all done, Nathaniel's lips curled into a slight smile, though his expression remained composed. From now on, all the factory shares were back in the hands of the Harris family.

"Mr. Harris, I've heard that the Harris family might be under some financial pressure with the twenty billion dollar purchase of the environmental equipment," Noah said suddenly. "Mr. Cooper would like to help by investing some money in exchange for a portion of the shares."

"Do you think you have the right to speak here?" Nathaniel's eyes flashed with cold intensity as he glared at Noah, the pressure in his gaze palpable.

Most people would have been intimidated into silence, but Noah remained unfazed. "I'm not just anyone. I'm Mr. Cooper's assistant."

"Mr. Harris, Noah is fully authorized to handle this matter on my behalf," Bodhi said with a grin. "I've just returned to the country and don't know much about the current situation. So, I'm leaving it all to him. I'll just provide the funds."

Bodhi's demeanor gave the impression of someone with more money than sense.

Nathaniel's eyes narrowed. The name Noah sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. "I see. Mr. Cooper, you should have said so earlier!"

He smiled. " Noah, since you're handling this, tell me how you plan to invest."

"We were planning to invest sixty billion dollars for a proportional share of the factories," Noah said with a smile. "But now that all the shares are in your hands, how about we take forty-five percent of the shares?"

"Forty-five percent!" Nathaniel's eyes widened. That many shares would require at least nine billion dollars, not six.

He glanced at Bodhi, realizing that if they were asking for forty-five percent, they must be able to come up with the nine billion dollars. He hadn't expected Bodhi to be so wealthy.

"Forty-five percent!"

"Is Mr. Cooper really that rich?"

The other shareholders were equally stunned.

Nathaniel confirmed, "Noah, you're asking for forty-five percent of the shares. Can you really come up with nine billion dollars?"

"Don't worry. Mr. Cooper's pocket is full of money," Noah said confidently.

Nathaniel fell silent, his mind racing. Hawk, too, was deep in thought, stroking his chin. This was a significant decision for the entire Harris family. Giving up forty-five percent of the shares to Bodhi would still leave them in control of the factories, but if anything went wrong, they could lose everything.

"Alright, I agree!" Nathaniel said decisively after nearly half a minute of contemplation.

"Father! You..." Hawk began to protest.

"Hawk, don't say anything. I know what you're thinking," Nathaniel interrupted, raising his hand to silence him.
