Chapter 248 Hailey
Noah gave Sydney a once-over. She was sweet and cute, with a great figure and a pretty face—ideal for a live streamer.
"So, Mr. Anderson, what do you think of her?" the HR manager asked Noah. "Is she worth investing in?"
"She looks good," Noah nodded, "Show me your talent."
"Absolutely!" Sydney's eyes lit up, and she started dancing in front of Noah.
Her dance was fiery and sexy, even making Noah, who prided himself on his self-control, feel a bit stirred.
After five minutes, Sydney finished her dance and politely bowed to the two of them.
"How do you like it, Mr. Anderson?" the HR manager asked.
"She's good," Noah nodded. Sydney was sweet and talented, definitely worth investing in.
"Great, Sydney, head to the office next door to sign the contract. You'll be one of our featured streamers on Facebook Live!" the HR manager turned to Sydney and said.
Sydney's eyes sparkled, and she quickly bowed again, "Thank you so much!"
With that, she left the office.
"Next!" the HR manager called out.
A girl in her twenties walked in. "Hello, everyone!"
After about two hours, Noah had interviewed over a hundred girls, with only seven or eight making the cut to sign with Facebook Live.
This star-making project had high standards for streamers—they had to be good-looking, polite, and talented.
Noah rubbed his temples, feeling a bit tired, and was about to leave when another candidate walked in.
Noah was taken aback. "You must be in the wrong place."
A woman in her fifties stood before him, with dark skin, a face full of wrinkles, and a mouth of yellow teeth. She wore a red low-cut dress and stockings, which might have looked sexy on a younger woman but seemed out of place on her, even repulsive.
"No, I'm in the right place!" The woman quickly waved her hand and bowed to Noah. "Hello, everyone. My name is Hailey, and I'm here to audition as a streamer."
Despite being in her fifties, her voice sounded surprisingly young.
"The star-making project started with open auditions, and everyone here passed the initial selection," Noah said, looking at the HR manager. "I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm curious how a woman in her fifties made it through. Can you explain?"
The HR manager smiled apologetically. "Mr. Anderson, you might not know her, but Hailey has been quite popular online recently."
"Oh? Tell me in detail," Noah was surprised.
"Here's the story," the HR manager began, "Hailey used to stream on Douyu. Her content was mostly singing and chatting, and she would cover her face with a picture, streaming with only her voice."
"And then?" Noah's eyes flickered with interest. There had to be a reason why this woman left Douyu for Facebook Live.
"Hailey gained a lot of fans just with her voice. Her streaming skills were impressive—one fan even gifted her nearly $200,000 in a month!" the HR manager continued.
"That's impressive," Noah said, glancing at Hailey. Earning that much just with her voice was no small feat.
The HR manager then explained, "But then something unexpected happened. During a streamer competition, due to a technical glitch, the picture covering her face disappeared, and millions of viewers saw her real appearance."
Noah was stunned. He could imagine the scene—viewers who idolized her as a goddess suddenly seeing a woman in her fifties on their screens. It must have been disappointing.
"The incident caused a huge uproar, not just in the streaming community but also in the news and on Twitter," the HR manager went on. "Fans who had gifted her were furious, calling her a fraud. The fan who gave her $200,000 even logged out his Douyu account. Douyu couldn't handle the backlash and permanently banned Hailey's account, effectively ending her streaming career."
"Your story is quite dramatic," Noah said, looking at Hailey.
"The judge hasn't mentioned everything," Hailey smiled, "After Douyu banned me, I had to pay a hefty fine. I'm too old to do much else, so I came to Facebook Live, hoping to continue streaming."
"Mr. Anderson, do you think Hailey could join our platform?" the HR manager asked Noah.
"She has experience and can engage with viewers," Noah said, "But she did deceive fans before."
"I didn't deceive anyone!" Hailey protested. "They liked my voice and chose to gift me. I didn't force them! It was mutual."
Noah shook his head, speechless.
"Mr. Anderson, there's a lot of buzz about Hailey in the streaming world. After Douyu banned her, many people are curious about her next move. Videos and posts about her get millions of views, just like top streamers. She brings her own audience," Hazel, the supervisor, added, "I suggest we take her in the Facebook Live. If we announce it, it will definitely create a stir and attract a lot of users to our platform."
Noah thought for a moment. "Bringing her on board isn't out of the question."
Hailey's eyes lit up.
"But there are conditions," Noah added.
"Whatever the conditions, just tell me!" Hailey said eagerly. She had been trying to join other streaming platforms but found the smaller ones unappealing and the bigger ones uninterested in her.
As a result, Hailey held a certain anticipation and applied to Facebook Live's star-making project.
Given ten Facebook Live had recently developed rapidly in the streaming world, and many top streamers job-hopped here for a higher development.
"The condition is, since you've already shown your real face to the audience, you should continue to stream with your face visible," Noah said with a smile.
"Well..." Hailey hesitated.
