Chapter 291 Mason Abdicates
"Atlas, I..." Larry tried to explain, but Atlas cut him off.
"Larry, you broke the rules of the 'I Am a Super Rich' show. You've got three days to return the ten million dollars to the production team," Atlas said bluntly. "If you can't, we'll see you in court. That three million you used for loan sharking wasn't yours. You could be looking at serious prison time for that alone!"
"Please, Atlas." Larry's face went pale as he tried to plead, but the call ended with a click.
"How did Atlas find out about the loan sharking?" Larry's face was ashen. He needed to return the ten million dollars, but he only had about five hundred thousand. The rest was all loaned out.
Raising ten million in three days seemed impossible.
"Am I really going to end up in court and then in prison?" Larry muttered to himself, feeling a wave of despair.
"No, I can't go to prison! I'd rather die!" Gritting his teeth, Larry opened a drawer in his room, revealing the deed to his mansion.
Meanwhile, at Noah's mansion.
Noah's phone buzzed with a notification. He picked it up and saw a message from Nathan on Facebook:
[Mr. Anderson, I've informed the 'I Am a Super Rich' production team to fire Larry.]
[Got it.]
Noah replied and continued eating his breakfast. After finishing, his phone rang.
"Mr. Anderson, it's Mason." Mason's voice was somber.
"What's up?" Noah asked, smiling.
"That Ethan kid, I think he's pretty good." Mason got straight to the point. "Under his management, the dark forces in Oceanbridge City are now completely unified. He's also taken over Lucas's operations and is managing them well. I've given him some businesses to handle, and he's doing a great job."
"Right now, besides me, Ethan has the highest reputation among the gray forces in Oceanbridge City."
"Mason, what are you getting at?" Noah's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Mr. Anderson, I've mentioned retiring to you several times before," Mason said with a chuckle. "I'm not getting any younger. I've been through a lot over the years. Reading the Bible has made me realize that worldly pain, power, status, and money are all fleeting. I just want to retire to the countryside and live a peaceful life."
"So, I want to pass my position to Ethan. He's the most suitable candidate to lead the gray forces in Oceanbridge City."
Noah's expression turned serious. This was a big deal. He had always supported Ethan's rise but never considered him replacing Mason. Ethan was still in his early twenties, with limited experience and skills.
Handing Mason's position to Ethan could lead to unforeseen problems.
"Mason, this is too significant. I don't think Ethan is ready," Noah said.
"Mr. Anderson, I really think Ethan's the right choice," Mason insisted. "First off, he's your protégé. He's loyal to you. Sure, someone else might have more experience, but they won't have the same loyalty."
"Second, Ethan's young and eager to learn. He owns up to his mistakes and fixes them. Give him three years, and he could be a major asset."
"I've tested him with some businesses. He makes minor mistakes here and there, but overall, he's doing great. I'm very satisfied."
"Go on." Noah nodded, considering Mason's points.
"Third, Ethan's got ambition and drive. His goals go beyond just Oceanbridge City."
Mason continued, "I'm getting old, and my drive has faded. It's time for someone young and ambitious like Ethan to take over. The gray forces in the eastern part of Eagleland are in turmoil, making it the perfect environment for someone like him."
"Mr. Anderson, these are my main reasons for wanting to pass the position to Ethan," Mason concluded. "If you don't agree, we can wait for another suitable candidate."
Noah thought for a moment before saying, "Alright, if you're so determined, then let's pass the position to Ethan."
"Good." Mason said, "We shouldn't delay. Let's do it in three days. I'll spread the word and gather the leaders of ohter forces to witness it."
"Alright," Noah agreed and hung up.
Shortly after, his phone rang again. It was Ethan.
"Noah, Mason just told me he's passing the position to me!" Ethan's voice was filled with excitement.
"Yeah, I know. Get ready over the next couple of days," Noah said calmly. "Soon, the entire gray force of Oceanbridge City will be yours!"
"Don't worry, Noah. I know who got me here!" Ethan said. "Without you, I'd still be a small-time thug in the slums. Even if I reach Mason's position, I'll never forget who made me."
"Good." Noah hung up and turned his attention to the logistics cooperation with the Winchester family.
He opened Facebook and messaged Zack:
[Set up a meeting with the head of the Winchester family. I want to discuss logistics cooperation personally.]
[Sure, Mr. Anderson. I'll contact the head of the Winchester family right away,] Zack replied shortly.
Noah then messaged Lily and Anna.
Lily immediately agreed to contact the Winchester family head.
Anna called Noah to apologize for misunderstanding him at the Royal Villa. Noah assured her it was no big deal, and she agreed to help arrange a meeting with the Winchester family head through Danielle Edward, the head of the Edward family.
At the Winchester family headquarters in Oceanbridge City.
Wren Winchester, the family head, sat at her desk in a luxurious dress, exuding a subtle authority.
"Mrs. Winchester, the three major families of Oceanbridge City have sent an invitation for you to meet with a young man named Noah to discuss some matters," her secretary said, walking in briskly.
