Chapter 258: Sofia
Noah took the invitation and opened it. The message read: [The Garcia Family Housewarming. Friends and family are welcome. Larry.]
"Alright, I'll be there," Noah said casually, setting the invitation aside.
When Noah had moved into his new place, Larry and Sarah had come to help, so it was only polite for Noah to attend their event.
"Noah, our new house is just five or six hundred yards from yours. We're moving Dad in with us," Sarah said.
"Dad hasn't had a good time living with you. You've been giving him a hard time every day. Once we move into our new house, that won't happen anymore."
"That's good," Noah said with a genuine smile. He was happy that Daniel would be moving to Larry's house.
"Noah, aren't you curious how I suddenly got so rich that I could afford a villa in Summit Retreat Oasis?" Larry asked, staring at Noah in surprise.
When he came over, Larry had expected Noah to be shocked and confused upon learning that he had bought a villa in Summit Retreat Oasis. But Noah was too calm, as if it was no big deal.
Larry felt a bit disappointed that the reaction he had imagined didn't happen.
"So what? Why should I be curious?" Noah said indifferently.
Sarah snorted, "You say you're not curious, but I bet you are! Let me tell you, our villa may be second-hand and not as big as yours, but it still cost a few million dollars!"
"The key difference is, your villa was provided by Lisa's company. Our villa, we bought it ourselves. We have the property deed in hand, and we paid in full. That's the difference, got it?"
Sarah's face was full of pride.
For a while, Sarah had been frustrated that Noah's family lived in Summit Retreat Oasis. It made her feel inferior, and even their father, Daniel, seemed to prefer staying with Noah.
But now that she also lived in Summit Retreat Oasis, all her frustration vanished, and she felt vindicated.
"And then?" Noah glanced at Sarah, treating her words like they were nothing.
"Now we have money too. We bought a villa and a luxury car," Sarah pointed outside.
"See that BMW 730? It cost over a hundred thousand dollars! It's a whole class above your Mercedes E350L! Noah, are you jealous?"
"If you have nothing else to say, please leave. I'm very busy," Noah said, frowning with impatience. Sarah was talking too much.
"Feeling upset that we bought a villa? Kicking us out already?" Sarah laughed, linking arms with Larry.
"Let's go, honey. No need to waste time with this unemployed bum. This villa was just given to Lisa by her company. He lives here and thinks he's a big shot. But in reality, he's still a loser!"
"He's probably jealous of us!"
With that, the two of them strutted out of the villa, heads held high.
They got into their car, where a man with glasses and a press badge around his neck was sitting in the back seat.
"Mr. Garcia, what was your relative's reaction when he found out you bought a villa and a luxury car?" the man asked, pulling out a notebook to take notes.
Next to him, a camera was set up on a tripod, ready to record.
"Haha, Sofia, his reaction was priceless," Larry said, chuckling. "He's always been a proud guy who loves to show off. But he's also unemployed."
"Just now, he was totally shocked and confused, probably wondering where I got the money to buy a villa."
"Even though he had those thoughts, he tried so hard to keep a straight face and act calm."
"If I didn't know Noah so well, I might have been fooled by his calm demeanor! The more he pretended to be calm, the more I knew he was freaking out inside. He had the same reaction when he saw the new car. It's hilarious."
Larry laughed heartily, clearly pleased with himself.
"Today, we finally got our revenge." Sarah chimed in, "When we first moved into the villa, you wouldn't believe how arrogant and unreasonable Noah was. He even forced his father-in-law to kneel!"
"What? Forcing his father-in-law to kneel? That's outrageous!" Sofia's face changed, shocked.
"Yes, it's outrageous!" Sarah nodded. "Not only that, he repeatedly made my dad so angry that he ended up in the hospital. Once, he was in the ICU, and the doctors issued a critical condition notice! It was a miracle he survived."
"Your brother-in-law is really unfilial!" Sofia remarked. "I can't believe there are people like that in the world. He doesn't work, just lazes around, and on top of that, he's unfilial and makes his elders sick."
Sofia wrote in her notebook:
[Mr. Garcia received a million dollars, sold his original villa, and used the money to buy a villa in Summit Retreat Oasis in Oceanbridge City, along with a BMW 730.]
[He did this to teach his useless brother-in-law Noah a lesson.]
"Honey, let's go," Sarah said. "Today is just the beginning. On the day of the housewarming, I'll invite all our relatives and publicly teach Noah a lesson about respecting elders."
Watching the BMW drive away, Noah turned his attention back to figuring out how to secure a logistics partnership with the Winchester family.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
Noah answered the call.
"Is this Noah?" a girl's pleasant voice came from the other end.
"Yeah, it's me," Noah replied, finding the voice somewhat familiar.
"This is Anna," the girl said.
Noah was surprised. How did Anna get his number?
"Um, Noah, I got your contact information from Lily," Anna explained, sensing Noah's confusion.
