Chapter 71 Who Are You?
Lisa clutched Noah's hand tightly, her trembling body filled with fear.
"It's okay," Noah reassured her, caressing Lisa's hair.
"It’s okay? Are you just trying to comfort her?” Garrett chuckled. “A loser will always be a loser. He’s not angry even though I’ve threatened to take his wife. He's just a coward. Maybe he’s scared because he’s seen all my men!"
Noah's expression remained unchanged. Mason's eyelid twitched slightly. Noah had a good upbringing in a small family and almost never let his emotions show. But now, Noah's lack of emotion indicated only one thing - he was truly angry.
The greater the emotional upheaval, the more he hid his feelings.
"Do you need more people, Garrett?" Mason smiled and clapped his hands.
Snap!
Snap!
Snap!
One after another, the doors of seven or eight private rooms opened, revealing a large group of people pouring out of the rooms. There were around forty to fifty people, all tall and strong, giving off a sense of power and strength.
"What's going on?"
"Why did so many people suddenly show up?"
Garrett's subordinates started to panic. They hadn’t expected to be surrounded so suddenly.
"Are you really going to interfere for the sake of a woman, Mason?" Garrett's face turned cold. "I know your position in the underworld, but I’ve made it to where I am today with someone backing me up!
"If you challenge me, we’ll both suffer. And my connections won't spare you!"
"Connections?" Mason sneered, not interested in conversing further.
It didn’t matter how powerful Garrett's connections were. There was no way they would be more formidable than Noah or The Anderson Family?
"Lisa, go to that private room and wait. I’ll handle this soon," Noah instructed.
"Noah... you..." Lisa's voice trailed off.
Lisa was worried.
"It's alright, you'll be fine in a little while," Noah said gently.
"Okay," Lisa finally nodded and went to another private room, closing the door behind her.
Garrett sneered. "It seems you're determined to meddle in other people's business, Mason..."
Bang! Before he could finish his sentence, Noah punched him in the face. The punch knocked Garrett onto the table, causing his nose to bleed profusely.
"Fuck, you piece of trash! How dare you hit me!" Garrett exclaimed, wide-eyed and shocked that Noah, the weakling, had hit him instead of Mason.
"Attack, kill him!" Garrett shouted.
"Get him!" Mason also spoke expressionlessly.
The two sides immediately engaged in a brawl. Clang! Bang! Ding!
"Ah!"
"Beat him to death!"
The sounds of weapons clashing and screams blended together.
Most of Garrett's men were from construction sites; while they looked strong, they lacked fighting experience.
Mason had brought elite fighters who had been with Mason for years. They were experienced in fighting and would stop at nothing to defeat their opponents.
In just a few minutes, Garrett's men were overwhelmed and on the verge of defeat. Garrett himself was no exception.
Bang! Noah kicked him mercilessly in the stomach. He flew backward, crashing through the private room and landing heavily in the adjacent one.
"You piece of trash! How dare you hit me!" Garrett yelled.
"Do you know who’s behind me? Do you know that with my background, killing you would be as simple as squashing an ant?
"You piece of trash! You coward! How dare you hit me?"
He glared at Noah in anger and disbelief. He truly couldn't understand why Noah would dare to hit him. Wasn't this weakling afraid of death? Wasn't he afraid of his influence?
"You piece of trash, I have tens of thousands of laborers under my command. With a little money, I can get them to throw you into the Celestial Canopy River to feed the fishes!" he continued to shout.
"Trash?" Noah smiled coldly and stepped on Garrett's face. Bang!
"You called me trash, and trash is stepping on you. What does that make you?" Noah looked down at Garrett with a chilling gaze. Garrett shivered uncontrollably as Noah stared at him, feeling as if he was being stared down by a terrifying beast.
Meanwhile, the fight outside had ended. Garrett's men lay on the ground groaning in pain. "Do you enjoy making people drink?" Noah taunted.
Noah picked up Lisa's glass and gave a signal with his gaze.
Immediately, two henchmen came over and pried Garrett's mouth open.
"What... what are you doing, you coward?
"What do you want?"
Garrett struggled, but it had no effect.
Noah picked up the glass and poured all the alcohol into Garrett's mouth, then grabbed a liquor flask and poured the rest in.
"You like making people drink, so I'll give you a taste!" Noah sneered.
"Cough... you coward!"
Garrett coughed, trying to cough out the alcohol, but it was futile.
"What's our next move, Noah?" Mason asked.
"Take him away."
Noah glanced at Garrett and added, "And ask the owner how much it costs to replace what was broken, and double it."
After saying that, Noah went to Lisa's private room.
"Noah!"
Lisa stood up with a worried expression on her face.
"What's going on now? I heard fighting outside, I was so worried about you."
"It's fine, it's already over. You should go home first." Noah smiled and reassured her.
"What about you, Noah?" Lisa immediately asked.
"I still have some things to take care of," Noah replied.
Lisa remained silent for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay, I'll go home and wait for you. Take care of yourself, Noah."
Although she had many doubts in her mind, she didn’t ask him any more questions.
After Lisa left, Noah had someone take Garrett out of delicious Cuisine and throw him into the trunk of a Buick sedan.
...
Oceanbridge City's Celestial Canopy River bridge.
It was night time, and the moonlight shone brightly on the river, which sparkled with ripples as the evening breeze blew.
Noah stood by the shore with his hands behind his back, looking at the scenery of the river.
"We’ve brought him here, Noah." Mason walked over, followed by two henchmen, supporting Garrett.
Garrett was stumbling, his eyes rolling back and trembling, and he seemed like he would collapse at any moment.
"The drug seems to be taking effect quite quickly. He's almost unconscious now." Mason chuckled.
"Attach a large stone to his body so he’ll sink to the bottom of the river forever," Noah said calmly. Since he found out about Garrett's plan to drug Lisa, he had made up his mind to kill him.
"Alright!" Mason beckoned to one of the henchmen to find a stone.
"What are you doing?" Garrett's voice was weak, but his face was filled with terror.
At that moment, he was feeling the effects of the medicine and was weak all over, but he was still barely conscious.
When he saw a henchman approaching them with a big rock in his arms, his instinctive fear kicked in.
"What are you doing...?" he asked.
"What am I doing? If my memory serves me right, you were planning to throw me into the river to feed the fishes. After giving it some thought, I think it would be better for you to go in the river instead," Noah said with a smile that was cruel and cold.
Garrett was immediately horrified. "Are you going to kill me?"
"No, that's impossible. You wouldn’t dare kill me! If you kill me, my connections will avenge me!" he said, looking at Mason.
"Mason... you're the one backing up this Noah, aren't you? Don't you know about my connections?" he asked.
"If you help Noah, your fate will be miserable."
"Backing him up?" Mason shook his head. "I'm not backing up Noah. I'm just doing things for him. And if we're talking about connections, I have connections too. It’s Noah."
"That's impossible!" Garrett's pupils contracted.
How could Noah be as important as Mason?
Mason was a big shot in the gray area of Oceanbridge City!
Who was this Noah? What was his identity?
Garrett looked at Noah, confused, shocked, and doubtful.
"Alright, enough talking. Tie him up and throw him in," Noah said calmly.
Four or five henchmen approached and tied the rock to Garrett's chest. By this time, the effects of the medicine had fully taken hold and Garrett lay motionless on the ground, his eyes rolled back.
"I’m being kind and letting you die without any pain." Noah's gaze flickered.
Splash!
Water splashed as Garrett was thrown into the Celestial Canopy River.
The lake water flowed, swallowing him up in the blink of an eye.
"Let's go back. Can't keep the wife waiting for too long." Noah walked toward the car.
