Chapter 432 Earning Millions a Year
"Noah."
Jade picked up the phone with a slight smile. It had been almost fifteen years since she'd spoken with Noah, and though her heart raced with excitement and longing, her voice betrayed none of it.
"You're the one who pushed Lisa to divorce me, aren't you?" Noah's calm voice came through directly.
Jade was momentarily taken aback. His voice felt unfamiliar, and he hadn't even called her "Mom." A pang of disappointment shot through her.
"Yes, it was me," Jade admitted. "That Lisa is just an ordinary girl. She's not worthy of you or the Anderson family. At least she knew her place and didn't fight me on it—she went straight to you about the divorce."
"I assume you're calling because you've come to your senses and agreed to the divorce," she continued. "I should tell you, the family has found someone much better for you—a royal princess. Her looks, family background, and upbringing are far superior to Lisa's. You'll like her. If you two marry, our family will—"
"I haven't come to my senses," Noah cut her off. "I'm not divorcing Lisa."
Jade paused, her brow furrowing. "Why not?"
"Because I love her," Noah replied simply.
"Love?" Jade laughed softly. "You've just been with her for a while and developed some feelings. That's not love. After the divorce, you'll find a woman ten times better than Lisa. Why wouldn't you want that?"
"I don't care what you say. I'm not divorcing her," Noah's voice was firm.
With that, he hung up.
"This child—why won't he listen?" Jade stared at the phone, her face flushed with anger.
Meanwhile, in the car, Noah set down his phone, deep in thought. He hadn't expected his mother to come to Silverlight City and orchestrate so much behind the scenes—destroying the Harris family, forcing Lisa to divorce him.
Noah hadn't seen Jade in over a decade. When he'd answered the call, he'd wanted to call her "Mom," but the word had caught in his throat, feeling foreign. After so many years apart, even that simple word felt strange to him.
Still, hearing Jade's voice had stirred something familiar and intimate inside him.
As for Lisa, Noah had figured it out. Since she was being forced into the divorce against her true wishes, he certainly wouldn't agree to it. His earlier despair instantly lifted. He just needed to talk things through with Lisa tomorrow.
Suddenly, his WhatsApp chimed. It was a message from Ethan.
[One of our Respect Noah Pavilion guys just reported that Lisa was at Luxury Bar too, with some guy wearing glasses. The guy tried to get her to drink, but got kicked out. Lisa just left alone in a taxi.]
'A guy with glasses,' Noah thought, immediately guessing that Tyrell had accompanied Lisa to Luxury Bar.
'But why did Lisa end up leaving alone?'
Noah rubbed his chin thoughtfully, a warm feeling spreading through his chest.
"Got it, thanks," he replied to Ethan.
Soon after, they arrived at the hotel. With his mind at ease, Noah fell asleep immediately.
...
The next morning, Noah was awakened by his phone. It was Daniel.
"I gave you a night to think it over. Have you made up your mind? Where are you? I'll bring Lisa to meet you," Daniel said impatiently.
"Hilton Hotel. Come over," Noah replied.
About half an hour later, there was a knock at the door.
When Noah opened it, Daniel, Larry, Sarah, and of course, Lisa, were standing outside.
"Honey!" Noah's eyes lit up at the sight of Lisa, and he moved toward her.
"Watch yourself!" Daniel stepped between them, glaring at Noah. "She's not your 'honey'! You're getting divorced. If you lay a hand on Lisa, I'll call the police!"
Lisa stared at Noah with wide eyes, then glanced at the hotel room behind him, biting her lip without saying anything. Although she'd decided to remain single after the divorce, the thought of Noah spending the night with another woman in a hotel room still bothered her.
"Noah, Lisa is my fiancée. I suggest you mind your manners," came a sneering voice as a man with glasses approached. It was Tyrell, his mouth bruised and injured.
"What are you doing here?" Lisa frowned when she saw him. "I told you last night we can't be together. Why did you come?"
"Lisa, I really love you. Please give me a chance," Tyrell gazed at her tenderly. "Plus, I have good news for everyone—I got promoted."
"Promoted?" Daniel, Larry, and Sarah perked up.
"Last night, my boss Dary Fields told me he's putting me in charge of twenty percent of his Silverlight City real estate holdings," Tyrell announced proudly.
"Twenty percent!" Larry's eyes widened with envy. "Fields only controls about thirty percent of Silverlight City's real estate market, and he's giving you two-thirds of that? He must really trust you!"
"This is a massive step up—you'll be making millions a year! When you take over, don't forget to help me out," Larry added with a fawning smile.
"Don't worry, Larry. As I climb, you'll climb too. I'm grateful you introduced me to Lisa! After we're married, we'll be family, and family takes care of each other," Tyrell laughed.
Hearing this, Larry's eyes gleamed with excitement, as if seeing a bright future beckoning him.
"Millions a year..." Daniel looked at Tyrell with new appreciation, his heart soaring. He'd initially thought Tyrell was a bit old for Lisa, but with this income? Perfect match. Having a multi-millionaire son-in-law would certainly give him bragging rights among relatives.
"Lisa, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and divorce Noah so you can marry Tyrell!" Daniel urged.
"I'll divorce, but marriage is off the table," Lisa replied, glancing at Noah before continuing firmly. "I decided last night that after the divorce, I won't marry again—ever."
