Chapter 70 How Did You Come?

"Garrett, I drove here, so I won't drink," Lisa said coldly. "Let's talk about work."

"You can call for a designated driver!" Garrett smiled.

"Lisa, as the overall person in charge of the impoverished area, alcohol will probably be a part of future banquets. If you don't drink, who will discuss business with you?"

"Let me tell you, at these construction sites, two things are essential - cigarettes and alcohol. Since you’re a woman, you can skip smoking, but not drinking," Garrett was acting like an experienced person and educating her.

"If you don't drink at the table, no one will talk business with you. Don’t you think I'm making sense? If you drink that, I’ll talk business with you."

"Garrett, I admit that I lack experience in business negotiations. After all, I’m just an accountant," Lisa said expressionlessly. "What you said makes sense. You’re an old hand in this line of work. However, since I walked into this room, I’ve noticed that you don’t want to discuss business. You’ve been avoiding the topic, and I want to know why."

Lisa had studied some business techniques before coming here.

If she drank the alcohol, she would be at a disadvantage, and Garrett would lead the discussion. She wanted to show some strength.

"Let's do this. if we talk about business first, I’ll drink this." Lisa smiled faintly.

Garrett was taken aback for a moment. He hadn’t expected Lisa to use this tactic.

'Oh, is this what you’re doing?'

Garrett's lips curled into a smile. "Alright, since you insist, I won't force it. Let's talk business," he said.

After speaking, he took out a stack of contracts from his briefcase and handed them to Lisa.

"Please take a look,Lisa. This is a housing project, and these are some of my ideas."

Lisa's face brightened slightly. Now, she was the one leading Garrett by the nose.

She took the contract and started reading it. After a short while, her face gradually turned cold.

"What is this, Garrett? I’ve already given you one-third of the project in the slums. If you're not satisfied, forget it. You're asking for seventy percent of the project!"

Lisa slammed the contract on the table, her face as cold as ice.

"There’s a reason why I want seventy percent."

Garrett rubbed his bald head and casually took a sip of his drink.

"When it comes to the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City, no one has a larger market share than me. My workers are also very capable and experienced. If you give me seventy percent of the project, I can complete the work perfectly."

"Lisa, if you give the remaining thirty percent to other developers, there’ll be a high chance of problems! Who knows, a worker might die, or a collapse might happen tomorrow. Can you bear that responsibility?"

He continued, "If you give me seventy percent of the project, there won't be any problems with the construction. At the very least, there won't be any casualties!"

"Hmph, do you think I believe you?"

Lisa let out a cold snort. "I already investigated you before coming here. You are the developer with the highest rate of construction accidents in the city. It's just that you have connections and ways to cover things up."

Garrett glanced at Lisa. He hadn't expected her to be more than just a beautiful face; it seemed she was also smart.

This ignited his desire for conquest once again.

"We gave you one-third of the project purely because you have a forty percent share of the real estate in Oceanbridge City. That's the limit. It’s impossible for us to give you seventy percent!"

Lisa's voice was decisive.

"Heh,Lisa, it would be better if you signed this contract."

Garrett let out a cold laugh, his patience almost gone.

"Sign the contract? I've already said it's impossible. If you’re not satisfied, we can cancel the contract. The slum project can still go on without you," Lisa replied coldly.

"Sorry, but without me, the slum project can't proceed," Garrett said.

"I've been in this industry for many years. I definitely have the ability to leave a project unfinished!"

"Garrett, are you threatening me?"

"Yes, I am threatening you. You have to sign this contract today, whether you like it or not!"

Garrett's patience had completely vanished, and the in his eyes greed was no longer hidden.

"Ms.Lisa, you have to sign the contract for me today, and I also want you. Once we're done, I'll take a couple of pictures of you and then you'll be under my control," Garrett said with a smirk.

Clap! Garrett clapped his hands.

The private room door opened. Four or five big men stood outside, staring at Lisa with unfriendly eyes.

"What do you mean, Garrett?" Lisa looked at the men outside and her face turned icy.

"What do I mean? I mean exactly what I said earlier," Garrett chuckled. "Ms.Lisa, I'll give you a choice. If you drink the vodka in front of you and show me some respect, I'll let you leave peacefully."

"If you don't drink, that’ll mean you don't respect me, and I won't respect you either!" Lisa was furious, but since there were four or five men outside the door, she knew she couldn’t force her way out of here.

She looked at the glass of vodka and said, "Fine, I'll drink."

Lisa yielded and picked up the glass of vodka with her graceful hand.

A bigger smile appeared on Garrett's face as he watched Lisa. His plan was about to succeed.

As the vodka was about to touch her lips, they heard a voice full of mockery. "Garrett, you’re a grown man. How dare you bully a woman."

"Who the hell is talking?" Garrett's gaze turned cold as he looked outside.

A middle-aged man stood there, dressed in a grey suit, with a square face and deep eyes. He held a pair of iron stones in his hand, making a creaking sound.

Beside him stood a young man, slightly frail-looking, exuding a peculiar aura.

"Mason?" Garrett looked at the middle-aged man, his brow slightly furrowed. "Why are you here?"

"Noah!" Lisa saw Noah and immediately walked up to him. "Why are you here?"

"I wanted to try the food, so I came over." Noah smiled.

"Garrett, it's despicable for a man to use deceitful methods against a woman. You tried to drug her drink," Mason mocked.

"It’s drugged?" Lisa froze and looked at the vodka on the table. Suddenly, she had an epiphany - no wonder Garrett had acted so strange and insisted on her drinking. The drink had been drugged.

"So, you've figured it out. Yes, I did drug it." Garrett grinned, not bothering to hide what he had done. "What? Do you want to interfere? You should know that if you stand up for a woman, we'll both end up losing."

"Garrett, you're shameless!" Lisa's face turned pale with anger. She couldn't believe Garrett would stoop so low.

"Let's go!" she said, grabbing Noah and trying to leave.

"Where are you going? These men are all under my command!" Garrett sneered.

"I’m tired of hiding my intentions from you, Lisa," Garrett said, grinning at Lisa. "I’ve fallen for you, and from now on, you will be mine! I’ll have you in my bed tonight!"

Garrett then turned his gaze toward Noah and said, "And you must be her husband... I heard you're a worthless loser who does nothing but laze around at home, waiting to die. Tsk tsk tsk, you're lucky to have a beautiful wife like Lisa."

"But I’ll embarrass you today! You’re lucky that I want your woman, Noah!" Garrett added with a sneer.
