Chapter 138 Peace Prize
"Alright." Jessica was slightly taken aback but didn't insist. Then he said, "By the way, when we present the Peace Prize, let's shoot a video and post it online to promote positive energy."
"That can be done." Noah nodded. "But it needs to be edited. If everyone knows that I’m the recipient of the Peace Prize, I probably won't have peaceful days in the future."
Jessica glanced at Noah and naturally understood his concerns.
In the "Luke Black Gang" case, Noah had the most credit and was naturally the main target of retaliation from Luke's subordinates. If Noah's appearance was not edited, he might face personal danger, and even his family might be affected.
"Of course we’ll edit the video."
Jessica smiled and asked, "By the way, are you the owner of the internet-famous Rolls-Royce that is currently circulating in Oceanbridge City?"
Noah nodded. "It's me."
He was not surprised. With the intelligence capabilities of the police, it was easy to find out the real identity of an internet celebrity.
Jessica was pleased with Noah's honesty and said, "Then we’ll present you with the Peace Prize in the name of the owner of the Rolls-Royce. Of course, the video will be edited from beginning to end.
"You have many fans in our bureau too! You have millions of fans in Oceanbridge City. If we release this video, it will have a great effect and spread positive energy."
"I'm fine with that." Noah smiled.
"Great, then it's decided!"
The two of them immediately hit it off. Following that, Jessica promptly arranged for some people to organize an award ceremony for Noah. The entire ceremony was recorded on video from beginning to end. When the ceremony concluded, Noah received a medal. The medal was round, felt icy to the touch, had intricate engravings on the edges, and was completely golden with the words "Oceanbridge City Peace Award recipient, Noah" written on it. Noah put the medal in his pocket, and business at the police station was essentially concluded.
After leaving the police station, Noah drove to the hospital to visit Ethan. If Ethan hadn’t taken a bullet for him, Noah's fate would have been much worse. Noah felt grateful for that. When he arrived at the hospital, the doctor walked out from the operating room. He was the best orthopedic surgeon in Oceanbridge City and personally acquainted with Noah. He had treated Ethan's grandmother, Heather, for a fracture before.
"Doctor, how is Ethan?" Noah asked.
"Rest assured, Noah. The bullet fragments have been removed, and the wound is not too severe. He will be able to leave the hospital in about two days. In the future, he should consume more supplements and get more rest so he can recuperate, and within three to four months, he should make a full recovery," the doctor respectfully replied.
Noah breathed a sigh of relief. "Can I go in and see him?"
"Of course, you can."
Noah took a step and entered the operating room.
"Noah..."
Ethan struggled to sit up but winced in pain as his shoulder hurt.
"Just lie down, there's no need to be so formal," Noah said. "I owe you one for taking a bullet for me."
"It's what I should have done, Noah." Ethan scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. Then he asked, "By the way, how is Luke?"
When he had been hit by a bullet, he hadn’t been able to stand the excruciating pain, passing out. He didn't know what happened afterwards.
"Luke has already been arrested by the police. He’ll probably be going to court in a few days." Noah smiled.
"Luke was arrested!" Ethan's eyes flickered. "He’s the boss of the Oceanbridge City gang. If he’s been arrested, the streets will certainly be in turmoil."
"I know that. You focus on recovering from your injuries first. We can discuss this after you’re discharged from the hospital," Noah nodded. He already had plans for this.
"Alright." Ethan didn't say much more.
After exchanging a few more words, Noah returned to Golden Summit Peak.
"Great, great!" Daniel was sitting in the living room watching TV. He clapped his hands in excitement while saying, "There’s a crackdown on crime, great!"
On the television was a live broadcast of an emergency press conference held by the Oceanbridge City Public Security Bureau. Jessica, the police chief, was seated in the middle and speaking into the microphone.
"Just two hours ago, a major organized crime case was cracked in the city. The leader of the case, Luke, along with thirteen core members of the criminal gang, were all apprehended by the police.
"The criminal gang had been operating in Oceanbridge City for many years, primarily profiting from high-interest loans, online lending companies, and financial fraud. Lending companies such as Reno Financial and Beautiful Installments were under their control, offering financial products like trade finance and quick cash. The total amount involved in the case is in the billions, with tens of thousands of victims known so far... "
"Trade Finance!" Daniel's eyes lit up. The financial product he had been scammed into buying was called Trade Finance.
"If that's the case, since this case has been cracked, there might be a chance for me to get back my $500,000!" Daniel smiled with relief. That $500,000 was his entire fortune.
"At this point, we want to mention a citizen who made a significant contribution to our police force in cracking the 'Luke Criminal Gang' case," Jessica continued.
As he spoke, a video appeared on the projection wall behind him, showing Noah receiving a peace award.
However, Noah's face was pixelated.
"We cannot disclose this citizen’s name, but his online alias is well-known to everyone, the owner of the Rolls-Royce!
"The owner of the Rolls-Royce provided us with information that led to the arrest of the leader, Luke. In recognition of the owner of the Rolls-Royce's outstanding contribution, the city government has decided to present the peace award to the owner of the Rolls-Royce!"
"So, the clue that led to Luke's arrest came from the owner of the Rolls-Royce!" Daniel was slightly surprised. He widened his eyes, trying to get a clear look at the owner of Rolls-Royce in the video.
But the pixelation made it impossible to see the face.
“The owner of the Rolls-Royce is not only an internet celebrity, he has now become a hero in the fight against crime!" Daniel exclaimed. "If I can get my $500,000 back, he'll be my idol."
Following that, Daniel looked outside and saw Noah returning.
"haha!" He snorted, furrowing his brow, and continued watching TV.
Daniel was still upset about Noah, the worthless son-in-law who had made him kneel.
...
In the evening, the family gathered around the table for dinner. Chloe was also present.
"It's been so lively online today! And it's all about the owner of the Rolls-Royce?" Luna ate while scrolling through short videos on her phone.
"What's going on? Why are you so excited?" Lisa asked curiously. She had just come home from work and hadn't checked her phone yet.
"There are two videos of the owner of the Rolls-Royce circulating on the internet today," Luna said.
"In the first video, the owner of the Rolls-Royce was in a live stream and generously rewarded the streamer with one million dollars."
Luna didn't say anything about the fact that she was the streamer.
"A million dollars? The owner of the Rolls-Royce is really rich." Lisa shook her head. "Maybe he’s just a show-off. I'm starting to feel disgusted with that internet celebrity. Basically, he’s just showing off in every video."
