Chapter 319 Serenity River
A sudden clap of thunder echoed across the sky. The wind howled, and a torrential downpour began immediately.
"It's raining!"
People outside the service area hurried to their cars.
"Good thing we brought umbrellas, or we'd be drenched," Bodhi said with a cheerful smile, holding an umbrella.
At that moment, Clementine, who had been wearing a white dress earlier, appeared at the door.
She looked at the heavy rain outside, her brows furrowing slightly—clearly, she hadn't brought an umbrella.
"Let me have someone take you over," Noah suggested, pointing to Bodhi and smiling at Clementine. "Your car is right next to ours, so it's on the way."
If he hadn't misheard earlier, this girl's name was Clementine.
"Sure!" Bodhi's eyes lit up as he quickly opened the umbrella. He figured Noah must be interested in Clementine and wanted to pursue her.
"No need, thank you," Clementine shook her head, her voice pleasant. "I have an umbrella in my car. My assistant will get it in a moment."
"Alright." Noah nodded, not pressing the issue. He had just wanted to help out, but since Clementine declined, it didn't matter to him.
"What do you think you're doing?" A sudden angry voice interrupted. A middle-aged woman with a somewhat plump figure and glasses hurried over, glaring at Noah with suspicion.
"What, trying to hit on our Clementine in broad daylight? Take a good look at yourself first!" Her eyes were full of scorn.
"Pippa, it's not like that," Clementine interjected before Noah could speak. "The rain is heavy, and this gentleman has an umbrella. He was just offering to walk us over since his car is right next to ours."
"Next to ours?" Pippa's eyes flickered as she looked outside. Indeed, there was a white van parked next to their Mercedes, but the heavy rain made it hard to see clearly.
"Driving a van and thinking you can pursue our Clementine? Kid, you have no self-awareness!" Pippa sneered at Noah, her scorn deepening. "Do you even know who Clementine is? In Silverlight City, everyone knows her. To pursue her, you'd need assets worth at least millions of dollars! Do you have that kind of money?"
Noah rolled his eyes, surprised at Pippa's venomous words. He hadn't even said anything, and she had already cursed so much. He had only wanted to help.
"Bodhi, let's go," Noah said, stepping outside. He didn't want to waste time arguing with Pippa.
Bodhi quickly held the umbrella for Noah, and they walked to their car. Just then, two burly men in sunglasses emerged from the restroom.
"Seeing my bodyguards, you know to leave. At least you have some sense!" Pippa sneered at Noah's back. "Otherwise, I'd have them beat you up!"
"Go get the umbrella from the car! Ms. Bennett has a performance at Serenity River tonight, and the audience will be full of wealthy people. We can't afford any delays!" Pippa ordered one of the bodyguards.
"Yes, ma'am!" The bodyguard immediately ran into the rain.
Leaving the service area, Noah and Bodhi got back on the highway, continuing their journey to Silverlight City. Due to the heavy rain, they drove slowly, taking about three hours to finally reach the city.
Silverlight City, the heart of Imperial State, was a historic and bustling metropolis with a population nearing ten million.
It was a major contributor to the state's GDP and a popular tourist destination, known for places like Serenity River. It was also a city that had endured hardships and was known for its intense power struggles.
Being the mayor of Silverlight City often meant a future appointment in Riverton, placing one at the core of Eagleland's power.
For officials in Imperial State, Silverlight City was a stepping stone to the pinnacle of power. Those who couldn't climb it would remain ordinary their whole lives.
It was also a city full of hidden talents. The Harris family, one of the three major families in the eastern part of Eagleland, had its headquarters here, along with many other family powers, all engaging in various conflicts, collaborations, and rivalries.
"Mr. Anderson, we're now in the Serenity District of Silverlight City. Where to next?" Bodhi asked, glancing at the map.
"Let's find a hotel first," Noah replied calmly.
"Got it!"
They checked into the Hilton Hotel, booking a presidential suite. After settling in, Noah changed into more comfortable clothes and found Bodhi.
"Let's go out and explore. It's my first time in Silverlight City, and I want to see the sights."
"Sure!"
They left the hotel. The most famous attraction in the Serenity District was, of course, Serenity River. By now, the rain had stopped, the air was fresh, and the western sky was painted with a fiery sunset.
Driving for about an hour, Noah and Bodhi arrived at the Serenity River scenic area. It was evening, and the place was crowded.
The river flowed gently, with lights floating on its surface, creating a beautiful scene.
"The view is really nice," Noah said, hands behind his back, taking in the sights. The historical landmarks and scenic spots left him in awe.
Just then, a three-story red yacht slowly approached the shore. It was adorned with red decorations, and inside, there were tables and graceful figures, attracting the attention of many tourists.
"What an impressive yacht!"
"Yeah, it looks like there's dancing inside. I'd love to check it out!"
"Keep dreaming. Didn't you see the sign? It costs twenty thousand dollars to get in!"
"Twenty thousand dollars!"
The would-be visitor gasped. That was about a year's income for him.
"Only the rich can afford this kind of place."
"Bodhi, want to check it out?" Noah asked with a smile, looking at the yacht.
The yacht was docked, waiting for guests.
Bodhi glanced at the yacht, recognizing it as a place where wealthy heirs sought romantic adventures. "You interested?"
"Just to take a look," Noah said seriously.
"Alright!"
They walked towards the yacht.
"Gentlemen, it's twenty thousand dollars per person to board. Today, we even have the influencer Clementine performing, so it's definitely worth it!" A stylishly dressed woman at the entrance smiled at them. "Will you be paying with cash, Facebook Pay, or PayPal?"
