Chapter 79 Offending the Unoffendable

"Oh, is the Director calling?" Mike was a bit surprised when he saw the number.

"Shh! Quiet!" Jake put his index finger on his lips with a serious expression. "My son is going to talk to the Director on the phone. Everyone, be quiet, put Noah aside for now, don't anger the Director!"

Everyone nodded and fell silent, all eyes on Mike.

Mike took a deep breath and pressed the answer button, smiling. "Hello, Mr. Director!"

"He handles his superiors well, he’ll definitely become a director in the future!" Daniel admired him.

"You don't work for me anymore, Mike," Director's cold voice said.

"Huh?" Mike's eyes lit up. "Mr. Director, are you transferring me to another department?"

He understood that in a unit like this, the healthcare system didn't offer much room for advancement. If he was transferred to another department, he would definitely be able to earn more.

"Heh, what I mean is, you don't need to come to work anymore. James has already removed your file," Director laughed coldly.

Boom!

In that instant, Mike felt like he had been abandoned by the world.

His legs went weak, his whole body felt powerless, and he sat down on the ground with a face full of despair.

"What's wrong? What did the Director say?" Jake hurriedly went over to support Mike.

"I lost my job. The Director said that my file has been erased," Mike murmured, his eyes empty.

"What? How could that happen?!" Jake became anxious. "Isn't working in the healthcare system a stable job? Why would it just disappear like that? Did the Director give you a reason?"

"No." Mike shook his head. "The Director hung up."

"How could this happen?!" Jake stomped his feet in frustration, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into. His son had gotten into the healthcare system, and he felt really happy as a father. He had been radiant and had even invited relatives over for a celebratory meal.

But now, the stable job had just disappeared.

Jake felt utterly embarrassed.

"Larry!"

Jake immediately turned to Larry and said, "Don't you have a good relationship with the Director? Can you ask him why Mike was let go? There must be a reason they don't want him anymore!"

"Okay, don't worry, I'll call the Director right away!" Larry dialed the Director's number and put it on speakerphone.

The call connected.

"Hello, Director..."

"Larry, I know why you're calling," the Director interrupted him. "Tell Mike that he offended someone he shouldn't have. That's why he was fired."

After saying that, the Director hung up.

"He offended someone he shouldn't have?

Mike was dumbfounded. He racked his brain, but he hadn't offended anyone during this time!

Could it be...

Mike looked at Noah. If anyone was offended, it would be Noah.

Since Noah had entered the restaurant, Mike had constantly made sarcastic remarks toward him.

But was Noah someone he shouldn't offend? No way. How could a loser like him be someone he shouldn't offend?

"Who on earth is it?"

Mike frowned, feeling uneasy.

Daniel and the others remained silent, feeling sorry for Mike and curious about who he had offended.

"Let's go home, Lisa," Noah said, standing up. Since Mike had been fired from the health system, there was no need to finish this meal.

"Okay!" Lisa also stood up.

"Noah, you loser, are you happy now? I can't get into the health system because of you!" Mike looked at Noah with resentment. "I’ve been fired, most likely because you offended the Director and James. Are you satisfied now?"

Noah was taken aback. To be honest, he had never really cared about Mike, but now he was starting to provoke him again.

Noah smirked. "I'm very happy. After all, you had job security. I was really jealous!

"I’m very happy now that you've been fired! I'll celebrate with champagne when I get home! Hahaha!"

"Noah, you loser, how dare you talk to me like that!" Mike's eyes turned red with anger, his whole body trembling. He seemed to be breathing smoke.

Noah's words were like adding insult to injury!

It was painful enough that he had lost his stable job, but it felt like Noah was stabbing him with his words, causing excruciating pain.

"I'll beat you up!"

Mike clenched his fists and charged at Noah.

Noah kicked him away without even looking at him.

Bang!

Mike was sent flying five meters away and crashed onto the ground, tumbling repeatedly.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Mike exclaimed in pain.

His face was covered in blood, and he felt intense pain all over his body. Every bone seemed to be crushed, causing him to tremble uncontrollably.

"Let's go, Lisa."

Noah pulled Lisa along and walked toward the restaurant's exit.

As he left, he said, "By the way, once the new house is renovated, we’ll invite you all over for a meal. Remember to bring a housewarming gift."

"What are they renovating? It's just a second-hand house, they’re just taking over someone else's property. They make it seem like it's as grand as our villa, and they even want a gift. How shameless!" Sarah sneered.

"Mike, are you okay?"

Jake looked concerned as he reached out to support his son.

"It hurts so much..." Mike gritted his teeth.

"I have to go home. Once Luna returns from abroad, I need to tidy up her room." Zoe spoke up.

"Daniel, I warn you, Noah is a useless man. Lisa shouldn’t stay married to him. I hope you’ll quickly get Lisa divorced from that good-for-nothing!"

"I know that. I don't need you to lecture me." Daniel frowned and asked, "Speaking of which, how is Luna?"

"Hmph, Luna is doing well. She studied abroad from a young age and received top-notch education. She even has a doctorate degree now, with limitless prospects!" Zoe rolled her eyes.

"Divorcing you was definitely the right decision; otherwise, Luna wouldn’t have received such a good education!"

"I'm relieved to hear that she’s doing well." Daniel sighed with relief.

...

After they arrived home.

"That Mike got what he deserved!"

Lisa sat on the sofa, feeling good. "He used to boast about getting a job at a hygienic unit and mock us. Now look, he’s lost his job! Haha!"

"Although Mike has a foul mouth, he still has brains. I don’t think he would have offended someone he couldn't afford to." Lisa wondered, "Who do you think he offended, Noah?"

"He offended me, of course. I told James to fire him," Noah said while munching on an apple.

"You'll say anything to brag!"

Lisa gave Noah a disdainful look. "Boasting about the house being at Golden Summit Peak was enough, but you're still bragging!"
