Chapter 380 Let It Slide
Rhett's expression shifted as he realized just how strong Noah was. Six security guards didn't stand a chance against him; they were down in seconds.
Now, Noah's eyes were locked on Rhett.
"What do you think you're doing?" Rhett stepped back, his face twisted with disdain. "Noah, you've got some serious moves. No wonder Bodhi's into you! But do you really think you can mess with me? Let me tell you, I'm a Harris! You lay a finger on me, and the Harris family will make you pay..."
Before he could finish, Noah grabbed Rhett by the hair and slammed his head down, following up with a knee to the forehead.
"Ow, that hurts!" Rhett yelled, his head spinning as he tasted blood trickling down to his lips.
"I'm bleeding." He touched his forehead, momentarily stunned, then rage flared up inside him like a wildfire.
"Noah, you little punk, how dare you make me bleed!" He glared at Noah, disbelief and fury in his eyes, wishing he could tear him apart.
"This Noah must have a death wish, making Mr. Harris bleed!" a nearby man muttered, terrified. If Rhett got hurt here, he'd be in deep trouble. As for Noah, he was as good as dead in his eyes. If Rhett reported this to the Harris family, not even Bodhi could save Noah!
"Kid, you're gonna regret crossing me!" Rhett said, pulling out his phone and dialing a number. "Uncle Nathaniel, I've been attacked!"
"Attacked? You gotta be kidding me. In Silverlight City, you're usually the one doing the attacking. Who'd dare hit you? Quit messing around, Rhett, I'm busy," came a teasing voice from the other end. It was Nathaniel, clearly not buying Rhett's story.
"Uncle Nathaniel, I'm serious!" Rhett gritted his teeth, glaring at Noah. "The guy who hit me is Noah!"
"Noah? Bodhi's guy? Why would he hit you?" Nathaniel's voice turned surprised.
"He thought he could take on our Harris family, so I sent my guys after him, but he fought back. And not just that, he clocked me on the head, and I'm bleeding like crazy!" Rhett snorted.
"Taking on our Harris family?" Nathaniel's tone turned icy. "I already warned Noah at the club not to act like a loose cannon just 'cause he's got Bodhi's backing. But now, this loose cannon has hit someone from our family and thinks he can get away with it! Does he really think Bodhi's protection lets him do whatever he wants?"
"Uncle Nathaniel, I want him gone, forever!" Rhett's eyes were filled with murderous intent.
"If it were anyone else, I could make them disappear anytime. But with Noah, Rhett, you'll have to hold off for now. Noah's got Bodhi behind him," Nathaniel said. "We need to think about the bigger picture. Bodhi just signed the contract, and things are settling down. I don't want any drama over something this trivial."
Rhett was taken aback. "Uncle Nathaniel, what do you mean?"
"We let it slide, for now," Nathaniel said bluntly. "Once the Harris factory shares are locked down and the environmental equipment arrives, then we can deal with Noah, the loose cannon!"
"But..." Rhett wanted to say more, still fuming.
"Enough, let's drop it. You're thinking about yourself, but I'm looking out for the whole Harris family. So for now, just let it go. Let him run his mouth; someone will deal with him eventually," Nathaniel said before hanging up.
Listening to the dial tone, Rhett's face soured. Nathaniel hadn't helped him save face, which was a real shock.
"So, weren't you gonna show me what happens when someone crosses you? Where's the big showdown?" Noah taunted Rhett.
"Noah, you're just a mad dog, riding on Bodhi's coattails to stir up trouble. But one day, you'll be gone before you even know it," Rhett spat venomously before storming off.
Nathaniel's lack of concern was no surprise to Noah.
People like him were all about the bigger picture. Until things went south with Bodhi, the Harris family wouldn't touch Noah, who was publicly linked to Bodhi.
Later, Noah spent the day shopping and snacking with Luna and Clementine, until early afternoon.
The two Facebook Live streamers raked in nearly five million dollars in gifts during those few hours.
After splitting the earnings, Noah pocketed over two hundred thousand dollars. He couldn't help but marvel at how easy it was to make money with the right resources.
Unfortunately, most folks were ordinary, lacking those resources and connections.
After dropping Luna and the others off at the hotel, Noah called Terry from the Silverlight City Daily. He planned to visit the Silverlight City factory with the editor.
Nathaniel's exploitation of his workers was something Noah thought could shake up the Harris family if exposed. He'd been planning this since the day before, but Jesse's situation delayed it until today.
He also had Aurelia secretly investigate the environmental equipment while managing Evergreen Market.
Noah suspected the equipment wasn't worth the claimed two billion dollars. Nathaniel's mention of twenty billion was likely a ploy to reclaim other shareholders' stakes. Of course, this needed further investigation.
At two in the afternoon, a GMC slowly pulled into the Silverlight City West Industrial Park.
A young man stepped out—Noah. Behind him were Bodhi and Terry. Terry was fully equipped, with a press badge hanging from his chest and a camera ready for interviews.
Meanwhile, two people in black business attire were walking briskly along the roadside—a man and a woman. The man wore a suit, looking refined, with a badge on his left chest reading "Skyray Bank."
The woman beside him was strikingly beautiful, with a curvy figure and a cool, aloof aura. It was Evelyn.
"Manager, the Harris family is really stingy. They're loaded, yet they need a billion-dollar loan from our Skyray Bank for environmental equipment," Evelyn complained as they walked past various factories. "I don't get how they got so successful while being so tight-fisted!"
