Chapter 424 People Are Trying to Sleep

"Alright, Noah, I'll think about everything you said and come up with a plan ASAP."

Ethan nodded, his face serious. He felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. With Fox dead, the Murphy family would definitely target Ethan's faction, and a bloody conflict was inevitable. He couldn't even begin to estimate how many lives would be lost as a result.

"Let's call it a night. I'm beat. Can you take me home?"

Noah yawned and glanced at the time. It was almost 3 AM, and he was worried about leaving Lisa alone at home.

"Sure thing."

Ethan started the car and drove Noah to Oasis Villa. When Noah got home, he went to the bedroom and turned on the light, only to find the bed empty.

"Where's my wife?"

Noah's heart tightened. Could the Murphy family have already come for her? But the house was in order, with no signs of a struggle. This eased his tension slightly, but he was still worried about Lisa.

'At this hour, no one would break in. She must have gone to see someone. But who? Evelyn? Daniel?'

Noah's eyes darted around as he pulled out his phone and called Daniel. The phone rang for about ten seconds before Daniel's irritated voice answered.

"Who is it? Calling at this hour, don't you know people are trying to sleep?"

There was anger in his voice.

"It's me, Noah," Noah said calmly.

"Noah? You useless idiot! Are you crazy, calling me in the middle of the night?" Daniel paused, then shouted, "Don't you know I have a heart condition? Waking me up like this could give me a heart attack! Don't you have any sense?"

"Is my wife with you?"

Noah cut to the chase, not wanting to listen to Daniel's rant.

"Yeah, she's here, asleep already," Daniel sneered and hung up.

Hearing the disconnect tone, Noah felt relieved. As long as Lisa was safe, that was all that mattered. With that thought, he went to bed.

The next morning, warm sunlight streamed into a villa. Lisa slowly opened her eyes, which were red and bloodshot.

She had been distressed all night thinking about the impending divorce. With Noah not at home, she had no choice but to go to her father Daniel's place.

This villa belonged to Larry, who had started working for a real estate tycoon named Daryl in Oceanbridge City. Daryl was generous enough to let Larry live in the villa. Once there, Lisa was given a room to stay in.

'Two days, just two days until the divorce.'

The thought made Lisa's heart ache, and tears welled up in her eyes. 'Even if I don't want to, how could I ever be good enough for him? Mrs. Anderson found him a wife who's a noble lady, practically a princess. Compared to her, I'm nothing.'

'If I marry into the Anderson family, I'd only bring shame to them and be of no help to Noah's future.'

The more she thought about it, the more it hurt.

"Lisa, breakfast is ready."

Sarah's voice came from outside.

"Okay!"

Lisa quickly wiped away her tears and left the room. Breakfast was already on the table, consisting of simple dishes.

"Lisa, Larry just found a job, so things aren't like they used to be. We only have corn porridge for breakfast now, no bread or milk. Hope you don't mind," Sarah said, handing Lisa some utensils with a smile.

"It's fine, I don't mind." Lisa shook her head.

Daniel, wearing a golden robe, sat at the table. "Larry, where's my hand-ground coffee?"

"Dad, it's almost ready. Just a sec!"

Larry's voice came from the kitchen. Knowing Daniel liked hand-ground coffee, the first thing Larry did after moving into the villa was buy a coffee machine to make it for him every morning.

Soon, Larry brought a steaming cup of coffee to Daniel.

"Dad, drink it slowly. It's hot," Larry said with a smile.

Daniel nodded and took a sip. "Not bad, but still not as good as the coffee at the Hilton."

"Dad, once Larry makes more money, we'll get you better coffee beans, even better than the Hilton's!" Sarah said with a smile. "Larry is working with Daryl, a big shot in real estate. It's only a matter of time before he makes it big."

"Larry, keep it up! I have high hopes for you!" Daniel said. "You're so much better than that useless Noah! Do you know, that idiot called me in the middle of the night!"

"So rude! Doesn't he know I have a heart condition? What if I had a heart attack?"

The more he talked, the angrier Daniel got. "If only Noah had half of Larry's filial piety!"

"Dad, Noah called you?" Lisa's eyes lit up.

"Yeah, didn't expect you to care about him," Daniel said, glancing at Lisa. "That idiot called to ask where you were."

Lisa felt a warmth in her heart, surprised that Noah had called. But then sadness washed over her again. What did it matter? They were going to divorce soon anyway.

"Let's not talk about Noah at the breakfast table. It ruins the appetite. Have you seen the news lately?" Larry asked, sipping his porridge. "My idol, Rolls-Royce Guy, did a live broadcast exposing the Harris family's sweatshops and worker deaths. The whole family is now in police custody, and they're gathering evidence to take them to court."

"I think the Harris family is done for!"

"Of course I know!" Sarah's eyes sparkled with admiration. "This time, Rolls-Royce Guy did the live broadcast without any pixelation, right in front of the camera."

"Even with a mask and hood, he looked so handsome! But for some reason, he seemed familiar."

"You women always focus on whether a guy is handsome, never on the significant impact of the event," Larry said, shaking his head. "You watch his videos all the time—of course he looks familiar."

"Larry, from the way you talk, it sounds like you have some connection to Rolls-Royce Guy's live broadcast," Daniel said, his eyes narrowing.

"Of course!" Larry nodded, a proud look in his eyes. "With the Harris family out of the picture, there's a huge market gap, especially in Silverlight City's real estate sector. About 30% of the market is now up for grabs!"

"And my boss, Daryl, is a big player in real estate in Oceanbridge City. He's very competitive in Silverlight City. He told us in a meeting yesterday that in two days, he's going to take over the 30% market share left by the Harris family!"
