Chapter 265 The Heartless Rich
"Dad, you can stay in this villa as long as you want!"
Larry grinned and said, "I bought this place just for you! And don't worry, I'd never kick you out like Noah did!"
"Good," Daniel nodded, clearly pleased with Larry's behavior.
"Larry is so respectful!"
"Yeah, compared to Noah, Larry's a saint."
"I heard Daniel almost got kicked out by that loser Noah recently!"
"Not just that, he was so stressed by Noah that he ended up in the hospital several times!"
The relatives whispered among themselves.
"From what Noah said earlier, his wife Lisa makes way more than our entire family combined," Jake said. "But so what? If you have no character and don't respect your elders, even if you're rich, I still look down on you!"
"Exactly, money isn't everything; character is key!"
"Noah is the type who has money but no character!"
"You're wrong. Noah doesn't have money. He's just a loser who got lucky with a good wife!"
The relatives continued their gossip.
"Alright, alright, most of our friends and family are here. Let's go inside and talk! The food is already on the table!" Larry called out.
Everyone entered the villa.
Inside, there were four round tables, each covered with a variety of delicious dishes.
The sight and smell of the food made the relatives' mouths water.
"Don't be shy, everyone. Take a seat and enjoy the meal. I hired a top chef to prepare these dishes, so you're in for a treat!" Larry said with a smile.
"Larry is so generous!"
"When Noah had his housewarming, there was only one table! And it was Lisa who cooked. It can't compare to Larry's lavish feast!"
"So what if Lisa makes a lot of money? She's still stingy with her relatives!"
"Yeah! Larry is the generous one!"
The relatives praised Larry as they took their seats.
Daniel's family naturally sat at one table, with the extra seats taken by George, Jasmine, Jake, and others.
"Larry, now that you've bought this villa, it can't just be me living here," Daniel said, taking a sip of red wine. "You're living in Summit Retreat Oasis now, which means you're wealthy. But having money isn't enough; you need to have a generous heart. If someone wants to borrow this villa for a few days, you should agree. Don't be like Noah, who is rich but heartless."
"Dad, you're right!" Larry replied.
"Daniel, how exactly is Noah heartless?" Jake asked curiously.
"Ah, you don't know the half of it!" Daniel sighed, glancing at George. "A few days ago, George came to the city from our hometown and wanted to stay at Noah's villa for a few days."
"I couldn't believe it when Noah, that ungrateful brat, actually beat George up and threw him out!"
"What? He did that?"
Everyone was stunned, not expecting Noah to be so bold as to hit an elder.
"Noah, how could you do such a thing?" Jake glared at Noah. "Do you realize how terrible your actions are? That's elder abuse!"
"Oh, and then what?" Noah rolled his eyes, not bothering to respond to Jake.
"You have the nerve to ask 'and then what'!"
Jake was fuming, turning to Daniel. "Daniel, you're the head of the family. You need to deal with this loser!"
"Deal with him? How could I possibly control him?" Daniel lamented. "Now that he's living in a villa, he's become arrogant and doesn't listen to me anymore. I can't control him."
"And from now on, I won't bother with him. I'm moving to Larry's villa. I've had enough of living with Noah. Just seeing him gives me a headache!"
"By the way, Larry, George, and Jasmine have been staying in my old place, and you know the environment there isn't great," Daniel continued. "Since you bought this villa, let George and Jasmine stay here for a while."
"Dad, that's no problem. We have plenty of empty rooms here! They can stay as long as they want!" Larry said generously.
"Larry, thank you!" George's eyes lit up.
"Thank you, Larry!" Jasmine beamed, casting a sidelong glance at Noah. Even if I don't stay in your villa, I still have a place to stay!
And this villa is actually bought by Larry, with a real property deed.
Your villa, on the other hand, is just company-provided. Who knows when you might get kicked out!
"Larry is so generous!"
"He's on a whole different level from Noah!"
"Yeah, the difference in character is huge!"
The relatives looked at Noah with mocking eyes.
"Alright, alright, let's not talk about Noah. Let's eat and not let someone like him ruin our mood," Sarah said, smiling.
"Yeah, let's eat!"
"Forget about that loser!"
"Larry, have a drink with me!"
Everyone started eating.
"Luna, you've been back in the country for a while now. Have you been looking for a job?" Jake asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"No, I've just been at home lately," Luna shook her head.
"At home? That's not good. You can't be like Noah!" Jake frowned.
"Jake, how can you compare my daughter to that loser Noah!" Zoe said indignantly. "Luna is an overseas returnee. Even if she's at home, she can still make money!"
"Make money at home? How?" Jake was curious.
"It's the internet age. Many jobs don't require you to leave the house," Zoe smiled. "Luna has been working as a streamer recently."
"A streamer?" Jake, being older, hadn't heard of this job. "What's that?"
"Jake, a streamer is someone who does live broadcasts online, singing, chatting, and earning money through fan donations," Larry explained. "It's a new kind of job."
"That sounds stressful. The competition must be fierce if it's that easy to make money," Jake said thoughtfully.
"You're right. On a big streaming platform, there are tens of thousands of streamers, but only a tiny fraction can actually make a living from it," Zoe said. "But Luna is talented and beautiful. She just started streaming and already received a $100,000 gift from a wealthy fan!"
