Chapter 41 Fearless When Walking Barefoot

"Evelyn, you're out!" Lisa was very happy.

"Do you know? I was so worried about you! By the way, how did you get out? Tell me everything," Lisa said.

"It was all thanks to Joshua. His family sent ten million dollars just in time. I saw a whole box of money when I was being released. They let me go once they got the money," Evelyn explained.

"Ten million dollars?!"

Lisa was stunned. It was a number that she couldn't even imagine.

"Joshua's family is really rich. It's late, and the banks are already closed, but they could still produce ten million dollars?" Lisa expressed her surprise, but she wasn’t envious.

She felt that her own life was pretty good right now. She was in a rising position at work, had a car, and a loving husband.

"Yeah!" Evelyn nodded. "I think only a few people in Oceanbridge City can gather ten million dollars in cash in a short period of time. Now I'm thinking about reconsidering my relationship with Joshua."

"Evelyn, are you thinking about marrying him?" Lisa asked unexpectedly. She knew that Evelyn had always been an advocate of being single.

"I should think about it. If I marry him, I’ll be married into a wealthy family, which has been my dream for many years. Charles' money will eventually belong to Joshua. After we get married, it will naturally be my money too!" Evelyn's tone changed again. "But the incident tonight is all Joshua's fault. If he hadn't said all those things, this wouldn't have happened. I'm going to ignore him for a while as punishment! Hmph!"

Lisa could only smile helplessly on the other end of the phone.

"Alright, Lisa, enough talking. It's cold outside. I'll go home and take a hot bath," Evelyn said before hanging up. She hailed a car and headed home.

...

Emperor's Bar, sixth floor.

"Noah, Mason, Evelyn has been released." Lucas entered the room and said respectfully, his neck tattoo visible.

"Now that this is settled, I'm going home to be with my wife." Noah stood up.

"Noah, if you encounter any trouble, feel free to contact me anytime!" Mason stood up to see Noah off.

When Noah arrived home, he noticed that Lisa hadn't come back yet, which worried him. He was about to go to Pinnacle Wealth Management to find Lisa when he heard the sound of keys opening the door. Lisa had returned.

"Phew..." Lisa entered the house and let out a long breath. "Darling, Evelyn has been released. Joshua really helped us this time."

"Oh? Tell me more." Noah smiled.

"The person who kidnapped Joshua suddenly increased the ransom from one million to ten million. Charles promptly paid the ten million ransom, and they were released." Lisa sighed. " Joshua's family is really wealthy to be able to afford ten million in cash. Although his character isn't great, he did help us in resolving the issues with Pinnacle Wealth Management and the kidnapping. Evelyn is thinking about marrying him."

Noah nodded without saying anything.

"Darling, why haven't you eaten the food on the table?" Lisa looked at the table and saw that the dishes were practically untouched, just like when she left.

"I was waiting for you so we could eat together." Noah reached out and pulled Lisa to sit down.

"Darling, you waited in the house for such a long time. Weren't you afraid of getting hungry?" Lisa said with some annoyance, but she was still very happy. "I'll go heat up the food. Let's continue our meal."

...

The next day, Lisa went to work and Noah went to the supermarket to buy some steak. He cooked a portion of steak and took it to the Royal Hospital.

Although it was not expensive, it was beneficial for Heather's recovery from her broken bones.

After Daniel had hit Heather, he showed no intention of visiting her. Since Noah had a responsible personality, he naturally had to clean up after his father-in-law.

"You're here again, Noah!" Heather smiled when she saw Noah. The more she looked at him, the more she liked him. He was responsible and humble.

Noah nodded and placed the steak by the bedside, instructing Heather to eat it while it was hot.

Ethan was also a very filial grandson. He had been staying by the hospital these past few days and was currently sleeping with his head on the table. As soon as he smelled the aroma of steak, he woke up.

He looked at the steak and drooled. "It smells so good!"

"This is your grandma's, not yours," Noah rebuked him.

"I know, I'll go downstairs and buy breakfast," Ethan muttered as he went downstairs.

Not long after Ethan left, Noah's phone rang.

"Hello, Noah," Mason's voice came through. "This morning, Aiden delivered two boxes of money to me, totaling 20 million dollars."

"Was Joshua released?" Noah asked.

"Yes, Charles' secretary brought another 10 million dollars in the last ten minutes, saving Joshua's life. We were almost about to throw him in the river," Mason said.

"I didn't expect Charles to be so wealthy. It's impressive that he managed to raise 20 million dollars in such a short time," Noah replied, somewhat surprised.

That 20 million dollars wasn’t much to Noah, but the fact that Charles could raise it in such a short time showed his financial power.

"Charles is a real estate tycoon in Oceanbridge City. He made a name for himself during the real estate boom, and raising 20 million dollars in cash is not difficult for him," Mason laughed.

"Aiden is responsible too. He sent the money to me the next day. Where do you live, Noah? I'll have Lucas deliver the money to your house," Mason offered.

"I'm not home right now. I'm at the Royal Hospital. Just have him deliver it here," Noah replied nonchalantly.

"Alright!"

Mason's mentality was the same as Aiden's.

Whether or not Noah wanted the money was his own business.

But whether or not Mason would give it to him was his own business.

Mason, who had been through ups and downs on the streets for so many years, naturally understood the rules. He was in his current position because of Noah. Noah could replace him at any time. Therefore, he had to give the money to Noah.

Ethan came upstairs after buying breakfast.

"Those two thugs were chasing after you that day, claiming you cheated them. Did you really cheat them?" Noah looked at Ethan and casually changed the topic.

"I did," Ethan admitted without hiding anything. "My grandma has bad lungs and often coughs. She urgently needed medicine to save her life. Gambling was the only way to get quick money, and cheating Liam was the only way to win at Liam's place.

"I won 5,000 dollars that day and used it to buy medicine for my grandma."

Noah nodded. When he first saw Heather, she was constantly coughing, so her lungs were indeed bad.

"You went gambling again, Ethan?"

Heather's face changed and she kept coughing. "Cough, cough, cough. Liam is the ruler of our poor district. If you cheat him, he won't let you off easily. Didn’t you learned your lesson three years ago? We can't beat him!"

"Hmph, I'm not afraid of him. I can take him on!"

Ethan's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly drew a sharp dagger from his waist.

"Come on, let's settle this once and for all, even if it means fighting to the death. I won't lose anything by taking one with me!"

"Cough cough cough! I can’t believe you have a knife on you, Ethan! If you really hurt someone, you'll end up in jail... cough cough cough!" Heather exclaimed worriedly, coughing continuously.
