Chapter 30 Get me Another One
Daniel said to Lisa, "Lisa, I divorced your mother when you were young. Raising you wasn't easy, and we went through a lot of hardships. Now that I'm old, I should be enjoying my life. But I'm burdened with a wasteful son-in-law, which is really worrying!
"I'm already old and don't have many wishes left. Just one, I wanna own a Mercedes. This is the dream of my youth!"
At this point, Lisa finally understood Daniel's intention. He wanted their Mercedes.
She sighed, "Dad, the car wasn't bought by me. It was Noah."
Lisa was conflicted. "If it were mine, I would definitely give it to you without a second thought!"
"Come on, Lisa. There are only two of us here now. You don't have to lie to me!"
Daniel frowned. "That lazy Noah does nothing all day long. How could he afford a Mercedes? Don't fool me. You'll give me the car or not?"
After a pause, he continued earnestly, "Besides, the cost of maintaining a car isn't a small amount. Fuel, maintenance, and fines for traffic violations. All those cost money. With your not-so-high salary and having to support Noah, and now the car, your life stress will be immense!"
Lisa nodded in agreement, thinking that Daniel was right. Since having the car, fuel costs alone had burned through dozens of bucks, and all the miscellaneous costs could amount to a couple of hundred a month.
"I'd say, give the car to me. My pension is ample to support a Mercedes! Better for you to save money just taking the bus to work as usual. For one, it saves money. One wastrel is already troublesome enough. Adding a car to that? I'm afraid you won't be able to afford your meals!
"Besides, I'm your dad, you know?"
After thinking for a while, Lisa said, "Dad, no matter what, I still need to ask Noah about this. I can't decide alone."
Actually, she didn't care much if she had a car.
But Noah was the one who bought the car. Even as a couple, she had to seek her husband's consent.
"Hey, honey, I need to talk to you about something..."
Lisa called Noah and recounted the issue to him.
After hearing it, Noah immediately agreed to give the car to Daniel.
Lisa was surprised as Noah's response was too decisive. She couldn't help wondering. 'Is a Mercedes just like a toy to him? He just gave it away like that?'
Anyway, Lisa put down her phone and said to Daniel, "Dad, Noah has agreed."
"That's good then!" Daniel smiled but sighed in his heart, thinking that Lisa sided too much with Noah.
He didn't think Noah could possibly afford a Mercedes. He thought Lisa's call to Noah was just a show in front of him, to maintain Noah's dignity at home.
Daniel even doubted whether the call had been made at all, suspecting the conversation Lisa had was just for him to hear.
"Dad, here are the car keys." Lisa took the car keys out of her purse and handed them to Daniel.
"Thank you, my sweetie! Finally, I got a Mercedes now!"
Daniel was overjoyed after taking the keys.
"Dad, you should thank Noah," Lisa said.
"Sure. Sure. I should thank Noah," Daniel said dismissively as he opened the car door and started the vehicle.
"Dad, won't you stay for dinner?" Lisa asked.
"No need for that. I came for the car. Now that I have it, I'm going back," Daniel replied cheerily and then drove out of the residential area.
Lisa, feeling helpless, went upstairs. Now, she only hoped Noah wouldn't be upset about this.
When Lisa opened the door, she found Noah sitting on the sofa eating an apple.
"Honey, the car's been taken by my dad."
Lisa hesitated a moment and then continued, "Please don't be angry. You know, he hardly asks for anything. I really felt it hard to refuse him when he finally said he wanted something. So I called you..."
"It's all right. It's just a car," Noah said casually as he ate the apple, not concerned at all.
Lisa shook her head lightly. The more Noah seemed calm, the more she felt sorry for him.
She knew it wasn't right to give the car to Daniel just out of filial piety.
After all, the car was pricey, and it was Noah's purchase.
"Honey, let's start dinner. I'm starving. I've already eaten two apples," Noah said.
"Okay!" Lisa went to the kitchen.
After dinner, Noah told Lisa that he wanted to go out for a walk and went downstairs.
He pedaled his rusty second-hand bicycle straight to the Mercedes dealership.
"Look! That rich guy is here again!" A salesperson secretly pointed at Noah.
Inside the 4S shop, a group of salespeople saw Noah coming along, wobbling on a bicycle.
"This guy can be a really excellent actor. He has the cash to buy a car outright and yet rides a bicycle!" a saleswoman remarked.
"Yeah! I've never seen such a pretentious person!"
The salespeople all showed disdainful looks.
But it wasn't Noah's intention to show off. He had to ride the bicycle over because he'd given the car to Daniel!
When Noah parked the bike, the salespeople immediately put on warm smiles and approached him.
"Good afternoon, sir. Welcome to Mercedes-Benz. How can I help you?" a salesman asked with a warm smile.
"Do you still have the Mercedes E350L? Bring me another one. I'll pay in full." Noah took out his card and stated his request.
"We do... We do have one!"
All the salespeople were astounded.
After all, it'd only been a few days since he bought his last Mercedes here!

An hour later, Noah drove off from the 4S shop, with the bicycle partially stuffed into the trunk of his new car.
"Holy crap! I bet he must be somebody!" one salesman stated after Noah left.
"He bought two Mercedes in less than a week. Way too cool!"
The salespeople were astonished as they had never experienced such a thing before.
After getting home, Noah parked the car at the former spot downstairs and then went upstairs.
The next morning, seeing that Lisa was about to go to work, Noah handed over the keys to the new car.
"Honey, take the keys. I can't bear to see you take the bus to work."
"Keys?" Seeing the Mercedes car keys, Lisa was slightly stunned.
"Honey, you didn't go to my dad's place last night and steal the car back, did you? If my dad finds out, he'll be furious!" she said.
"How could I? It's a new car. I bought another one," Noah said.
"Another one?"
Lisa stood dumbfounded, thinking, 'It's only been a few days, and he bought another one?'
Noah took Lisa downstairs and showed her another brand-new Mercedes.
Finally, she couldn't help asking, "Honey, exactly how many secret savings do you have? With the money you've spent recently, we could've bought a small apartment in Oceanbridge City!"
"Not that much. Plus, it's my dad's money," Noah said with a grin.
Lisa shook her head resignedly. Since Noah didn't wanna give a direct answer, she didn't wanna press further either.
After Lisa drove to her workplace, Noah, as usual, took a taxi to work.
On the way, Noah got a call from Robert at Royalty Hospital.
On the phone, Robert said, "Noah, according to the contract, MedicaVibe Ventures' medical equipment will officially enter Royalty Hospital today. I've already taken care of all the procedures, and Michael has also been notified."
"Good." Noah nodded.
"It's my honor to work for you, Mr. Anderson. By the way, the batch of medical equipment is worth 800 thousand dollars. Should I transfer this sum to MedicaVibe Ventures' company account now?" Robert asked.
"No hurry. Wait for my instruction," Noah replied.
