Chapter 209 Kneel Down!
"What? You want me to kneel and apologize too?" Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Noah, you loser, you've lost your mind. I am not kneeling and apologizing to you!" Evelyn's voice dripped with contempt. "You're a delivery driver. What gives you the right to demand an apology, let alone make me kneel? I'm Lisa's good friend. If she finds out you made me kneel, you'll be sorry!"
"So, you're refusing?" Noah's brow furrowed, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he stepped toward Evelyn.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Evelyn's face paled, fear flickering in her eyes as she glanced at Gideon.
Gideon was already a bloody mess.
"You hit Gideon, and now you want to hit me?" Evelyn shrieked, shaking her head. "No way! You're just a pathetic loser! Don't you dare touch me!"
The word "loser" barely left her lips before a sharp crack echoed through the room.
A bright red handprint flared on Evelyn's cheek, stinging with a fiery pain. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"Why wouldn't I hit you?" Noah raised his hand and slapped her again.
"You seem to have me all wrong. Calling me a loser? Look at yourself. You strut around like some kind of princess, pretending to be a strong, independent woman. But you're nothing but a gold digger! You latch onto any guy with money, dreaming of marrying rich. Do you even have what it takes to snag a rich husband? First Joshua, now Gideon. You're a shameless social climber." Noah sneered.
With each sentence, Noah delivered another stinging slap, five in total.
Evelyn's face was rapidly swelling, almost unrecognizable.
"Noah, you… you… you piece of trash! How dare you! I'll kill you!" Evelyn screamed, her eyes blazing with fury, as she lunged at Noah.
Before she could reach him, Noah’s foot shot out, catching her in the stomach.
Evelyn slammed onto the floor, the air whooshing from her lungs. The pain was excruciating.
Finally, Evelyn broke down, sobbing. "Noah, you… you… you loser! You hit a woman! You're… you're disgusting! I'm telling Lisa!"
"Crying won't help. Neither will be telling on me." Noah smirked, stepping forward and grabbing Evelyn by the throat, lifting her off the ground.
"Lo…loser…le…let me go!" Evelyn choked, struggling in vain.
"Listen, I don't give a damn about your foul mouth. You're nothing but a two-faced backstabber, so your words mean nothing to me," Noah said, his eyes icy, sending a shiver down Evelyn's spine. "But you shouldn't have badmouthed me to Lisa. You upset her and almost caused a divorce."
Noah's grip tightened.
Evelyn felt like she was choking, gasping for air, her eyes bulging. She was on the verge of blacking out.
The pressure on her throat increased.
Terror flooded Evelyn's face. Her pupils constricted, cold sweat plastered her back, and her legs trembled uncontrollably.
If she didn't apologize, she was certain Noah would strangle her to death.
"I… I apologize… I'll kneel," Evelyn croaked, forcing the words out.
Noah released his grip, and Evelyn collapsed to the floor, clutching her throat and gasping for breath.
"Kneel," Noah commanded, looking down at her.
Evelyn's face was a mask of conflicting emotions. Apologizing and kneeling to Noah was the last thing she wanted to do.
But the memory of near-asphyxiation was still vivid, filling her with terror.
Finally, Evelyn gritted her teeth and knelt before Noah, her voice trembling. "Noah, I'm sorry. I apologize for what I said. Please don’t hold it against me. And for lying about you to Lisa… I apologize for that, too. I’m… I’m a bitch. Please forgive me."
Noah's expression remained impassive as he turned to Gideon. "Did you give me that five-star rating?"
Gideon trembled, scrambling to respond. "Yes! Yes! Five stars! I even added pictures and a glowing review!"
To Gideon, Noah was a terrifying force. He just wanted him gone.
"Good." Noah turned and walked out.
After Noah left, it took a full two minutes for Gideon and Evelyn to catch their breath.
The memory of Noah's chilling aura still lingered, filling them with fear.
"Damn it! Damn it!" Gideon hurled his phone against the wall. "Revenge! I'll get my revenge! That delivery driver made me kneel! He'll pay for this!"
Evelyn's face was equally grim. "Gideon, don't get so worked up. Noah's just a brute. He's a pathetic loser reduced to delivering food. All he has is brute force!"
"He made me kneel! I won't let him get away with it!" Gideon roared.
Evelyn, seething with anger, initially reached for her phone to call Lisa and complain. But the thought of Lisa knowing she’d been forced to kneel was too humiliating.
Instead, she recorded a voice message. "Lisa, you won't believe this! Your husband is delivering food! And he's terrible at it! He was late with our order and even assaulted us! He's definitely getting fired, maybe even arrested! You need to talk to him!"
After leaving the Grand Horizon Hotel, Noah drove back to Noah's Barbecue Restaurant.
"Sir, thank you so much!" The delivery driver rushed over, his face beaming with gratitude. "The order wasn't late, and the customer gave me a five-star rating! I can't thank you enough!"
If the order had received a poor rating, the driver’s performance for the month would have been tanked, costing him thousands of dollars in bonuses.
"No problem. Happy to help," Noah smiled.
