Chapter 61: A Good Son-in-law

"Come out for dinner, Lisa," Sarah said coldly over the phone. "Dad is buying."

"Dinner?" Lisa was confused. She had just had a big fight with Daniel yesterday, and now they were asking her out for dinner?

"We’re going to the Jade Lake Villa. Come quickly and bring that useless Noah along," Sarah said before hanging up.

"We’re going out for dinner with my father," Sarah said to Noah.

Noah was also puzzled, but as a son-in-law, he had to accept his father-in-law ‘s invitation.

The Jade Lake Villa was an ordinary restaurant in Oceanbridge City.

Daniel sat at the head of a table in the restaurant, while Sarah and Larry sat on the right. Sitting on the left was a man in his thirties.

The man was wearing glasses, a suit, and had a refined manner. The Vacheron Constantin watch on his wrist shimmered under the light, attracting attention.

"Are you done with the call?" Daniel spoke.

"I’m done. They should be here soon," Sarah put down her phone and glanced at the man with some jealousy.

This man was much richer than her husband, Larry.

If Lisa married him, she would definitely be overshadowed by Lisa's family in the future.

The man's name was Ivan and Daniel had found him at a blind date event. He seemed like an accomplished man.

"Wait a moment, Lisa will be here soon!" Daniel looked at Ivan, smiling, growing more satisfied as he looked at him.

"Okay," Ivan nodded.

"How's work? Are you under a lot of pressure?" Daniel asked casually.

"It's quite a lot." Ivan adjusted his glasses. "Noah Capital is one of the top fifty investment companies globally, and there is fierce internal competition."

"Noah Capital!" Daniel's eyes lit up. "You work at Noah Capital too?"

"Yeah, why?" Ivan asked, curious.

"Wow, what a small world. We're all connected," Daniel exclaimed.

Daniel smiled and said, "My daughter Lisa also works at a wholly owned subsidiary of Noah Capital, so you’re in the same company!"

"A wholly owned subsidiary?" Ivan's eyes flickered. Noah Capital was an investment company, and it was rare for them to have a wholly owned subsidiary. They would only wholly acquire a company if they had high hopes for the company's prospects, or if they had a relationship with it.

"How serendipitous. I’m an investment advisor at Noah Capital, with an annual salary of around $200,000. At the end of the year, my total annual income is probably around $400,000 to $500,000, with bonuses included," Ivan chuckled.

"You make $400,000 to $500,000 a year and stable job in an air-conditioned office. That's great!" Daniel was very satisfied. "That’s much better than Larry, who has to endure the wind and sun on the construction site!"

Sarah became even more jealous of Lisa. She believed that when Lisa found out about Ivan's job, she would immediately divorce Noah and marry Ivan.

Ivan continued, "I don’t make that much right now. I’m currently in a period of career growth, and I’m confident that within three years, I’ll become an investment manager in Oceanbridge City at Noah Capital. By then, my annual salary will be in the millions."

"Millions!" Daniel’s eyes widened. He hadn't expected Ivan's job to be so good. He had struck gold.

"If I work hard, I might reach the core high-level positions at Noah Capital within twenty years. I’ll be able to participate directly in profit sharing and hold company shares. I might have an annual income of tens of millions or even billions!" Ivan continued.

"An annual income of billions!" Daniel beamed, thinking he had found a great son-in-law.

Compared to Ivan, that useless Noah was no match at all. There was no comparison between the two! One was a hopeless loser, while the other was a man in a period of infinite career opportunities.

He believed that Lisa would choose Ivan.

"By the way, where is your house? Have you been married before?" Daniel asked again.

"I’m a born and raised Oceanbridge City native. When the area was redeveloped, I received five properties. I can live wherever I want. Actually, I could live worry-free for the rest of my life just by collecting rent. But I still prefer working and striving." Ivan smiled modestly.

"Good! I like ambitious men like you. You’re much better than that useless Noah, who's just waiting to die!" Daniel clapped his hands in admiration. "Larry, tell me I'm right."

Larry nodded, "Of course. Ivan and Noah are not even comparable. One has an unlimited future and can leap to success at any time. The other has to struggle at the bottom of society and worry about basic needs. He’s living a life in poverty."

"Well, Larry, your assessment is very accurate!"

"As for marriage, I had a failed marriage, and now I have a four-year-old child, whom I raise," Ivan said.

"It’s not a problem that you have a child. If you and my daughter Lisa get together and get married, I’ll have more grandchildren! He can stay at my house, and I’ll drive my Mercedes to take him to school!" Daniel waved his hand nonchalantly.

"That's great!" Ivan nodded and was satisfied. "By the way, Daniel, how much longer until your daughter arrives? My company is quite busy."

"She'll be here soon... Look, here she is!" Daniel looked outside as Sarah and Noah walked in.

"Lisa, look!" Daniel raised his hand.

Lisa immediately noticed them and walked over to the dining table. "Dad, why are you buying us a meal for no reason?"

As soon as she sat down, she felt a scorching gaze fixed on her face.

There was a man on Daniel's left side. His gaze was locked on her, as if mesmerized, filled with adoration.

Daniel's heart leaped with joy when he saw Ivan’s gaze. He knew that this was almost a done deal!

"Are you satisfied with my daughter Ivan?" Daniel asked.

"I’m very satisfied!" Ivan continued to look at Lisa. "To be honest with you, Daniel, Lisa looks a lot like my first love. Seeing her makes feel like I’ve gone back to my youth! If you agree, I’ll have the betrothal gifts delivered tomorrow!"

"Hahaha! Since you're satisfied, I agree!" Daniel laughed heartily. "From today onward, you’ll be my son-in-law! You’ll be a good son-in-law!"

"Thank you, Daniel!" Ivan immediately said.

"Tsk tsk tsk, from now on, I’ll have a new brother-in-law!" Sarah became increasingly jealous. Ivan was so accomplished that she would be tempted if she weren’t married. Lisa would naturally agree and divorce Noah to marry him.

Once Ivan and Lisa were married, Sarah would be overshadowed!

Sarah felt more uncomfortable and jealous as she thought of that.
