Chapter 290 Expelling Larry
Daniel slammed his hand on the table, his eyes blazing with anger.
"Noah, you seriously have the nerve to say you haven't wronged us? Have some decency!"
"I'm your father-in-law, and not long ago, you drove me to the hospital, forced me to kneel, and humiliated me in front of our relatives. Didn't you do all that?"
"Do you think you treated me fairly?"
Seeing Daniel so upset, Larry quickly tried to calm him down.
"Alright, Dad, don't argue with Noah. It's not worth getting worked up over someone like him. You know him. Is he really worth your anger?"
"Besides, you're already living in our mansion now. None of that will happen again."
"Larry, you're right!" Daniel nodded, calming down. "Now that I'm living in your mansion, I don't have to put up with Noah's nonsense anymore."
"Noah, let me show you something."
Larry pulled out his phone and opened Facebook, showing a chat with a contact named Atlas.
"This Atlas is the director of 'I Am a Super Rich,'" Larry began.
"Last night, Atlas and the major sponsors of 'I Am a Super Rich' had a celebration dinner. They unanimously decided to groom me into a star!"
"Atlas even shared the news with me on Facebook. Did you see the message, Noah?"
"I saw it. So what?" Noah glanced at Larry's phone screen and then looked away.
Larry's face lit up with pride. "Do you know what this means? It means I've been recognized by the director of 'I Am a Super Rich,' and in the future, I'll definitely become a star, adored by countless fans!"
"So, Noah, since we're family, today is really your last chance," Sarah chimed in.
"You don't have to kneel. Just apologize to us and let us record it. That way, you can clear your name."
"I don't want Larry to become a star and then have the paparazzi find out we have a useless son-in-law, causing scandals."
"Sarah's right," Daniel added. "Noah, you need to understand that we're asking you to apologize not to clear your name, but for the reputation of the Wilson family and for Larry's future as a star. Don't flatter yourself into thinking we're here because of you."
"Exactly, Noah. If you have any sense, I suggest you apologize now," Sarah continued.
"When Larry becomes a star, he might even help you out. But if you don't apologize, your reputation will get even worse, and everyone will look down on you."
"Noah, apologize now!" Larry held up his phone, ready to record Noah's apology.
"Three lunatics!" Noah rolled his eyes in disdain and continued eating his breakfast, not bothering to respond.
"Noah, did you just call me a lunatic?" Daniel's hair practically stood on end with rage. This was the first time Noah had insulted him in front of Larry and Sarah.
How could he, as an elder, maintain his dignity?
"Noah, what did you say?" Sarah's face turned icy, anger flashing in her eyes.
"Noah, watch your language!" Larry frowned.
Suddenly, a notification sound came from Larry's phone.
"It's a message from Atlas on Facebook!" Larry's eyes lit up. "Could it be about my future as a star?"
Daniel and Sarah also looked at Larry with anticipation.
Larry switched back to Facebook, full of excitement.
But when he saw the message, he was stunned, frozen in place.
"How could this be?" Larry's face was filled with disbelief.
"Larry, what's going on? Did Atlas say he's giving you more resources to work with?" Sarah asked eagerly, seeing Larry's shocked expression.
"Yeah, Larry, tell us what Atlas said," Daniel urged.
"Atlas said I've been kicked out of the 'I Am a Super Rich' program and that I have to return that ten million dollars."
Larry's eyes were vacant, and he mumbled, feeling all his strength drain away at that moment.
It was as if he had been struck by lightning.
Larry's phone slipped from his hand and shattered on the floor.
"What? Kicked out?" Daniel and Sarah were both dumbfounded.
"How is that possible? Why?" Sarah muttered in disbelief. "Larry, your episode of 'I Am a Super Rich' had the highest ratings in its time slot and even trended on Twitter. Millions of viewers were following you."
"You were making money for the show and the sponsors. Why would they kick you out?"
"Exactly!" Daniel added. "The show's decision makes no sense. It's a lose-lose situation!"
"I don't know why either." Larry shook his head, his heart pounding with a sense of dread. Could it be that the show found out about his loan sharking?
"Dad, Sarah, let's go home and discuss this. We can't let Noah see us like this."
Larry picked up his phone and stood up.
"Alright! We'll discuss it at home. We can't let Noah, that loser, laugh at us!"
The three of them headed out the door.
Once home, Larry locked himself in his room and called Atlas.
When the call connected, Larry forced a smile and asked cautiously. "Atlas, I don't think I've done anything wrong, and the ratings for 'I Am a Super Rich' were high. Why did you kick me out?"
"Why? Do you really have the nerve to ask why?" Atlas's voice was filled with barely contained anger.
"Larry, tell me honestly, did you take three hundred thousand dollars of the million we gave you and use it for loan sharking? And did you lie about the price of the mansion, pocketing an extra three hundred thousand? Did you really think you could hide that?"
"Three hundred thousand? Loan sharking?" Larry decided to play dumb, pretending he didn't know what Atlas was talking about. "Atlas, what are you talking about?"
"Larry, are you still pretending with me at this point?" Atlas's voice rose, filled with fury.
"Do I need to get the records from Jack and put them in front of you before you'll admit you took three hundred thousand dollars for loan sharking?"
Hearing this, Larry couldn't keep up the act any longer. It was as if he had been struck by lightning, his face turning ashen.
He felt weak all over, collapsing to the floor, his face devoid of any color.
How could this be? How did Atlas find out about Jack?
