Chapter 250 Catching the Thief
"Ugh... could be," Noah said, rubbing his nose.
"Good," Ally replied, "Our show has a few conditions. First, once the money is transferred, you can't use it for anything illegal, like gambling or loan sharking. Second, we'll be recording videos of you spending the money. Our team will edit the footage and broadcast it on Oceanbridge City TV, so we need to stay in contact 24/7."
Noah nodded, "No problem."
"Great. One more thing: if you break these rules or do anything the show deems inappropriate, we'll have the right to take back the money. But if you spend the million dollars and the videos are a hit with the audience, gaining you lots of fans, we might increase your amount."
"Sounds good." Noah wasn't surprised by the possibility of additional funds. The better the video content, the more viewers it would attract, boosting ratings and revenue for the show.
"Since you agree, come and sign the contract." Ally handed him a contract and a pen.
Noah skimmed through it and signed his name.
Ally took the signed contract, glanced at it, and said, "Mr. Anderson, please give me your bank account number, and I'll have the show transfer the million dollars to you right now. Remember, once the money is in your account, we need to stay in contact 24/7, and you need to notify me when you spend it."
"Got it." Noah agreed and gave Ally his account number, and soon after, he received a notification that the million dollars had been deposited.
After that, they exchanged Facebook contacts to stay in touch.
"Mr. Anderson, I'll head back to the show now. I hope this million dollars could make your life better and you become extraordinary!" Ally said with a smile.
Oceanbridge City, with a population of over seven million, wouldn't be affected by thirty people suddenly becoming millionaires.
But once the show aired, it would definitely hit a huge impact. People dreaming of sudden wealth would love watching this kind of show!
The revenue generated would surely be in the billions.
"Thanks." Noah's calm demeanor didn't change. A million dollars was like finding a dollar on the street to him—it wouldn't affect his life at all.
Ally was taken aback by Noah's reaction. She hadn't expected him to remain so composed after receiving a million dollars.
Could someone with such self-control really be ordinary?
Just as Ally was pondering this, a shout rang out. "Thief! Catch him!"
Noah looked over and saw a young man sprinting towards him. The guy had dyed yellow hair and was clutching a fancy handbag that sparkled with diamonds—clearly expensive.
Behind him, a girl was chasing, gasping for breath and shouting, "S... stop the thief! He sto... stole my bag!"
Despite well awake to the current situation, but no one dared to intervene. Stealing in broad daylight suggested the thief might be armed. Getting involved could mean getting hurt or worse.
So, the bystanders just watched, none willing to step in.
The young man was now right in front of Noah.
Ally jumped back in fright, moving away quickly.
Noah smirked and extended his right foot.
Caught off guard, the man tripped and fell hard.
He hit the ground, gasping in pain, grimacing. He stood up, holding the bag in one hand and pulling out a switchblade with the other.
"Mind your own business, or you'll regret it!" the man snarled, waving the knife menacingly.
Noah didn't bother with words. His left hand shot out like lightning.
In an instant, he grabbed the thief's wrist.
With a sharp crack, a flood of pain surged through the man's wrist—his wrist bone was shattered!
The thief collapsed, screaming in agony.
The switchblade fell to the ground, and the handbag dropped too.
"Get lost!" Noah flung the man away, sending him sprawling five yards away.
He reached out with his other hand, catching the handbag effortlessly.
"It hurts so much!" The man clutched his wrist, terrified, and scrambled away.
The crowd cheered, praising Noah and clapping.
"Mr. Anderson, impressive skills!" Ally said, walking over and looking Noah up and down, surprised by his combat prowess. She hadn't expected him to handle an armed thief so easily.
"Mr. Anderson, I recorded your heroic act," Ally said, pointing to her camera with a smile. "When 'I'm a Millionaire' airs, this footage will definitely be included. You might become a star!"
Noah smiled, uninterested in fame.
The girl who had her bag stolen ran over, panting and sweating, clearly exhausted. "Than... thank you so much!"
She looked at the handbag in Noah's hand and expressed her gratitude.
"Nothing." Noah smiled and handed the bag back to her.
The handbag was a limited edition Chanel, which was worth about fifty thousand dollars. A girl carrying such a bag must come from a wealthy family.
She was about 5'5", with smooth skin and a hint of baby fat on her cheeks, making her look adorable.
"I'm Anna Edward. What's your name?" Anna asked.
"Noah Anderson." Noah replied briefly.
Anna repeated his name, finding it familiar but unable to recall where she'd heard it.
"Noah, you helped me get my bag back. Let me treat you to a meal. You can choose the place," Anna said, smiling with dimples.
"No need for that. It was just a small favor," Noah replied with a smile.
