Chapter 208 The Hardship of Making Money
"Evelyn, you know this guy?" Gideon asked, looking bewildered.
"Yeah. Remember I told you about a friend who married a total loser?" Evelyn replied, her eyes fixed on Noah. "That's him."
"Oh, right. I forgot. I know this deadbeat, too. We're not exactly on good terms," Gideon said.
Evelyn continued to stare at Noah. "Noah, I never pictured you delivering food. Honestly, part of me is relieved. At least you're working, even if it's a low-paying, back-breaking job. Shows you have some sense of responsibility, not wanting Lisa to shoulder everything."
"Just cut the crap and give me a five-star rating," Noah said, frowning at Gideon.
"A five-star rating? Are you kidding me?" Gideon laughed. "You're late, and you expect a five-star rating? Sure, I'll give you one. If you get down on your knees and beg."
Evelyn smirked. "Noah, you've never worked a day in your life. Now that you're a delivery guy, you should experience what it's like to earn a living. Why don't you get down on your knees for Mr. Winchester? Just a little taste of the real world, the struggle to make a buck. You see stories all the time about people begging customers for signatures, calling them 'daddy' for a good review. Making money isn't easy. You, at the bottom of the food chain, should experience it, too."
"Seriously?" Gideon asked, surprised. "Babe, I never thought about it like that! My family's business brings in thousands a day! So, money is hard to come by? Like right now, I'm in a hotel, enjoying myself with you, and the money's just rolling in. This loser's delivering food, begging for a good review. It's hilarious! I'll never know the struggle of earning a living."
"Gideon, you're awful!" Evelyn giggled, playfully punching him.
"But it's true! You're gorgeous!" Gideon laughed, putting his arm around Evelyn and glaring at Noah. "Get on your knees, Noah, and beg for that five-star rating! Call me 'daddy,' and I might even throw in a tip."
"Come on, Noah. It's for your own good, to experience the hardship of earning money," Evelyn said. "I'll take a picture and send it to Lisa. She'll be so proud to see her husband finally contributing. Just get down on your knees, and Gideon will give you that five-star rating!"
Evelyn took out her phone, ready to capture Noah's humiliation.
Before she could react, two sharp smack sounds filled the room. Bright red handprints blossomed on Evelyn and Gideon's cheeks.
They both gasped, staring at Noah in disbelief.
"You broke piece of trash! How dare you hit me?!" Gideon roared.
"Noah, you're dead!" Evelyn shrieked, glaring at him.
"You two are delusional. Nice words don't work with you," Noah said coldly. "You asked for this."
He then lifted his right foot and delivered a swift, brutal kick.
Gideon and Evelyn went flying, crashing hard onto the floor.
"Oh my god! That hurts!" Evelyn screamed, pointing at Noah. "You bastard! You hit a woman! Are you even a man?! I'm telling Lisa!"
"Damn you, you broke loser! How dare you hit me!" Gideon finally recovered, his eyes blazing with fury.
"I'm going to kill you!" Gideon, at 5'11", didn't consider Noah a physical threat. He balled his fist and lunged.
But Noah was faster. He raised his leg and kicked again.
This time, Gideon flew back, slamming into the hotel wall before crumpling onto the carpet.
He coughed up blood, feeling like his ribs were shattered. The pain was searing.
"So fast!" Gideon stared at Noah in disbelief. He hadn't expected such speed and power.
Noah walked over to Gideon. "You're pathetic. Stalling until the time runs out, then leaving a bad review. You're scum."
He bent down, grabbed Gideon's hair, and slammed his head against the wall.
Gideon screamed, his head swimming in pain. Blood trickled down his forehead.
"You wanted me to beg? How dare you?" Noah slammed his head against the wall again.
With each impact, more blood flowed.
"You think you can get away with this, Noah? The Winchester family won't let you off the hook!" Gideon glared at Noah, his eyes bloodshot.
"The Winchester family? Bring them on," Noah said indifferently, a cold glint in his eyes. "You said you'd never understand the struggle of making money? Don't worry. You'll learn soon enough."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Gideon asked, confused.
Noah ignored the question. "Now, get on your knees, apologize, and give me a five-star rating."
Gideon laughed. "Noah, are you insane? You want me, Gideon Winchester, to kneel and apologize to a delivery guy?"
Before he could finish the sentence, Noah slapped him hard across the face.
The force of the blow knocked out two of Gideon's front teeth. Blood spurted from his mouth.
"Agh! That hurts!" Gideon gasped, his body trembling.
Noah's eyes were cold and merciless. He slapped Gideon again.
The sound of the slaps echoed through the room, one after another.
In less than a minute, Gideon's face was swollen and bruised.
"Stop! Please stop!" Gideon finally broke. "I'll kneel! I'll apologize! Just stop hitting me!"
Gideon knelt before Noah, his voice trembling. "Noah… I… I'm sorry. I apologize for what I said."
Noah stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze shifting to Evelyn. His demeanor was commanding and unwavering. "You too. Kneel. Apologize."
