Chapter 281 Celebration Dinner
"The director's got us on a tight leash: the ratings for the next episodes of 'I am a Super Rich' have to beat the one with Larry."
Ally's voice was firm as she continued, "So, Noah, we've got a lot riding on this. I think the video you shot earlier had some issues. We should reshoot it. Maybe you could even copy Larry—buy a mansion and throw a housewarming party."
"Right now, your image with our ten million viewers isn't exactly stellar."
"My suggestion is: When you buy the mansion and host the housewarming, publicly apologize to your father-in-law. It'll help fix your image. Plus, with the video I shot of you catching that thief, it'll create a dramatic turnaround and boost our ratings even more!"
Ally's excitement grew. "Noah, with Larry setting the stage, the audience is really into you. This is a golden opportunity. So, when can we go buy a mansion and film it?"
"I don't have time," Noah replied flatly.
Ally was shocked. "Noah, are you really that busy?"
"Yeah, I'm swamped. I don't have time to buy a mansion and shoot a video with you," Noah said. "And according to the rules of 'I am a Super Rich,' you can't make me do anything. I'm not interested in buying a mansion, and I haven't even spent much of that ten million dollars."
"But Noah, this is a huge opportunity!" Ally's voice rose in frustration. "With Larry paving the way, you're super popular right now. You're even trending on Twitter!"
"If we nail this episode, the ratings will skyrocket. And it'll be great for you too. The director might even treat you like a star, just like Larry. Noah, you need to grab this chance!"
"I'm not interested in being a star," Noah said. "If I decide to use that ten million dollars, I'll let you know. Goodbye."
"Noah, don't hang up! You can't seriously think you're a 'Super Rich' now, can you?" Ally's words were cut off by the sound of the call ending.
"Damn it!" Ally stomped her foot in frustration. "Noah is so unambitious! We gave him ten million dollars, and he really thinks he's rich now! He won't even listen to the show anymore!"
"No matter what, I need to document this!" Ally pulled out a notebook and wrote, [Noah has completely lost himself to money. He doesn't even know who he is anymore. With ten million dollars, he really thinks he's a 'Super Rich' and ignores the show's instructions.]
[Some people use ten million dollars to buy mansions and luxury cars and contribute to their families. Others, like Noah, forget who gave them the money and show no gratitude! They only care about their own interests!]
[And he is so arrogant that he doesn't even care about his reputation. I invited him to buy a mansion and shoot a video to completely restore his image and even turn him into a figure like Larry, but he completely ignored me!]
[This just shows how stubborn and self-centered Noah is!]
After hanging up on Ally, Noah shifted his focus to negotiating a logistics partnership with the Winchester family. He sent a message on Facebook to Zack, asking if he had explained everything to the Edward family.
Soon, Zack replied, "Mr. Anderson, don't worry. I personally visited the Edward family and explained everything. They have no idea about your true identity."
"I told Ms. Edward that the group chat was something I created on purpose, and everyone in it was hired. It was all a setup to deceive the Edward family and frame you."
"Ms. Edward believed my explanation and regretted not stopping you that day at the Royal Villa to give you a chance to explain."
"That's good," Noah replied. As long as the Edward family understood, everything would be fine.
The next steps were straightforward. Among the four major families in Oceanbridge City, the Benson family was under Noah's control and could be directed at will.
The Anthony family had agreed to speak on Noah's behalf. With the Edward family now understanding the situation, Anna would likely help as well.
With three families supporting him, Noah was confident that the Winchester family would agree to the logistics partnership. It was a win-win situation for them.
Noah's Facebook pinged again. It was Nathan, the finance manager.
"Mr. Anderson, I forgot to mention on the phone that 'I am a Super Rich' has achieved the highest ratings in its time slot. It's a huge success."
"So, our major sponsors have decided to hold a celebration dinner to discuss the future direction of the show. Reporters will also be there. Will you be attending, Mr. Anderson?"
"Okay," Noah replied. "Time and place?"
"Seven o'clock tonight at a restaurant called 'That Small Restaurant,'" Nathan replied.
"Okay, I'll be there," Noah said.
At 6:55 PM, Noah arrived at "That Small Restaurant" in Oceanbridge City. It was a popular spot known for its Southern cuisine and had a great reputation. The place was always bustling with people.
Noah parked his car and got out. The night was cool, and he put on a jacket. He noticed a white Mercedes G350 parked nearby.
"What's this?" he thought.
The car was worth over $150,000, and the license plate indicated it was from Silverlight City, a major city about 150 miles from Oceanbridge City. It wasn't unusual to see a car from there, but the owner was likely someone important.
Next to the Mercedes were other high-end cars: an Audi A8, a Mercedes S-Class, a Porsche Panamera...
Noah turned his attention back to the restaurant. The sign read "That Small Restaurant" in bold, elegant letters.
He stepped inside.
"How many in your party, sir?" a smiling server asked.
"I have a reservation in VIP Room 1," Noah replied.
"VIP Room 1!" The server's smile widened. She had seen a group of over twenty people head into VIP Room 1 earlier.
